God 521 – Reviewing of Paul's Writings pt 2 Can you imagine living in the first century Church? And you were at a fellowship, and someone came in with a letter from Paul. And read it to the group. That must have been an exciting time. Paul's letters, or Epistles, were circulated, meaning they were passed around to all the churches. Would it matter the order in which you read them? No, I don't think so. You would just have to use scripture buildup to add to each Epistle to get a more complete understanding of the subject. Like, today we're going to look at the spirit. 2 Timothy 3:16...

God 514 – Don't Frustrate The Grace of God We're continuing along in our series on "Paul of the Bible." This week's teaching is entitled "Don't Frustrate The Grace of God. We need and have the grace of God in our lives. We know that others who are born again have the grace of God in their lives. We need to think of it that way. We all live in Grace. Acts 14:26 – 28 “And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done...

God 513 – When did the Shepherds and the Wise Men Meet? God is perfect. Jesus Christ is perfect. So God's Word must be perfect. God cannot contradict himself. When reading the Bible, we need to use all the keys required to let the word of God interpret itself. We need to be like detectives following the clues. Two things, amongst others, that I watch for are tradition versus truth, and I never trust pictures. We need to look at the words closely. The Birth of Jesus Luke 2:1 – 21 “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world...

And they watched the gates day and night to kill him. 25...
info_outline255 - The Renewed Mind, Part 2
How Grace and Renewing The Mind Work Together
I've been studying how grace and renewing of one's mind work together. Being strong in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ gives the believer liberty, freedom, and peace of mind. Renewing the mind gives the believer the power to overcome the world. To get answers to prayers, to be more than conquerors, and to be victorious. Both are very useful.
Romans 5:20 & 21 “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
'Reckon' is sometimes translated as 'reason.' It's the Greek word 'logizomai' The root word being 'logos.' Bullinger says “It is to count, to reckon, to calculate, to compute, to think and to consider. This is what you do in your mind. This is mind work. Comparing spiritual things with spiritual things, also called Scripture build up.
Romans 6:12 - 23 “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members [parts of your body, like your mind and body] as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [mind and body] as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his [the devil or God] servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members [mind and body] servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members [mind and body] servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
1 John 5:1 – 3 “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
Not Grievous.
1 John 3:22 & 23 “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. [By the renewed mind in action]. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.”
Two singulars equal plural. The commandment that he, Jesus Christ, gave us
John 13:34 & 35 “ A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
John 15:12 “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”
1 John 3:24 “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”
We renew our minds to who and what we are by the spirit he gave us.
1 John 5:3 – 5 “ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
Until the next time we get together, may God bless you abundantly.
