God 509 – How We Got The Bible 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” All scripture is for profit; This must be something of immense value. We want to profit from the “all scripture.” “given by inspiration of God” is one word in Greek: Theopneustos – Theo, meaning God, and Pneustos, meaning breathed, or God Breathed—a figure of speech. John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” God is Spirit. 2...

God 508 – The Reverence of God This is a reposting of The class on How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power The opening of the Class Part Two, The Reverence of God We need the Scriptures to know God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Proverbs 2:1-6: We can find God's knowledge with prayer and the Bible. Proverbs 3:13-19: Break the bondage – set at liberty – The deliverance of God Luke 4:16-21, 1 -9...

God 507 – The Greatest Work Have you ever thought about what the greatest work you can do is? What is the most crucial task that you have to do in knowing God's will, which is the greatest work you can do? It is to study and search the scriptures to see what they say, then you can live that way Matthew 22:29 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” We need to know what the Scriptures say and know the power of God to live extraordinary lives today. John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I...

God 506 - Trust God and Believe 3 John:2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Luke 4:1 – 11 “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in...

God 505 – Thinking and The Renewed Mind, You Renew Your Mind In this session of the series on Thinking and the Renewed Mind, we will examine this as an appendix or a wrapping up of loose ends, with the emphasis now being on 'You Renew Your Mind.' 2 Corinthians 10:1 “Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:” Paul is saying here plainly that whether I am meek, bass, or if I am bold, it's all to help you. You'll see this as the context as we read this together. 2 Corinthians 10:2 “But I...

God 504 – Thinking and The Renewed Mind, Keeping your Mind on God's Word The start and the Finish of the renewed mind is to watch what you're thinking. To develop good habits by continually thinking about them from The Word. Eliminate negative and unproductive habits, and reconsider your perspective on the concepts and precepts of God's Word. A simple way to do this is to establish a daily regimen of reading God's Word and praying for the things you would like to see happen in your life and in the lives of others. I want to point out some keys, but it goes without saying that there are many...

God 503 – Thinking and The Renewed Mind, Seeking His Righteousness God is the prime mover. Not you or me. We do not need to take on all the problems of the world. We do pray and read The Word asking God for help and keeping our minds thinking right. God does want us to believe, and He will do the fighting for us. We have an adversary, and we need to be aware without giving him too much credit. There are two kingdoms. Life and death are involved in them. Both physical and spiritual. God does the real work. Our fighting is done in our brains, in our minds, in our thinking. What do you think?...

God 502 – Conscience and The Renewed, The Hope Hebrews 10:22 – 25 “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Sin consciousness needs to be...

God 501 – Conscience and The Renewed, Hebrews Hebrews 13:18 “Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.” This is the last usage of the word conscience in the book of Hebrews. It is a good target for us to get to. We're willing to be honest. A person with an honest conscience. The worst that he could do is an honest mistake, not one of intent, to harm anyone. You cannot control people who understand righteousness. That is what religion does. Politics is also a religion. Both religion and politics are all about guilt and blame. God and His...

God 500 – Conscience and The Renewed Mind, Part 2 Conscience is your mental awareness because of your previous learning, thinking, and experience. Because of the love of God that's in our hearts, we can now help others by sharing The Word of God with them. Everything starts with what you're thinking. What are you thinking about now? If you line your thinking up with The Word of God, you can watch what you think, speak, and do. 2 Corinthians 4:1 & 2 “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not...

490 – Romans Chapters One – The Apostle Paul's Goals
Below are written all the Scriptures, making it easy for you to follow along with on your devices.
Romans 1:1 “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,”
Servant is the word "doulos" in Greek. In the lands and Times of the Bible, a servant could choose by his free will to continue to work for his master after 7 years as a servant. He could feel like his master was a good Master who cared for him very well, and all his needs were met. So he would decide to continue with the master. He would watch his master intensively, making sure that he knew what his master wanted and needed, even before he was asked. It was a good relationship for both; the master would get what he needed, and the bond slave would meet all his needs met.
The Apostle Paul was saying that he would serve the Lord Jesus, watch, and know what Jesus needed from God's Word and from the Lord Jesus Himself.
We, too, can decide to serve the Lord Jesus and get the information needed to do that from the Scriptures and Jesus Christ himself.
Romans 1:2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
The word "had" means previously, in the scriptures, was this made known.
Romans 1:3 & 4 “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”
The Word is preached, and we can hear it, decide to believe it, and make Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10:8 – 13 “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 1:5 “By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:”
We now have Grace; apostleship means an apostle sent, and All Nations means everybody, Jew and Gentile.
Romans 1:6 “Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:”
Jesus Christ calls everybody, and we decided to heed the calling.
Romans 1:7 “To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
One of the keys to understanding the scriptures is to pay close attention to whom it is addressed to. Here, it is addressed to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints. Saints means “set apart ones.”
Romans 1:8 & 9 “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;”
Let's look at the gospel of His son from Philippians chapter 2.
Philippians 2:1 – 11 “ If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Romans 1:10 & 11 “Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
Let's look at 'spiritual gifts' from some other Church Epistles.
1 Corinthians 12:4 – 7 “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”
1 Corinthians 12:11 & 12 “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”
1 Corinthians 12:27 – 29 “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?”
Ephesians 4:11 – 16 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
Once we are born again and receive the spirit, we can utilize our spiritual gifts. We can serve one another, operate nine manifestations, and be part of the one body of Christ. We have gift ministries available to us. Paul wanted to go to Rome and establish them with spiritual gifts. We, too, can have these spiritual gifts.
Romans 1:12 & 13 “That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. 13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.”
The word 'hitherto' has been translated as " prevented or hindered." Who would prevent or hinder you? In the least common denominator, it's either God or the devil. If God keeps you out of trouble, that would be a good thing. If it's the devil, the adversary, God can help you get where you need to go or do what you need to do. Either way, we can pray in the name of Jesus Christ and ask God to help us find the answer we need.
Romans 1:14 – 20 “I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
May I suggest that you get a better understanding of what it means that "they are without excuse" by going to my class or reading the book "How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power" and listening to or reading the sessions or chapters on "The Beginning: The First Three Chapters of Genesis? " This would give you a great background to understand this. Both the audio class and the book are available on my website. The link is below in the show notes.
Until the next time we get together, may God bless you abundantly.
