What can American citizens do and how can they prepare to deal with the threats that we are facing?  During our SOTG Homeroom, from SOTGU, we will address a deadly shark attack. What could have been done differently? Could the victim have been saved? Whose responsibility is it to be prepared to save a life? Do you need an LPVO on your home defense rifle? During our Tech Talk from EOTech Inc. we will consider that question in depth.  Thanks for being a part of SOTG! We hope...

From www.nbcsandiego.com:

A federal judge on Thursday blocked a California law requiring background checks for people buying ammunition, issuing a sharply worded rebuke of “onerous and convoluted” regulations that violate the constitutional right to bear arms.

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez in San Diego ruled in favor of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, which asked him to stop the checks and related restrictions on ammo sales.

“The experiment has been tried. The casualties have been counted. California’s new ammunition background check law misfires and the Second Amendment rights of California citizens have been gravely injured,” Benitez wrote in a 120-page opinion granting the group's motion for a preliminary injunction.

From blog.full30.com:

“There’s nothing I can do with red dots that I cannot do with my iron sights.” So said the gentleman on the pistol range standing next to me. To be fair, his assessment was likely correct, at least for as far as what he was doing. The gentleman was slow-firing at a paper target that was about five yards down range. He was under no time constraints. The lighting was good. He was standing tall with both hands on his pistol.

Under the circumstances that I just described, stock iron sights would very likely suffice and that is the prism through which most people will look. When the subject of fighting with a pistol in your hands comes up, all of those factors will be suspect. In a fight, time is NOT on your side. More likely than not, you will be moving and your opponent will be moving. The available light will be poor and you may only have the time or opportunity to use a single hand.
