    • Full Question: Hello Professor Paul, Jarrad, and Zach! This question is for Professor Paul: I have several handguns that I have been meaning to replace the sights on. I have two handguns that already have Night Fision sights on them. Is it a good idea to keep all my sights the same configuration, ie front sight color and rear notch style, for consistency sake or is this not that big of a deal?

From www.nbcsandiego.com:

A federal judge on Thursday blocked a California law requiring background checks for people buying ammunition, issuing a sharply worded rebuke of “onerous and convoluted” regulations that violate the constitutional right to bear arms.

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez in San Diego ruled in favor of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, which asked him to stop the checks and related restrictions on ammo sales.

“The experiment has been tried. The casualties have been counted. California’s new ammunition background check law misfires and the Second Amendment rights of California citizens have been gravely injured,” Benitez wrote in a 120-page opinion granting the group's motion for a preliminary injunction.

From blog.full30.com:

“There’s nothing I can do with red dots that I cannot do with my iron sights.” So said the gentleman on the pistol range standing next to me. To be fair, his assessment was likely correct, at least for as far as what he was doing. The gentleman was slow-firing at a paper target that was about five yards down range. He was under no time constraints. The lighting was good. He was standing tall with both hands on his pistol.

Under the circumstances that I just described, stock iron sights would very likely suffice and that is the prism through which most people will look. When the subject of fighting with a pistol in your hands comes up, all of those factors will be suspect. In a fight, time is NOT on your side. More likely than not, you will be moving and your opponent will be moving. The available light will be poor and you may only have the time or opportunity to use a single hand.
