The Beautiful Side of Grief

Today I am talking to a young guy, John Kimble, who really ventured on the wrong side of life. He wanted to be a gangsta, he had no remorse around the things he did, he robbed houses, sold drugs, had addictions, had attempted suicide a couple of times, had multiple felonies and eventually ended up in a psych ward diagnosed as a sociopath. That's some heavy stuff to go through. Yet, he makes no excuses. He has turned that all around to now having his own fitness centre KimbleFit - and now helps others of all ages find the life they want - through the same means he helped himself.   This is...

When she did face it, however, she decided that she was going to her best, along with her brother, to find the happy moments and memories in this journey, as well as supporting their mum, who was his primary caregiver.   This is a great conversation about being human,...

Facing bankruptcy at the same time as his greatest health challenge, with eight children he didn't want to leave, he used his research skills to get rid of his 'incurable' cancer. The Beautiful Side of Grief

I truly believe caregivers are unsung heroes! That is why it is a privilege to talk with Sheila Clemenson who became a caregiver for her husband early into their relationship at the age of 26, when he was diagnosed with ALS. In this raw, authentic conversation we talk abut some of the tougher aspects of being a caregiver - the people pleasing trait, the guilt, the lack of self-care, and what happens after your loved one transitions. We also talk about getting a support network around us, finding the beauty in grief, the happiness, and allowing ourselves to have hope and dreams once again. If...

The Beautiful Side of Grief

War does something to a person, not only emotionally, also physiologically. For starters, it rewires your brain to dampen emotional responses to what is being experienced, to exist in a hyper state of alertness and awareness, and to cope with altered sleep patterns. It  can also become very addicted to emotionally charged situations, where uncertainty exists. No wonder veterans can have a tough time readjusting to life outside, making sense of the trauma they've experienced, and simply adapting to living day to day without having to be in a constant state of alertness.   My guest,...

It's often when life gets so overwhelming and we don't know how we are going to keep going on that we often go searching. And that is when you can be miraculously (or not so miraculously) guided to the modality or modalities that are right for you. This is what happened to Lauren Fonvielle. As a mum to youngsters, the news of her husband's deployment was the final straw for the escalating anxiety she was feeling. That led her to discover yoga, meditation, reiki, and also something called EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique or tapping as it is often known.

Lauren is now an Integrative Energy Practitioner, specializing in EFT/ Tapping to help clients relieve themselves of their stress, anxiety, and trauma. Itโ€™s a guided journey of self-healing breaking through obstacles - physical, mental, or emotional - that keep people stuck and in pain.

In recent years she's had to navigate the grief of losing her father-in-law to suicide and the ripple effect that it has had on her family plus grieving everything that Parkinson's has stolen from her family as her mother's illness continues to worsen. Yet it's these challenges that help her serve her clients better.
