130. What's the STORY You Tell Yourself | Ashmeeta Rama Madhav
How are you parenting yourself in your grief? Are you giving yourself the same advice you would give your child? Sometimes we get so mired in our experience we can forget to take a step back to see the big picture. In this final episode of Season 6, I speak with Ashmeeta Rama, a resilience and grief support advocate, expert, author, and founder of the Growth Story Hub. Ashmeeta shares her profound journey through intense grief, having faced multiple losses including miscarriages, rejection, and the loss of her parents and husband. She discusses how experiences and self-talk shape our emotional responses and reality. Highlighting the power of gratitude, empathy, and self-forgiveness, Ashmeeta emphasizes the importance of embracing our grief and finding empowerment through it. Join me as I delve into navigating grief, the significance of self-parenting, and Ashmeeta's mission to help others realize their worth and potential through storytelling. Ashmeeta's Bio Ashmeeta Rama Madhav is an educator, resilience and grief support advocate/expert, entrepreneur, author, and lifelong learner. She has been intimately acquainted with grief since her early twenties, having experienced miscarriage, rejection, and the loss of her parents and husband, which exposed her to a range of profound emotions. She is the founder of Growth StoryHub; an organization created to inspire and empower individuals who have lost a loved one (suddenly or to a terminal Illness) and are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, numb, and vulnerable. At the heart of her book, "What’s Your Story?" is her passion for helping others and sharing her experiences. Through her book, she shares her journey through grief and self-discovery intending to provide comfort and inspiration to those confronting similar experiences. Ashmeeta's desire is for others to recognize that profound loss need not signify the end of one's story; rather, it can mark the commencement of a new and meaningful chapter. Her mission is to share the knowledge she's gained through her experiences with others to empower the grieving. It's likely to change the entire way you think about yourself and what you have been experiencing. Daniel Packard used the logic of his mechanical enginnering background to delve in and solve his own crippling feelings of anxiety, depression and PTS. The unique appraoch of his Nervous System Reset programme is guaranteed to give you the results you are after or you don't pay. Yes, that's right. You only pay for this system when you get results. That is how confident Daniel is that this system will be life-changing for you. It's based on evidence and measurable results that you get to see for yourself. I encourage you to bring your fear, anxiety and skepticism and take a listen to incredible episode. Oh... And I did I mention the results are permanent?? 00:00 Introduction to the Episode 03:57 The Importance of Courage and Feeling 06:09 Daniel's Passion and Joy in Helping Others 09:57 The Engineering Approach to Emotional Struggles 23:23 The Root Cause of Anxiety and Fear 27:27 Understanding the Mechanical Approach 39:16 Role Play: Feeling Safe vs. Unsafe 40:34 Understanding the Link Between Care and Safety 41:45 Self-Care and Internal Safety 44:17 Signs of Neglecting Self-Care 48:35 The Importance of a Comprehensive System 50:50 Real-Life Success Stories 53:19 The Power of a Complete Toolkit 58:15 Overcoming Skepticism and Embracing Change 01:06:55 Final Thoughts Daniel's Bio Daniel Packard is a U.C. Berkeley Mechanical Engineer and Anxiety Solution Pioneer whose research company engineered world's only permanent anxiety solution program where you only pay at the end of the program, once you have clear, measurable results. Daniel's passion for inventing and results came from his father. As a child growing up in Berkeley, CA, Daniel's father (who was a scientist and inventor) told a 10 year old Daniel two things that stuck with him for the rest of his life . His dad told him 'If something isn't working, invent something better.' And 'If you want to really make people's lives better...results matter.' After, staying in an abusive relationship too long, Daniel ended up with severe anxiety and PSTD. After spending 10 years and $100,000 trying solve his anxiety, he learned that a trillion dollars is spent globally on mental health, but not getting people in pain permanent results. Remembering what his dad told him, that 'results matter' and because he was trained in engineering school to know how to engineer solutions to complex problems, Daniel took a stand against the mental health industry and started his own research company with the goal to see if it was possible to reverse engineer a process from scratch that could solve anxiety permanently in a short period of time. Daniel and his team were not therapists or doctors or psychologists. They were not traditional experts, they were outsiders. Because they were outsiders they were open to discovering what the experts had missed. Daniel and his team made the huge breakthrough discovery that even though the experts say anxiety is a problem of the mind , the research revealed anxiety is actually a problem of the body. Based on this discovery Daniel and his team spent a total of 8 years, working with over 3000 people (from 5 continents) to develop, test and perfect an innovative 6 -week program that in just 6 weeks solves all forms of anxiety permanently with an industry leading 90% success rate. This 6 - week program called Nervous System Reset has helped hundreds of individual clients but also over 3000 people at over 300 companies and universities all over the world. Including the South African government which asked to make Nervous System Reset a part of the national mental health curriculum. Based in his mission to take a stand against the mental health industry which takes people’s money and doesn’t deliver permanent results, people who join Nervous System Reset only pay at the end of the process once they have clear, measurable permanent results. Daniel’s company is the only one in the world to offer a permanent anxiety solution with backed up results. This is because Daniel passionately believes what his dad told him years ago, which is that if you really want to make people's lives better...results matter. Fun facts: Daniel was a professional stand-up comedian for 15 years. He loves peach gelato. He's a surprisingly groovy dancer. Quote: "When you're in pain, you want to be free of this. You want real results. And that's what our passion is." ~ Daniel Packard Resources: Daniel's links: Website: Facebook: IG: YouTube: To view videos and/or book a FREE call to see if this system is the right fit for you: Follow me on: Email: [email protected] Instagram: Facebook: Website: YouTube: Check out A Letter of Hope & Aroha (aLoHA) on this link: Did you find any value in this episode? 126. The Power of Pebbles & ANGELS | Patti DiMiceli
Can you imagine how you would cope if your only child KNEW they were going to die, and you were only 27? On The Beautiful Side of Grief today I get to speak to Amber's incredible mum, Patti DiMiceli who went through this with Amber at the tender age of 41/2. Amber was not afraid. She even picked out the clothes she wanted to wear to Heaven The story of how Patti and Amber prepared for this event - which she describes it as a Miracle, will bring tears to your eyes - so make sure you have some tissues handy before listening! How Patti viewed this event is also profound - it is one that has elevated and sustained her, and many others around the world, since Amber's death. This is a beautiful conversation with a lady I consider an Angel herself with all the incredible work she is doing to ease the pain of others and bring light into their world. (This is Part 1. Part 2 where we explore the many tools and resources Patti uses in helping others, will feature in Season 7). Patti's Bio Born in the City of Angels (LA, California) at the Queen of Angels Hospital, Patti knew she was chosen at an early age, though she didn’t know why. And then she discovered a small lump behind her daughter, Amber’s ear, in August of 1979. It was a discovery that would change her life, her destiny, and the world. Her story, chronicled in Amber’s book, Embrace the Angel, challenges the notion of death and invites us to harness the power of “Crossing the Threshold” to enrich the lives of others…to transform this world for the better. Using the tools, skills, and talents given to her by The Divine, Patti created Tobias & Co. LLC, a company devoted to elevating others, offering hope and inspiration to the bereaved and critically ill, and sharing her unique creations that delight the senses, soothe the soul, and lift the spirit. She has featured in the Associated Press, the Bridgeport Post, the National Enquirer, The Capital, Natural Health Village, the Milford Citizen, New Haven Register, the New Haven Advocate, and on The Morning Show NYC with Regis and Kathy Lee, Channel 30 News, New Haven, CT, Good Day Boston, WUSA News, Washington, DC, WBAL News, Baltimore, MD. Patti has also been named Milford’s Renaissance Woman by the New Haven Advocate. Quote: "I was standing in line getting something for Amber and I heard 'turn around', and I turned around and there was a big rack of keys, big golden keys, and the words, 'give this to Amber, and tell her it's the key to heaven'." ~ Patti DiMiceli Resources: Patti's links: Websites: Facebook: IG: LinkedIn: Book: Follow me on: Email: [email protected] Instagram: Facebook: Website: YouTube: Check out A Letter of Hope & Aroha (aLoHA) on this link: Did you find any value in this episode? 125. FREEING MYSELF from a Lifetime with Narcissists | Dana Diaz
In this episode we explore the grief related to abuse - and more specifically narcissistic abuse. If you have a close relationship with your family - think for a moment what that relationship would look like if they set you for a lifetime of abuse as you were growing up, and then into your adulthood. Instead of giving you the love and support you deserved, they chose to cover their own tracks from possible exposure, by making you out to be the bad guy and supporting your abusive partner instead. Truly, It's enough to send anyone crazy! Having the courage to stand up for yourself and speak your truth becomes the death of your family and loved ones. To all intents and purposes - you are a whistleblower - and that's an incredibly courageous, risky, and heartbreaking situation to be in. To find yourself - the trade-off is to lose your family. This is what victims of abuse typically encounter when they leave their abusive situations, and there are probably some of you listening right now who will be able to relate to this. So, if you have been set up for this type of situation, how on earth do you go about extricating yourself? That is what Dana Diaz is going to share with us today. She is the author of Gasping for Air: The Stranglehold of Narcissistic Abuse detailing the many decades she endured this type of abuse. When she finally ended the cycle of abuse, she was exiled and ghosted by friends, family, acquaintances in her son's school and in her church. She takes us through that - including how to identify some red flags for anyone who might be in a similar situation, and why it is so important for anyone who is experiencing this type of abuse to do find their way out. Dana's Bio Dana S. Diaz studied journalism and psychology at DePaul University. While there’s no better teacher than life experience and Dana has had life-long experiences with narcissistic abuse, her education did give her the ability to accurately verbalize and express how narcissistic abuse creates confusion and conflict within victims. Today, Dana is a proud voice for fellow victims who are unable, afraid, or ashamed to share their experiences. She strives to create awareness and understanding to ensure victims are given the support they need to first understand their situation and then begin the healing process. Her first book, chronicling her own abusive marriage that lasted nearly three decades, started as a journal that she hid under the couch cushion in the basement. Quote: "In a lifetime with narcissists, nobody ever asked me what I want because they didn't care what I wanted. They only cared what they wanted." ~ Dana Diaz Resources: Dana's links: Website: Facebook: IG: Gasping for Air: Follow me on: Email: [email protected] Instagram: Facebook: Website: YouTube: Check out A Letter of Hope & Aroha (aLoHA) on this link: Did you find any value in this episode? 121. Ministering to Your OWN Grief | Rev. Jocelyn Jones
Sometimes we can just be too close to a situation. We don't want to see what is right in front of us. This was true for Rev. Jocelyn when she was facing her beloved father's battle with Alzheimer's. When she did face it, however, she decided that she was going to her best, along with her brother, to find the happy moments and memories in this journey, as well as supporting their mum, who was his primary caregiver. This is a great conversation about being human, and being vulnerable, even when you supposedly have all the tools, knowledge, and expertise, as Jocelyn does in the field of trauma and grief. It highlights how you can bring joy into a situation that seems overwhelming. How you can also use these opportunities to ask all those questions you've always wanted to know the answers to. What would you do if you were facing a life-ending diagnosis at 46? Would you just hunker down and do the best you can? Or would you step outside conventional medicine and thoughts and do whatever it takes? The latter is what my guest, Ian Clark, did. Facing bankruptcy at the same time as his greatest health challenge, with eight children he didn't want to leave, he used his research skills to get rid of his 'incurable' cancer. This is a fascinating conversation that is sure to get you thinking... and you may never look at your health the same way again! Ian's Bio At 46 years old, I watched my life turn from bad to good. 113. From WARRIOR to AWAKENING | John Lawyer
War does something to a person, not only emotionally, also physiologically. For starters, it rewires your brain to dampen emotional responses to what is being experienced, to exist in a hyper state of alertness and awareness, and to cope with altered sleep patterns. It can also become very addicted to emotionally charged situations, where uncertainty exists. No wonder veterans can have a tough time readjusting to life outside, making sense of the trauma they've experienced, and simply adapting to living day to day without having to be in a constant state of alertness. My guest, John Lawyer, has gone from being a soldier and contractor in counter intelligence over 15 years, to an Awakening. That is a HUGE shift for anyone to make! So I'm excited to explore with him just what prompted that and then the journey from having his brain rewired through many years of being a warrior in war situations... to then having to undo that and find his way to a place of peace, calm and purpose through becoming a spiritualist and universalist. He describes it as coming out the other side of the swamp of sadness. John is now commited to merging this spiritual path into everyday life. So join us to hear his incredible story John's Bio From desert combat zones to a battle within, John Lawyer transformed from soldier to spiritual seeker. He acts as one of several guides for Kishar, a non-profit online spiritual community for people to share their journey and explore their own unique spiritual path. John is an Omnist and believes in the validity of great human thought from around the world and across time. He offers individual spiritual coaching and guidance services as part of the Kishar Spiritual Community. 108. Awakening - the GIFT of Loss | Michael McGinnis
The death of my beautiful daughter, Tahl, led me on a path of discovery... And to an awakening. The loss was so profound I ceased to view life as I once had. This event forced me to question a lot of aspects of my life and how I was living it... And this led to the happiness I have today. My guest on this episode, Michael McGinnis, explores this in a lot more depth. He helps us understand that we are ALL on a journey of awakening - we will just do it in different ways and at different times. What's really cool though, is that he has written a series of fictional books that grab our attention and entertain us while imparting these essential messages. The topic may be a little different though I'm sure you will welcome joining us in this insightful conversation 💜 Michael's Bio As a change catalyst Michael McGinnis has dedicated his life to the awakening of humanity on a global level. Through extensive self-study and first-hand experience, he has been gifted to serve as a channel for the words the world needs to hear at the most crucial moment in history. 107. The Other Side of the GUN! | Susan Snow
This is an episode that clearly illustrates the devastating effects trauma and PTSD can have on a person's life. My guest, Susan Snow, is the daughter of an Los Angeles Police Detective who was ambushed and killed on Halloween night back in 1985, while picking up his then 6 year old son from school. But worse was to come - both she and her mother were called to the school where they witnessed the body and the aftermath. Years later, the school shooting at Columbine High School brought Susan's trauma back to the surface with such a force, that she had no option but to seek help. Five years ago Susan undertook another painful task, reliving these events over and over again, to write her book - The Other Side of the Gun - My Journey from Trauma to Resiliency. This is an incredible story of the impacts of trauma, how to recognise the signs, and then finding a way to heal. Susan's Bio Susan Snow is the daughter of slain LAPD Detective Thomas C. Williams, who was ambushed and killed on October 31, 1985 when she was 17. She is a published author, speaker, and coach. Susan currently works as a Realtor in the Denver Metro area. 105. Defying DEVASTATING Loss! | AJ Coleman
What makes someone resilient? Is it their ability to navigate a life-long disability? Is it learning to cope to with the pressures that come with that disability - being left out, feeling different, not fitting in? Overcoming anxiety and panic attacks? Is it suffering not one, or two, but multiple job losses when you are the bread-winner? Is it being left to raise a young baby as you also work, and provide care for your wife who has less than a year to live? Then deeply mourning the love of your life? Is it raising a child as a widowed dad? Any one of these would probably produce a resilient person. All of them combined makes AJ Coleman a very compassionate, beautiful, heart-centered guy, who is dedicated to sharing his wisdom with others through our conversation together and through his book 'Keep Those Feet Moving'. There was loads of info we didn't get a chance to explore, though what we did is a gift to you! AJ's Bio AJ Coleman holds several titles, including widower and single father. A certified anti-money laundering specialist (CAMS) and fraud examiner (CFE), AJ earned his bachelor of science from the University of Florida–becoming a die hard Gator fan–and MBA from the University of Arizona.
