How to Deal with a Negative Pregnancy Test show art How to Deal with a Negative Pregnancy Test

The Egg Whisperer Show

Is your pregnancy test negative, again? Let’s get real. It sucks when we do everything we can in our power to make something happen, and it just doesn’t. If you’ve ever wanted to get pregnant, and have seen a negative result on the test, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It doesn’t matter if it’s one month of trying or 2 years…. “Trying to get pregnant” can be painful, and the phrase itself is defeatist. The mindset it establishes is one based on fear vs. love. I like to lead from a place of love, and encourage my patients to think positively. For that reason, I...

Getting the Most Out of Your First Visit with a Fertility Doctor show art Getting the Most Out of Your First Visit with a Fertility Doctor

The Egg Whisperer Show

Regardless of who you see for fertility care, you deserve the best—personalized treatment. I realize that not everyone can come to see me, and I won’t be around forever. This information is a valuable resource as you begin your fertility journey, whoever it is with and whenever it takes place. The inspiration behind this topic? Well—it started with some snooping. Several times each day, I hear my receptionist answer the phone and new patients on the other end asking what they can expect at a new patient consult. The mystery is about to be revealed!   Do you have questions about...

How to Talk to Your Doctor About Fertility if You Are Over 40 show art How to Talk to Your Doctor About Fertility if You Are Over 40

The Egg Whisperer Show

Talking about your fertility when you’re over 40 is not easy, but I want women to stop apologizing for desiring a family. Times have changed. It’s okay to want a baby over 40. It’s not crazy, nor selfish.  My approach is for all of my patients to be given their best chance at a healthy pregnancy in the shortest period of time. How do we do this? It starts by not believing everything you read.  There’s an international headline I saw recently on BBC news that fertility doctors are exploiting older women and “dealing false hope”. Do I believe that fertility doctors...

Dr. Meivys Garcia is joining me on the podcast today! She is an amazing Canadian fertility doctor, and she's guiding us through her approach to fertility care when a frozen embryo transfer doesn’t work. She will describe every step, one at a time. We will also get personal. Knowing the heartbreak of having failed embryo transfers during her own fertility journey, Dr. Garcia knows all too well what it is like to be a fertility patient.

She’s going to share her journey and share her wisdom based on her experience as a patient and as a fertility expert.

I’m going to be honest and open about this; one of the hardest parts of walking the fertility journey with patients is when we have loss. Whether that be the loss of a pregnancy or the loss of a frozen embryo, it’s heart wrenching for me, and for the patient.

Today’s podcast episode will be about holding space for loss, and how to move on when you’ve had difficult news. It’s about what you can learn from the unfortunate events. It’s also about the hope and courage it takes to be a fertility patient, and the admiration that Dr. Garcia and I have for every patient we’ve worked with.
