DR. MICHELLE JORGENSEN, DDS After a decade and a half of studying and practicing dentistry and medicine so that she could keep others well, Dr. Michelle Jorgensen, DDS’ own body was sick. As a young mom of four busy, growing children, she was stretched between a demanding business and a taxing home life. She had no energy and felt like she could barely keep her head above water. She couldn’t sleep through the night or hold her dental instruments without pain and numbness in her hands and arms. Her diet had been whittled down to a few “safe” foods that she could eat without stomach pain, and her once very sharp memory couldn’t remember crucial details about patients and procedures. Something was very wrong but a plethora of doctors, blood tests, scopes, and X-rays all told her it was stress.
There was one test the doctors didn’t run and she asked for at the suggestion from a new practitioner friend—mercury toxicity.
“When my test results came back, I was floored,” says Dr. Jorgensen. “My mercury levels were so high they were off the charts. Finally, I had an answer, and it was simple. The mercury in those seemingly innocent fillings that I had been removing from my patients’ teeth was poisoning me and my cells. After learning about my toxic mercury levels, I swung between disbelief and anger that, as a dentist, I hadn’t been warned about this inherent danger, and profound relief that I had an answer for what was causing my body’s systems to fail.”
Her five-year path to recovery led Dr. Jorgensen to discover ways to improve her family’s and her own health in all facets of life. Now, her new book breaks down what “health” really means for every cell in your body. In Living Well with Dr. Michelle: A Comprehensive Handbook for Optimal Health and Unlimited Energy (BenBella, May 20th, 2025), Dr. Michelle makes it simple, breaking down the true meaning of health at the cellular level and beyond. Drawing from time-tested wisdom and evidence-based modern science, she provides a clear, practical path to lasting well-being.
