Tights and Fights
This was one of the bleakest weeks in wrestling history. WWE announced sweeping layoffs that affected tons of people behind the scenes, including locker room favorites and people that were involved in WrestleMania. It’s hard to even know where to begin but, like most of you are, we’re just really sad. We’ll be bummed for a bit and express hope that they’ll be set for greener pastures once the world returns to a friendlier space for international wrestling. As if that wasn’t enough we’ll also discuss the career of Howard Finkel who unfortunately died a few days ago. And, as hard as...
info_outline Ep. 190: WrestleMania 36Tights and Fights
The loneliest WrestleMania in history has officially wrapped up. It was a setting unlike any other in history, with a grand total of zero spectators and truly bizarre taped segments in the place of vignettes. How were the matches affected by the lack of an audience? Were the experimental bits of a show a hit? And which title changes were we in favor of and which did we disapprove? There’s a lot to get into, but luckily it’s not too big for one episode! Hosted by , and . Produced by for . If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on and @TightsFights...
info_outline Ep. 189: One bang by landTights and Fights
It’s the final week before WrestleMania! And despite everything, WWE has set up a match that we’re at least cautiously interested in. Without being able to use a live audience, they have leaned on in-ring and pre-taped promos to carry the weight of the build. How successful were they? We’ll discuss! Plus, we’ll still get into what AEW is up in the absence of their audience and a massive PPV to build to. That includes the great things like Brit Baker’s shoe… and the not so great things like antiquated squash matches. The Three Count Danielle put over . Lindsey put over . Hal put...
info_outline Ep. 188: Nation of Conversation in IsolationTights and Fights
Hal, Lindsey and Danielle are back together… remotely! But the hits just keep coming for WrestleMania. Roman Reigns has formally dropped out of his match against Goldberg for the Universal Title for the sake of his health. And he has reason to be concerned; a number of wrestlers have come down with symptoms, including the Miz. Despite, that it still seems like WrestleMania is going to happen in just over a week. We’ll discuss why that still seems like bad idea, plus all the other news from the week, including the cancelation of NXT TakeOver: Tampa and Matt Hardy’s offer to join the...
info_outline Ep. 187: EmptyManiaTights and Fights
Hal, Lindsey and Danielle are back together… in a manner of speaking. They’re hanging out remotely just like 90% of wrestlers in the world. This week we finally got to see what WWE is going to do about WrestleMania in the wake of safety concerns with COVID-19. The show will take place the first weekend of April as scheduled, with some major differences; It will take place in an empty Performance Center over the course of two days. While this is probably the best way to have a show on this scale in the midst of a pandemic, we’ll speculate as to how you have the biggest show of...
info_outline Ep. 186: Wrestling From HomeTights and Fights
Hal and Lindsey are joined by from the "" podcast to discuss one of those rare instances where the real world actually affected wrestling. COVID-19 has led to AEW and Smackdown scheduling empty arena live shows. And that’s gotta mean that WrestleMania is going to be postponed… right? But in the meantime, let’s talk about what may end up being the last normal week of wrestling for God knows how long… A week that included the Elimination Chamber PPV, Drew McIntyre squashing a spider, Nick Jackson getting squashed by a garage door and the build to a number of shows that should...
info_outline Ep. 185: Rap slack and Edge’s careerTights and Fights
Hal and Lindsey discuss AEW’s Revolution PPV. The match that undoubtedly stole the show was Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page defending the titles vs. The Young Bucks. It exemplified the strong story-telling that Kenny and his cohorts are capable of. We’ll discuss why we love the match so much and why we can’t wait for what’s next. Plus, we’ve got a new AEW World Champion! Jon Moxley has reached the mountain top after beating Chris Jericho. And while we’re excited about him as champion, we’ll also discuss why the match didn’t quite reach the heights set by the rest of the PPV....
info_outline Ep. 184: Thank your local BellaTights and Fights
Danielle’s once again in the throes of some real-deal TV work and hasn’t had much time to watch wrestling. But, luckily we’ve got a Lindsey Kelk here to chat things up. That includes NXT, which is shaping up its road to WrestleMania and TakeOver nicely. Bianca Belair lost to Charlotte Flair. With a number one contendership ladder match coming up at TakeOver, will that be Bianca’s next opportunity to shine? Or is she destined to regularly edge close to glory without going all the way? Plus, it looks like WALTER and Imperium want the Finn Balor rub (don’t we all though?). Vague shades...
info_outline Ep. 183: Nat King Cole Bay-BayTights and Fights
Confession time: Danielle has had one helluva busy week with work beyond wrestling. But never fear, she still got to watch NXT TakeOver: Portland! Banger matches, character progression, story advancement… pretty standard fare for a TakeOver at this point, right? We’ll say where we see all of our favorites go from here as we prepare for the final stretch to WWE in Tampa. Unfortunately Danielle wasn’t able to see the rest of the wrestling from the week. Luckily Hal (and some interstitial comments to Julian) are going to help get her up to speed. We’ll get into everything from Cody’s...
info_outline Ep. 182: TakeOver: Pirates’ Booty.Tights and Fights
The full group of wrassle friends is reunited! Hal, Danielle and Lindsey have tons of good wrestling to discuss after so long apart. Including Shayna Baszler taking a big bite out of Becky Lynch, AEW’s battle of the One-eyed Willies and new AEW women’s champion, Nyla Rose. But all that aside... we’ve also got to talk about the XFL! Which is apparently… good now? And are we witnessing the finale of Matt Hardy’s WWE career? We’ll salute the formerly woken warrior and explain why him taking up for Edge is actually hilarious in the context of his career. All of that.. Plus we’ll...
