On January 6th of this year, I rang in my 34th birthday by gathering some friends over zoom who were more than willing to take turns reading the apology I deserve from my mother but will never receive. As I was putting an end to the normalization of abuse and lack of accountability in my own relationships, our country was witnessing the repercussions of that normalization.
