In episode #82 of Work Comp Talk, co-founder Eric Farber and Pacific Workers president Bilal Kassem tackle the controversial issue of whether undocumented workers in California are entitled to workers' compensation.

Undocumented workers are indeed entitled to workers' compensation in California, just like any other employee and though the short answer is straightforward, the long answer involves intricate details about employer responsibilities and the treatment of undocumented workers. Employers are legally required to verify the eligibility of their employees to work.

Regardless of a worker’s documentation status, as long as they are performing labor for an employer, they are entitled to workers’ compensation benefits. Denying undocumented workers their rightful benefits not only harms individuals but undermines the fair treatment of labor across the board. In concluding the episode, Eric and Bilal reflect on the rewarding journey of Pacific Workers and their commitment to advocating for all workers, regardless of their status.
