For the Ladies!! The Phases, Myths, and Best Foods for Your Cycle
Why, yes, we are going to be talking about periods today! How come? Because our periods tell us so much about our health and we are weirdly not taught enough about them! There's tons of debate on why we are not taught in depth about this part of our bodies and we won't get into that. But one thing is clear - lots of women work against their cycles in their daily and monthly routine and don't even know it! Also, have you ever heard of your period referred to as your 5th vital sign? I never have! But we can learn so much about hormone imbalances and toxcity in the body simply by paying attention to our cycles. Tracking your cycle isn't just for when you want to have a baby! Paying attention to what phase you're in throughout the month can help you structure your activities to work with your physiology! For instance, STOP TRYING TO DO HIIT WORKOUTS WHEN YOU ARE ON YOUR PERIOD. STOP IT. And stop beating yourself up for not going as hard in your workouts during this time! Your body is naturally in a phase where it's asking you to give it a few days to a week to just slow down. In this episode, I'm going to discuss some period myths (did you know that cramps don't have to happen??), the phases of menstrual cycle, and foods you can eat to support each phase and help keep you feeling good all month long! I'm going to be referencing the book In the Flo by Alisa Vitti in this epsiode, so most of the information will come from there. I know everyone thinks it's weird and gross to talk about periods, but the truth is it's a huge marker of health for women and I definitely think we all need to know this information. It's our health!! Once you start paying a little more attention to where you're at each month, I promise you'll realize that your body was giving you different queues all month long since your very first period. You can write it off as too "woo woo", I thought the same thing! But I'd ask you to just consider listening to this episode and consider taking more time to slow down and pay attention to your natural rhythm!
