Before you begin When you start any journey, many things can hold you back, the most powerful of which is DOUBT. When you try doing something different, challenges arise. Things you and your ancestors struggled with surface from the depths of your subconscious. Your life experiences and those of your ancestors leave a mark on your consciousness. Breaking free on your own is challenging. Four things are mandatory when you are breaking free: aspiration, desperation, inspiration, and perspiration. Set your heart on what you desire. With every heartbeat, you have to believe that your dreams are real and worthy of your efforts, time, emotions, and energy. It must be something you have wanted for some time. Maybe no one knows about it, but when alone, you have yearned for it. You always hoped that one day you would have a venture of your own and be your own boss. Remember when you were 10 or 12 years old, and you felt exhausted from people telling you what to do. You were tired of those older than you bossing you around. You wished you could escape, run away somewhere they couldn’t get you, and be free forever. Well, you are feeling that feeling again. You are not 10 or 12 anymore. You may be in your twenties, thirties, forties, whatever. It doesn’t matter. It’s never too late to want to be your boss. I have a friend in her eighties, still chipping away as a solopreneur and reinventing herself. Why would someone in their eighties try to learn the internet and social media? Technology wasn’t her friend when she was a child in school. She’s working through the everyday challenges of being her boss so she has something exciting to wake up to each morning and something wonderful to dream about as she lays her head on her pillow at night. Do you dream of being your boss? Would you love to manage your own time? How does it feel to work when you feel like it and take time off when the wind beckons you? Starting your own business is more than that. I know a man who hangs up the phone on a customer and says, “I think I will go and catch some surf before I begin work again.” It took him years to build that lifestyle, but he did it because he couldn’t live any other way. He didn’t want to toil away building someone else’s riches while he brought home a weekly paycheck. You may say, “I have no money to start my business.” I have heard a saying over and over and over again: “You need money to make money.” It’s a bad saying and not completely right. If you have money, you can place ads, hoping your ideal customers see them and come buy your products or services. That’s true! This model works. But when you don’t have money, you have something else that you can use to start a new business. You have your sweat. My mentor Elaine said this often: “You always have sweat equity.” What is sweat equity? It’s your perspiration. Be willing to do the legwork. Have you seen peddlers on the street selling their wares? Has anyone ever knocked on your door or stuck a flier offering to either sell or buy your house? Dentists, chiropractors, painters, and plumbers are always canvassing neighborhoods to sell their services. Desperate times demand desperate measures. Some do it on their own, some hand the fliers to someone else and ask them to place them on every door. That’s sweat equity. Whoever is placing the flier gets paid in some form while sweating it out. You have to be willing to sweat it out when you are starting. If you ever feel that not having money is a deterrent to starting your business, that's a lie you need to let go of right now. I started my hypnotherapy and healing business, banking on my sweat equity. In California, you can’t place fliers on cars. Most businesses don’t want you to place your brochure or card in their waiting rooms. It’s never easy to start your business, but you can do it when you feel desperate and inspired at the same time. You have to believe one hundred percent that there are people who need what you sell. Even though many people could use your services or products, they may not all connect with you, so they will not buy from you. There will always be some people who will connect with you and buy from you. You need to focus only on them in your heart, your mind, and your body. Embrace your doubts. Notice them, make friends with them, and use them as a teaching tool to become aware of yourself. Your subconscious always tells you what feels like danger. Your critical mind's job is to keep you safe from all these familiar and unfamiliar dangers. Make them your allies. Despite your doubts, dare to dream! I am ready to create more balance in my life. Whenever I hear the word balance, I do not see the scales held by the blindfolded lady implying justice is blind. Instead, I see a teeter-totter. It goes up, it comes down - on both sides, until balance happens in between and both ends are held in suspension. So, my dear friend, in your life, when you are thinking of balance, remember balance is a balancing act. What are you going to do next, that will tip your balance for a bit and then you need to do something else, to tip the balance in the other direction. The sign libra is the scales and that is meant to remind us that we are constantly engaged in this balancing act. In relationships, you give you get. Your hormones need to be in balance for you to feel better, in other words you believe you are in charge for a bit, before your hormones do their own thing. LOL! Your accounting needs to be in balance, your assets and your liabilities, the money you earn or have and the money you spend. Each time the moon is in Libra, every month, we get to experience a bit of balance and also become aware of when we are not in balance and what you can do to return to balance. Returning to balance might be easy but staying in balance is a constant doing process. You have to be in action balancing it out with your resting. Your speaking, needs to be in balance with your listening. Similarly Your eating, with your eliminating. Etcetera!. It feels never ending, doesn't it? But that's the joy of life. To know that you are alive, you have to work on your balance. When not in balance, we fall, we hurt, we repair ourselves and return to the path of the yogi, the one doing the inner work to remain in balance. Balancing the heart with the mind. Our logic and our emotions. As you breathe in your body, you could experience balance within and bring about equanimity in our mind. It never ends, for as long as we exist. You know you exist, because of your ego. There's is nothing wrong with your ego. It just needs to have clarity and know that it's true nature is spirit. Hello, my dear braveheart. If you have worked with me, seen or heard me in the past, you know I keep things raw and real. I am a straight shooter and speak the truth as I see them. Now here’s the truth about me. I know I have fewer years to live than I have already lived so far. So without cutting corners and trying to be a pleaser, I will try to make you aware of things as I am growing aware of them. Karmic entrenchment is a real thing. You are continuously working through your karma as you keep creating new ones with each thought, emotion, feeling, word and action. Since you are reading/hearing this, let me guess, there is a difficult pattern in your life right now. You might have self-defeating feelings, and thoughts. So you speak self-defeating words and take self-defeating actions. In plain words, you are sabotaging yourself and you don’t even know how. You think you are trying to change and you do not feel supported. You feel like you just can’t win. Aha! But let me tell you, you can and you will when you own your thoughts, emotions, and feelings. You have to own yourself before you try changing things. As a human, we all are addicted to our emotions. You feel angry and then you get angry because you are feeling angry. Same with sadness. You feel sad and now you feel bad because you are feeling sad. It’s the same with other negative emotions like fear, guilt, hurt, pain, blame, shame, and doubts. Name it! Heck, you are addicted to your positive emotions too. When you feel good, you feel good that you are feeling good. We humans just want to feel good all the time, and never feel bad. This is what makes us either run away from stuff or towards things all the time while working past karma and creating new ones. Your karma keeps you stuck in old thoughts, behaviors, attachments and expectations. Through repetitive thoughts and actions you dig deeper into your karmic trench. The Buddha called it the pendulum that swings between aversion and clinginess. Either you feel aversion to things or you cling to them. Learn to recognize how your patterns play out in your relationships, work, and certainly in your beliefs, behaviors, and responses. The only way to change is to take responsibility for your past without any blame, shame, or guilt towards anyone including yourself. Trust me, it sounds easier said than done, but you can do it when you are working with someone, like a trusted guide. Yes, that’s my forte’. I help my clients work out past karma and create new ones that are more beneficial to them and their loved ones. This allows you to take charge of your current situation and therefore create a desired future. This is the first step in shifting your ideas, feelings, and past programming that make you hurt yourself. You might go for short term gains which hurt you in the long run. You will learn to slow down and take notice of your thoughts, and the way you feel and respond to what’s going on, around you and within you. This requires conscious effort every step of the way. And no, you cannot do it alone. No one can. You are not an island. You need a support system that is objective, tender, loving, and caring. Without working on your karma, you can continue through lifetimes thinking, feeling, speaking, and acting the same way and it will just be another life that came, lived, and left. But when you commit to working on your stuff, you not only dig yourself out of the hole you are in right now, but also the world gets to show up as a better place, one day at a time. You get to choose to stay in the same-old-same-old or step away and create new programming in which your past is a pleasant memory of experiences and lessons and the future is the desired one you get to create with healing, learning and effortless evolution. Find someone who will support you, guide you and hold you accountable. And if you can’t, then I am always here, yours truly!

How to nourish and heal? As a student of the Buddha and a Buddhist practitioner in many traditions, I know people suffer. So my quest has forever been – “how do I reduce suffering in myself and others? And “how to increase joy and happiness if myself and others?” For today’s episode, I have put together a few points. And yes, please with me until the end for your free gifts. I commit to mindful eating, drinking, and consuming every day and in every way. Am I always successful? No! But having a commitment as a guiding force is better than having no plans or intention of what and how to eat, drink and consume. It’s like when you have a map and a path, you might get distracted from your path, or get curious about something along the way and take a detour, but you will never stray too far or get lost because you have a guiding map for your journey. You can always easily return to your path. Similarly, your commitment will never let you stray too far and you will always know what, when, and how to consume because you know what’s right for you. This is because I want to cultivate and enjoy good health – physically, emotionally, and mentally. One body, one mind, one heart, one life, why mess up? I know unmindful consumption is the cause of suffering, so each day I work on keeping unmindfulness to its minimum. I try to remain aware of how, when, and what I reach for. Through introspection, I realize why I am doing what I doing, even when I know it’s hurt me in the past and is redundant. I didn’t need it, but I still did it. Once I figure it out, I dissolve my pain through self-forgiveness and self-compassion. And then I resolve my commitment to be kinder to myself and not hurt myself next time by needing to consume unhealthy food, drinks, noise, visuals, and anything else through the five senses. I know I am a creature of habit, so most of the things I do are from habit. Each time I become aware of my habitual action, I weaken it. And if I can stop my action of reaching out for something unhealthy, I gain more power over the habit. It’s a good thing. It’s an empowering experience. When we think of bad habits, we might think of extremes like gambling, consuming alcohol, doing drugs, pornography, mindless gaming, books, magazines, idle conversations, and gossip. True, they are all things that will hurt you, and the more you say no to them, the more yeses you get in life because you are saying yes to yourself and no to mindlessness. When you live in the present moment, you nourish yourself, you refresh yourself, and you heal yourself. Sorrows and regrets begin dwindling and joy and contentment begin filling you up. Besides sorrows and regrets, anxieties and fears also drag us down, and the only way out is by being true to your promises to yourself, as much as possible, each day. Loneliness is what makes you most do what is not nice for you and eventually harmful because now you are ruled by habits that arise out of unprocessed negative emotions. I would rather contemplate how I am part of the greater whole and how everything affects everything else. There are no lonely islands. Even if you feel you are, the streams around this lonely island that you claim to be, connect you to other islands. The air you breathe is the air those around you breathe, so your exhalation became someone else’s inhalation and someone’s exhalation became your inhalation. When you can contemplate just this much for a minute a day, you will realize how you are part of everything that was, is, and will be. You and me and one. What Is The Single Most Effective Self-Care Or Healing Ritual That Anyone Can Try? As an introvert, this is important for me, and for as old as I am (which is fifty-six years) and as long as I have been in the personal growth industry (twenty-two years), I know this to be true for extroverts as well. “Lone time is the best time.” More than anything I crave space. No company is better than any negative company to me. People I live with, I love and no one is negative, yet at times I feel their presence as an intrusion. So, my dear, I schedule thirty minutes of daily downtime in nature. Now if this is not possible for you right now, try taking ninety-minute me-time four days a week. It’s not a luxury, it’s a must-have for optimal mental, emotional and physical wellness, in my model of the world. If being without headsets, a book, or a journal for thirty minutes a day, sounds scary, try it for ten minutes and then increase it by one minute a day until you get to the thirty-minute. Use the timer on your phone to let you know when this time of being with yourself in nature or a neighborhood park with no one and nothing around you to take you away from your mental silence is up. Even as an introvert, I had to learn to cancel mental and emotional noise and need for distractions and get comfortable being with myself. Today, I do not feel lonely in my solitude. And, this is how I learned to create space for myself, for self-care and self-healing. I learned that if I want to be comfortable with others around me and have others be comfortable with having me around I need to be comfortable with myself alone. Mastery of this ritual takes time and I am still a work in progress, yet this is the only way that’s most effective for me to stay happy, healthy, peaceful, purposeful, and feel abundant and prosperous. My soul craves it and my heart and mind need it for keeping my hormones, organs, bones, and joints healthy, strong, and youthful.

#3 - How To Increase Your Personal Magnetism
The What, Why, and How of Personal Magnetism Hello, my dear Braveheart. Hope you are having a really good day so far. Before I begin, I want you to know that I have two gifts for you which I will share with you at the end of the show. So please stay with me until the end. Thank you. Now that I am done with announcements, let’s get on with this episode. And, the topic for the day is personal magnetism. You and I are social creatures, and one of the things that make us the happiest is having others around us to connect with. Even if you say I like animals more than people, you are happier when you have a human to share your animal with, don’t you? Now you and I both have a few relations, personal or professional we struggle with. Let’s explore how can we make them better. The topic for the day is personal magnetism or in other words, it’s your attraction factor. Another word for personal magnetism is charisma. And, Marianne Williamson has something wonderful to say to describe charisma. According to Williamson “charisma is the sparkle in people that money can’t buy. It’s an invisible energy with visible effects.” Now, how profound is that? Did you know that charismatic people are not born? It’s a skill learned by many in order to lead a successful life. Before I get into how personal magnetism can be developed, let me share with you why it needs to be developed if you must succeed and feel loved by others in your life, be happy, healthy, peaceful, and prosperous. You could be a very kind-hearted person who knows what you are talking about and yet after people get what they need from you they leave you. Or you may have experienced initial success and happiness in your life and now you wonder what happened over the years and how can you turn the clock back. Everyone has their own reason for needing to be more charismatic and develop their personal magnetism. Things never stay the same, they either get better or worse. And, even if you believe that you are the best that ever existed, you still need to work at continuing to be the best. When you take things for granted you might slip and not know when you lost your first position to another. So, how do you increase your personal magnetism? First, you have to know who you are. Are you a kind person or a competent person or you may be both? And if you are, kudos! Pat your shoulder and congratulate yourself. Here’s another question. Do people find you friendly when they meet you or feel intimidated by you? You might consider yourself generous and affectionate to those close to you, but someone else who is the life of a party continuously keeps stealing the show. You might be fun to be around but when it comes to business someone else gets all the inquiries and signed contracts. Why? So it’s important to know how you come across to others. Get a fact check from your coach, mentor, or anyone who loves you enough to tell you the truth without the fear of losing your love. Make a list of what you are good at that can get better, and another list of what you need to work on to increase your personal magnetism. Personal magnetism or charisma is a combination of warmth and competence. There are many ways to improve your charisma. If being warm and friendly is a challenge then think of happy memories with a loved one before you begin a conversation with anyone. Lean in when you want to be friendly and lean back when you want to prove a point. Be mindful of your posture, it takes practice and you can do it. Here’s another exercise. Look at the mirror and try feeling both positive and negative emotions and notice how your facial expression changes with each emotion. When you are talking to a person and you are feeling a certain emotion, remember your facial expression is reflecting your emotion. Again, with practice, and mindfulness you can master this art. Look at the other person with an unbiased gaze and authentic smile. If judgments are running amok in your head know that the other person can sense it. And, if you feel you are getting interrupted while speaking, remember listening is part of the conversation too. Compassionate listening and loving speech make you an attractive person. Also, when you tilt your head in one direction, blood flows to the other side of the brain. So, tilt your head in both directions to come across as a friendly person. Also, keep your arms uncrossed even when you are on the phone. When you are communicating, words are 7% and tonality is 38% of the conversation while body language is 55%. Start any conversation with something light, positive and neutral. Ask questions that you know people will agree with in their responses. e.g. say something like “aren’t we having great weather?” and let your audience agree with you. But if you feel the weather is bad, don’t ask this question. You can ask something like “tell me something exciting about your week or day so far”. Lean into the positive even when you are consoling someone who just lost a loved one. Tell them you are there for them and ask what can you help with. Be vulnerable and authentic. Last but not least be both humble and confident. Don’t brag, and don’t play small. Always start a conversation with something light and positive. Optimize the words you use with both warmth and competence, reminding others that you know your stuff and that you also care about them. My quest for happiness had brought me there, and here the answer staring back at me was there was no way to happiness. Hello, my dear brave heart! If you are even slightly curious about how to be happier from within, then welcome to and I am your host Keya Murthy. At the time of this recording, it has been seventeen years that I have served my clients as a spiritual life coach, clinical hypnotherapist, and master healer teacher. In helping many thousands find their true north, in the form of happiness, health, peace, and purpose, I myself, became a happier, healthier, more peaceful person with the sole purpose to help you heal, be healthier, and happier. Let me share a bit about what and how I can help you and why. I have lived a rich life, wearing many hats, with multiple careers, lived in many parts of the world, traveled through more, been married, divorced, raised children into adult global citizens, all the time, working on myself. I currently call California home and am originally from India. I was born and lived for 12 years in northeast India where tea grows, tigers roam in the forests and rhinoceroses. Since I was fourteen I worked as a tutor helping students weak in their studies with passing their finals with flying colors in just one year. I always get bored doing one thing, so had many jobs, while being a full-time student. I have a bachelors in physics and a master's in computer science. At 23, I started work as a software engineer, and this career continued for sixteen years. After the 911 attacks, the global economy changed. The software company I was working for went bust and all the employees were laid off. For six months I received my unemployment and this made me wonder. I have a master’s degree. I am an American citizen. I have twelve years of experience in this industry, yet today I am without a job. The jobs are leaving the country because people are dispensable. I realized I did what I was expected to do. Get an education, get a job, get married, buy a house, and have children. But nothing means anything because I am not aligned with my higher purpose, nothing makes me happy. I realized I was surrounded by people who had money and yet felt miserable. In my world of other highly qualified software engineers, and corporate employees with six-figure incomes, we were all chasing the American dream, yet feeling lost, lonely, getting diagnosed with one disease or the other, popping pills, going through surgeries, and not knowing why things were happening the way they were, although we were doing all the things we were told to do. After four more years of struggling through job searching, raising kids and running a household, and trying my hand at many network marketing companies, I quit my American dream of working for others and decided to work for myself. I went to India. Meditating at the top of the Himalayas, I realized I was asking the wrong questions and hence getting the wrong answers. I spent 90 days in the summer of 2004 in India at a silent retreat in my guru’s monastery. I knew I was good at being happy, healthy, courageous, and loving. All the people I knew also wanted the same things, to be happy, healthy, feel safe, and loved. Whatever I did next would be to help others find just that: happiness, love, good health, and feeling safe. I returned to school to learn how to help people overcome their limiting beliefs and change habits that keep them stuck. I became a clinical hypnotherapist and Reiki Master. Astrology has been a lifesaver for me, it helps me understand those who are not pleasant. The lessons from my life of overcoming one challenge after another, and defying naysayers have helped me build an awesome career and life where I get to heal one soul at a time, from the hurts of the past, and learn to say yes to their future selves, their true selves.
