The Walk - (Exodus) Tabernacle Study - Wk 4 - Chapter 18&19
Exodus 18 · Exodus 18 is historically out of order o Jethro knew Jehoveh’s name o Jethro knew where the mount of God was § Moses probably took him here after the burning bush o Jethro offered an "Olah" and a "Zevah" sacrifice for the God of Israel. Both of which were very specific and given after where Ch 17 and 20 are in historical order · Jethro, the priest of Midian o Jethro is a pagan priest o The repetitive and heavy-handed use of the phrase “father-in-law” suggests more than a relationship, but that Jethro carried true authority over Moses § Moses prostrate himself and kissed him § Moses was “adopted” into Jethro’s family during his 40 years after fleeing Egypt after the murder of the Egyptian guard § Moses left Jethro and his family to return to his people in Egypt. · Zipporah’s narrative starts with her traumatic response to the circumcision of her son (Ex 2:16-21; 4:24-26) o Zipporah circumcises the first born to keep Yehoveh from killing him, due to Moses disobedience about circumcision as he goes to meet Pharoah about Israel, the “first born son” of Yehoveh. § Midianite custom to circumcise just before marriage. Moses appeasing his wife? · Zipporah is not mentioned again after this. Strangely, there is no account of Moes and Zipporah’s meeting. In Num 21:1, Moses marries another woman. o The two sons stay with Moses and become Israelites. The son of Gershom was in a scandal over a carved image (Judges 18:30) o Jethro’s "cuts a covenant" [in Hebrew "b'rit"] § Confess Yehoveh to be “El”, the greatest § This was Jethro’s covenant conversion ceremony · Jethro establishes the first judicial system of Israel o Man made, not God ordained – yet God allowed it § Did not involve the Priests or Levites, it was Social § Remains as the model for the church in the NT -> 1Tim 3, Titus 2 § Well organized and allowed the nation to survive/function o GROUPS OF 10, 50, 100, AND 1000, each group has a leader § Leaders of 10s reported to leaders of 50 § Leaders of 50s reported to leaders of 100 § Leaders of 100s reported to leaders of 1000 § Leaders of 1000's reported to Moses. Moses was the final authority Exodus 19 · Third month after leaving Egypt -> month of Sivan o Ten “Words” given during what would become the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) · A New Covenant was being formed o Abrahamic Covenant was more of a Promise, this was more like a traditional covenant. o If you obey my voice (words), keep my Covenant, you will be a special treasure -> a kingdom of priests, a HOLY nation o Unprecedented relationship between "a god" and man o Mt. Sinai Covenant would be fundamentally different as Israel had OBLIGATIONS § Suzerain - an agreement between UN-equals § Neither covenant precisely fits the mold of human covenants of that era o A Covenant never replaces another Covenant, they are additive. Each covenant has a Purpose and an Age. (See diagram) § Some elements of the two earlier covenants were transformed with the covenant of Christ. · Those transformed elements were things which had pointed to future fulfillments o EXAMPLE: Sacrificial system fulfilled by Yeshua's blood. § Each covenant was full and complete for its intended PURPOSE · Each new covenant didn't "improve" on an earlier one · Israel camped before the mountain, Moses went up o A barrier was constructed to keep the people away for their own protection – lest they touch the HOLY mountain and die § The place marketed as Mt Sinai today is not it. It doesn’t match any of the descriptive markers or described location. The real location (Horeb in Arabia) still has stone walls around it today and other archeological evidence. (See picture) o Mankind cannot stand on Holy Ground o Ritual washing SYMBOLIC of spiritual cleansing § Outward (ritual) washing cannot produce inward purity § Mosaic Covenant system of ritual bathing and washing was just a TEACHING and a SHADOW of what ONLY Christ could do § 3rd day – number of Perfection § Do not have sex with your wives (uncleaness in the upcoming covenant) · uncleaness ¹ sin · God gives Moses alone permission to ascend and approach Him o Sound of the shofar -> shook the ground (same as in Revelation) o “Fire” on top, all covered in “smoke” -> The Glory of God’s Presence o No one else can approach -> Moses alone had been declared Holy by Yehoveh (Similar to burning bush) § Aaron was allowed to be in a mid-level that we will see explained later, Moses could stand on the summit § Pattern is the same as the tabernacle o Priests at that time were the firstborns, priesthood not established yet § Mediator progression was from family head, to the first born, to Levi (substituted firstborns), to the High Priest (family of Aahron from within Levi), to Yeshua the First Born of the Living and Eternal High Priest and Mediator

The Walk - (Exodus) Tabernacle Study - Wk 3 - Chapter 17
Exodus 17 – Yeshua Depicted · Traveling from Seen Desert to Refidim o “in stages” · Quarreled with Moshe -> wanted water o Why are you testing Yehoveh? · Moshe takes leaders of Israel (high elders) ahead to Horev o Yah says “I will stand in front of you” o Yehoveh commands Moshe to strike the rock with the staff that he struck the Red See with § Nacah (strike) – means to harm, to kill, to attack with violence § Nacah also refers to a court trial · Rabbi’s puzzle over this word being used here as it is not the normal word for this context. Therefore, they struggle to explain it. However, we have no trouble! o “Water” of life ran out (and is still there today) § Named Massah [testing] and M’rivah [quarreling] § Quarreled against Yehoveh, not Moshe…. · Amalek came and fought with Israel at Refidim o Y’hoshua choose men to go out and fight § Call Hoshea (help/Salvation) before the battle § Yehoshua (Yah Saves) is long form of Yeshua = Jesus § Took “chosen men” to “fight a battle against the enemy” o Moshe, Aharon, and Hur are on top of the hill § Moshe holds up the staff -> Y’hoshua wins § Moshe puts down his staff -> Enemy wins § Moshe sits on a rock (Matthew 7:24-25) · Staff is the symbol of Yehoveh’s authority, “held on high” o Aharon/Hur (priesthood) assist in the holding up the holding up o Put the whole picture together….. · Yehoveh vows to blot out Amalek from under heaven · Yehoveh Nissi (Yehoveh is my [war] banner) o Yah is short for Yehoveh · Write it in a Book….. · Go back to Exodus 15:22-26 · Arrived at Marah [“unbearable” bitterness], water could not be drunk o “Special piece of wood” was shown to Moshe by Yehoveh § Thrown into the water, made it taste good o Depicts the crucifixion of Yeshua § A special wood -> water from His side -> bitterness becomes Good · It says in verse 25, there He made for them o a Choq – task, rule, law o and a Mishpat – the ruling of a judge -> God’s Judgements o and there he Nayha – tested or proved them -> to be put on trial § Remember these from last week….. o Listen intently to Yehoveh’s voice, do what HE considers right, pay attention to HIS mishpat [judgements] and observer HIS choq [task/words] -> will not afflict you as the Egyptians, but will be your Rafa[healer]

The Walk - (Exodus) Tabernacle Study - Wk 2 - Chapter 16
We begin our study in Ch 16 tonight. Notes: The Walk – Exodus 16 · Some Hebrew words: o Choq – task, rule, law o Mishpat – the ruling of a judge -> God’s Judgements o Nayha – test or prove -> to be put on trial · US government system: o Legislative – elective representatives make laws by majority rule o Judicial – court system determines if laws have been broken, and if laws fit within our Constitutional principles o Executive – enact trade, control military o Israel’s government is a theocracy and most closely resembles our Judicial branch § It’s Yehoveh’s laws, and He is the Judge. The OT “laws” are therefore His mishpat. § These “laws” will come in the form of a conditional covenant [and aren’t what you think they are….] · Covenants do not “replace” other covenants. All Covenants remain until they are entirely fulfilled. · Read Matthew 5:17-20 · 613 Commands, 1/4 deal with sacrifice, all point to one of the “10 Commandments” o Do you think the 10 Commandments still apply to Christians? o I believe as we continue in this study, your going to find that a lot you thought you knew about the law is incorrect – both in its nature and application · Journeyed to “Seen” [not sin] o About a month living on the food they brought out of Egypt o Just a thought from Ch 15….Israel needed about 10 million gallons of water per day to survive. o Pots of meat and full of bread -> disillusioned complaints, they were starving in Egypt · Rain lechem = “bread” · I will nayha = “put them on trial” regarding their obedience to Yehoveh’s misphat · Man hu = “what is it?” · Gathered an omer (1-2 quarts) per person o Each person would have exactly 1 omer. § Supernaturally, the amount was fixed. If they gather more, or less, at the time of measurement they still only had an omer § Likewise, on the 6th day they gathered 1 omer but at the time of measure it was 2 omer. · Yehoveh created the Sabbath with Cration and as part of His mishpat, therefore He does not violate it – even today. · Yehoveh asks, “how long will you refuse to observe my mishpat?” · More on the Sabbath in Ex 20 lesson. · At twilight ate meat o Natural means to supply supernatural purposes o To this day in the Sinai region, huge flocks of quail land exhausted and are scooped up by the native inhabitants · Kevod Yehoveh = “Glory of the Lord” o It’s the same cloud of fire. God’s Glory is in the cloud. o The fulfillment of meat and bread proves that it is Yehoveh o 9/10 times when you see Lord or God, it is Yehoveh § Interlinear concordance usually says Adonai. This is a Jewish traditional replacement § Note: Jehovah is a German slur of Yehoveh · 2 quarts of man-hu are eventually most likely put in the Ark of the Covenant for future generations to Believe. o Moses did not personally write all 5 Books of the Torah (teachings). Others contributed § The Torah wasn’t Moses’s diary o The Torah is not written in perfect chronological order. Some writings were added once in Cannan.

The Walk – Exodus Study · Refresher/New Comer Overview o The Walk – 1John 2:6 – “whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.” – ESV § Ought = “to owe a debt” § Apostles -> bondservants o Contact info § § Weekly Podcast: corrycraine.libsyn.com o The class curriculum and direction is determined by the questions and the interest of those in it. § At the end of last semester, a study of the wilderness tabernacle was requested. So, I have spent all summer preparing for this. As I did, I made a startling discovery. As a result, I’m expanding the breadth of the study to include cataloging the “Commands” of the OT. o I am becoming a Jewish Roots teacher § Give credit to Tom Bradford – TorahClass.com (Seed of Abraham Ministries) § The entire Bible was written by Jew’s, about a Jewish Messiah. How can you hope to understand the Bible (OT or NT) if you don’t understand the Jewish context? § Reading the OT in English translation is like kissing your bride through her veil · Therefore, I’m starting to learn to speak, read, and write Hebrew § The Catholic and ultimately the Evangelical Church have removed ALL Jewishness from the “Christian” Faith · We have become a branch without a tree o Per the Scriptures, Gentiles are grafted and adopted into Israel · Why remove Jewishness? -> Christianity was “Romanized” -> establishes authority of the Emperor as the Highest god. o Date of Edict: March 7, 321 AD. The Mandate: Commanded judges, city residents, and craftsmen to rest on the "venerable day of the sun". § Venerable - accorded a great deal of respect, typically because of age, wisdom, character, or long-standing status § Used as a title in the Catholic Church for someone who achieves “sainthood” · Errors in pairs – legalism/hedonism o Rabbinical Judaism vs Biblical Judaism o Constantinian Christianity vs Biblical Christianity o I believe Biblical Christianity is Transformed Biblical Judaism and therefore should be one in the same for all practical purposes. · Beginning in Ch 16. Focus on how God makes Israel His People and how that projects into our lives today. o Recommend you get a 3-ring binder and some tab sheets for your notes or bring your laptop/tablet. I will be giving you a LOT of information that you will need to organize and review as we progress. · Background and premise o God is a Covenant God § How Convenance works § 3 Primary Covenant Seals · Transformation of the Whole Person o God bought Israel out of Bondage/Slavery § Act of Grace -> Redeemed His People § Wondering in the desert is the beginning of Sanctification o Establish timeline -> Saga begins with Passover – Nissan 10 § Exodus 16 begins on the 15th day of the 2nd month (Iyyar 15) § Introduce calendar circle handout o History Summary § Creation of mankind and it’s fall into sin § God gives mankind a second chance with the flood § Mankind quickly returns to wickedness and God slows their progression by confusing their languages (Babylon). § God has brought Abram out from among his people and made a Covenant with him to father His Holy People. § Abraham’s descendants escape the famine in Egypt and stayed there 430 years (Ex 12:40), growing into a people in the millions. § A Pharoh arose who did not remember Joseph and feared the size of the people and enslaves and oppresses them. § God frees His People and brings destruction to Pharoh and shows His Might over the god’s of Egypt § We pick up in Exodus 16 just after the Red Sea and the Song of Moses · Next week, we will begin by reading and then breaking down Exodus 16. Feel free to read in advance. o Always come to class, even if you think you are unprepared.

The Walk - Holidays verses Holy Days - Episode 1 (The Christmas Story)
During one of the lessons on the Sabbath, I made mention that Jesus as not born on Dec 25th, but more likely on Nissan 1, which corresponds to the end of March/first of April. As a result, the class wanted to know why I said this. In that vain, we are going to embark on a study of the origins of the common US holidays and then a contrast study on the "Holy Days" called out in the Feasts of the Lord. In this first episode, I go through the "Christmas Story" found in scripture and look at what it says - and doesn't say, distinguishing between cultural traditions and biblical record. Additionaly, I cover things not normally recognized in the scriptures and their significance to the Gosple woven throughout it all. This series will kick back off in January. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! See you again in 2026 - Lord Willing!
