Setting up an Intentional Bio March 23- Setting Up an Intentional Bio Your social media bio is one of the first things your leads will see when they check you out. So it’s important to be intentional on what we put in there! Here are some tips on how to create a bio as a network marketer: (Before we dive in, make sure you know the policies and restrictions of the company that you’re partnered with) Remember these two rules: Take out your company’s facebook page from your “About me” section. Because If someone looks at your profile and you direct them to your company’s page, you’ve automatically lost that lead. Again, you don’t work for that company. You’re an independent contractor that is partnered with them Remove any external shopping links. You want to capture any leads, so the links that are in there should direct to your profile or personal website that is 100% yours. Facebook On Facebook, you will have several lines of text in your bio. So don’t waste it by indicating in any way that you are a “rep.” You are trying to avoid making an impression to your leads that they’re only going to be sold to. Include your personal pillars. This is like your dating profile where people with similar interests can connect with you. (See my profile for an example of this ) You can add an optional power statement. For me, it’s something like, “I help women in network marketing show up authentically themselves.” You’re not trying to sell in your statement, but you make people understand what you do instead. You can change up your bios and add links to your current challenges, free training, events, etc. You can change your bio quarterly, as long as it’s aligned with you at the present. Instagram On Instagram, There is one space for one link- and as a network marketer, that is dedicated only to your Facebook group or personal website. You bio should explain why your leads should stick around— what do they expect from your feed or what are you sharing? Is it a makeup tutorial? How to prepare meals as a busy mom? Whatever you share on your feed should show up in your bio Your highlight provides your audience an opportunity to see quickly what kind of content you share. So your highlights should include stuff that your bio and feed describes. Your highlights let people know what to expect Adding a few emojis is recommended, as long as it represents your authentic self. Don’t be afraid to play with it—but keep it simple! Funnel to the Next Steps Funnel to the next steps Access the six-video series about Facebook growth on our DSDB Community Be sure to hop on to the previous episodes where we figure out our personal pillars, then where we design our businesses on Facebook. Because now we’re going to talk about how are people going to get there! Your Facebook Group Your Facebook group is your community where you ultimately build your brand, connections, and business. This is where your audience can ask questions, converse with fellow members, find products, search topics, see your posts, and so much more. This is YOUR community. So as a direct seller, your Facebook group is your end goal. Thus make sure to always get your audience to your Facebook group! Brand consistency Before we proceed, let’s take note of brand consistency. It helps your audience find, resonate, and recognize your brand. This means having the same account name/handle, brand look, and vibes all across your social media platform so people can find and recognize you quickly. So how do you direct your audience on Instagram, Youtube, podcast, and other social media to your Facebook group? Funnels Display photos > Utilize your account profile picture and cover photo to introduce your brand and direct people to your Facebook group. On the description of your photos, be sure to include the link to your group so interested people would immediately know where the next step is in connecting with you. > Do NOT put your products or company name on your display photos because people would think that your main purpose is to sell them stuff. Again, you are more than just your company and products. You want people to connect with YOU and your brand. > Updating your pictures once a month is recommended. > If you want additional resources on how to create your profile and cover photos for business, go to my friend’s Kate’s Business Group! Bio > No matter what social media platform you use, you will have a bio. In here, you write who you are and your touch points to make connections with (aka your personal pillars.) > With that being said, you should not have your shopping or company links on your personal bio. Again, you don’t want your audience to feel like they are being sold to. We want genuine connections. > You can add links to your other social media accounts or website, but make sure that your Facebook group is your priority and is on the top of the list. > You can add emojis or different fonts, but remember you would want your business space to come across as professional and clean. (Unless being disorganized and abrasive is your branding) > You can update your bio quarterly or as often as needed Content descriptions > Whatever you post online, as long as it’s appropriate, be sure to add the link to your Facebook group in the description. Better if you can include your Facebook group in the video/photo content itself! Your Facebook group is the space for you to hang out with your community, create relationships, and sell products. Designing your Coffee Shop or Tea House How to build your Facebook group as a Direct Seller Now that you have figured out your personal pillars and community value from , we will now talk about how you can build your brand and grow your community! Your brand is your space for connection. You know the feeling when you talk with another person about things that both of you are interested in? There’s an instant connection. And that’s how you want your Facebook group to feel like– a place where your members would feel calm and comfortable to be themselves. And as an entrepreneur, you have to in your group in a way that’s authentic to you. Think of it as your own coffee shop that you are designing. How do you want it to look and feel like? What feels comfortable and inviting for you? What’s the vibe? (Check out .) Write it all down, think of it as yours, and then apply it to your Facebook group. It is the same with your business. You get to choose the company you are partnered with, what your business offers, and what your community values are. Naming your group Here are a few tips for naming your group to help you get started! Understanding your Personal Pillars and Community Value We are now stepping into 2023 and that means new stuff coming in! Go check out our resources on achieving our dreams this year in the DBSB group. This includes how you can map out your journey. And before we dive in, I want you to write, “I can be excited about my own journey. It is designed by me, for me. And it is beautiful and important just the way it is.” No matter what your ventures are, remember that it is yours and you own it. My big word this year is “Explore.” So my themes this year would revolve around this idea. Your online group Your online group, specifically on Facebook, is your community and your avenue to connect with your audience, customers, prospects, and more. And before we discuss how you can grow your group, we have to know first why people are jumping in there and why it is important for us direct sellers. Your personal pillars Your personal pillars are the 3-5 things that describe who you are, not what you do. And this does not include your company. Remember that as a direct seller, you are an independent contractor: they don’t own you and you don’t work for them. Your business is yours, you are merely partnered with the company. Think of your personal pillar as your dating profile. It is your avenue to connect with people who have the same interests as you. So it has to be authentic to you. It could be what lights you up. Whether that’s yoga, paper crafting, Christianity, mountains, lipstick, or anything that describes your interests. You can make it more niche down. Like a first time makeup enthusiast. A mickey mouse collector. A crunchy mom. Because someone else will look at your pillars and say, “oh, me too. I understand her.” And that’s how your group—through your pillars— becomes a space for connection. This is how you create a connection for you. Not based on your company or what you sell. Community Value Your Facebook group is your community. If we’re going to remove your products from your group, why are people in your group? What are the conversations going on in that space? So what do you want those answers to be? What do you want them to be there for? Maybe your community value is helping busy moms with young kids create memories around meal time, and provide better meal planning solutions. Or maybe your company is colorstreet. So your products are nails, skincare, haircare, lipsticks. Your community value can be about helping women age 20-40 feel good in their skin and reminding them to have time for themselves. Your product may contribute to your community value. But your community value can stand alone without your products. Your community values are why people join, stay, and invite others in your group. And if you build your relationships because they connect with you on your personal pillar and community value, conversations around your product would be easier. And they wouldn’t feel like products are being shoved down their throats. People know you, trust you, and they see why you are recommending this product. Controlling what we can in Team Growth with guest, Wendy Taggart As you grow and develop who you are, your passions and interest will change too. Thus your brand will change too. And that’s okay. You can make adjustments in your business as long as these changes are serving you and are true to you. You are the business owner so you are the one in . So if something doesn’t bring you joy or isn’t serving your end goal anymore, you can close that chapter. The same thing happens with team growth. What we can control Like what we’ve discussed in the previous episodes, we can only control our and the conversations we have. In team growth, we can’t control who shows up or collaborate consistently, but we can control what we share with them and how we do it. We can’t control who responds to us or not, but we can control our Facebook lives, how many stories we post, how often we ask, etc. (See also .) So every time you feel stuck in your business, it’s the time to step back and ask, “am I controlling what I can?” Remember that you don’t have to do everything all the time but you can manage your time wisely! How to encourage team growth When your brand or community is going through some changes, you have to focus on what you can control and let your girls join you in your journey. Here are a few tips on how you can get your members to hop on board: Have a monthly list of 50 (highlighted) members and 20 celebrations. Make your members feel that you are showing up for them as their friends more than as business partners and that you value their successes. The goal of these lists is not only to motivate them to reach their business goals but to also encourage participation in the group. Always ask your girls how they’re doing and how you can help. What can you do together? Your members see your consistency (ex: a monthly check-in.) And this consistency helps your members incorporate your group activities into their business routines. Always highlight your pillars and community value. When you have fully developed your ‘why’ behind your brand, more people would resonate with it. They would see that your group is more than just a selling team. Open up some of your life’s shenanigans to your group so they can understand the changes and they can get updates from you. Don’t be afraid to share knowledge and space with people who have the same goals and interests as you. This way, you can . The Importance of Happy Dances with guest, Shea Smith Get your journal here: The focus of this month is rest and restore and last week we have talked about how it is unsustainable to always be hustling, and using some practical and easy ways. So now we’re going to talk about another mode of rest and how we can incorporate it into our lives! Celebrate! One of the most underrated forms of rest is celebration. Not only does it motivate (thus, restore) you, but it also gives you the needed assurance when you feel you’re not doing enough or you feel guilty for taking a break. Practicing celebrations is also a way to grow your business. So be consistent with celebrating your wins! Practicing celebrations Celebrating wins is like building a staircase. Look at the small wins you have on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, and start noticing them. Here are some practical steps you can do to cultivate this habit: Remind yourself of your wins. You could do this by printing out the compliments/accolades/wins you receive and put them somewhere visible to you. Or you could have a ‘win calendar’ where you can mark when there’s something that progressed in your business or personal life. Now this may seem tedious, but it’s worth it. Because months would pass and you would feel that nothing is improving, but when you look at your win calendar, you would see the . Celebrate the wins of others. When you are a network marketer, the successes of each of your team member is your success too. Because that means you’re making an impact. But if you struggle with negative comparison, try to see the wins of others as an inspiration. If they can do it, then you can too! It’s also important to build up that circle that would celebrate with you and would encourage you to keep going. When you are , the right people will come to you. And you can celebrate this too. Train your brain to celebrate the hard things that you do and that you’re not doing them because you “should.” Celebrate the small wins. Celebrating doesn’t have to be a huge moment. It can be as small as appreciating your environments, making your bed in the morning, bonding with your family with no phones, creating new friends, etc. As long as you… Figure out your own version of success. In this way, you will be able to appreciate your wins more and actually feel fulfilled in them. What does success looks like to you? If it feels like there's nothing to celebrate about... and nothing seems to be going in your favor, take a pause and point out what is going well now. What is something you can control now? Is it sending a few messages to your group members? Is it doing a few household chores? You can take on those small tasks during rock bottom times and celebrate that. But better if you just take a rest! So as you finish this blog, I want you to make a list. List 15 things in this moment that you are celebrating for yourself. Get specific. And then list another 15 things that you want to celebrate by the end of this month. Set an intention and follow through. Write down your wins and ! Cultivating Rest in the Midst of Hustle Culture If we’re not careful, it’s easy to get caught up to the hustle and bustle of everything that we “have” to do. Especially when you are a network marketer, you are always running and chasing goals! And if you’ve been following me, you would know that . Marathon athletes don’t run everyday— they also take days for rest, yoga, and other stuff. Yet they’re still good at what they do. And we need to treat our businesses the same way. I want us to look back into our lives and see that we’re able to take care of ourselves. When we rest, we will be able to do things better. In addition, as women, we sometimes lose when we step into motherhood. So one of the things I regularly ask my clients is, “What are you doing for you?” “What are the things you enjoy that isn’t tied to your business or title as a mom?” Answer that so you can start to figure out what “rest” looks like for you. Practical steps to achieve rest Naps definitely are a part of rest. But for me, it’s more than that. Rest is something that gives you comfort, sigh, security, stillness. That sense of “everything’s okay.” And that is what we need to cultivate. The grounding practice While drinking your water or juggling a few things, take a pause and ask yourself these: Where am I? What’s around me? How do I feel? What emotions am I feeling? What do I physically feel around me? What are my feet touching? Is it hot or cold? Is it soft or squishy? Is there a sun on my face? What am I thankful for in this moment? What do I need to do in this moment? Is it still something I need to do? Then drink your water, and move on. When you are able to cultivate a pause in that moment, you can wash away . Take a pause and figure out, what’s important for you in this moment? And it’s okay if you have to skip a few stuff like going on social media or meeting some friends. You don’t have to always be in the run! Running Challenges in a Newer Group So we have talked about several tips on how we can in our groups without looking too sales-y. You can easily navigate that now with appropriate knowledge and stable connections with your members. But how about if you are a new group? Or if you are new to the network marketing business? This is what Tiffany and I have discussed in our coffee chat call. (You have a question of your own? !) Building the foundation After you have found your people, . If you do it right, you should be able have an engaging, active group in the first six months. Here are tips on how you can start with your challenges: You don’t have to make paid challenges yet, especially if you are just starting your relationship with your members. You could use resources that you have as from your challenges. This is a great lead magnet to your group. For example, after they have taken the challenge, you could say, “Hey! you could now get access to this resource in my group for free!” Have conversations with people that let them know what to expect. If you are going live, you could go to your previous posts and comment back to your members, “Hey I’m going live” so they could receive the notifications Remember to stay authentic even if you’re just starting out. In this way, you attract and keep the right people who went there for YOU (check out .) You’ll be able to keep them years down the line even if you switch companies or make several changes in your group. Understand that achieving growth doesn’t mean everything should be perfect. It’s okay if your daughter smack you with a product during your live. A lot of moms in this business go through that. And people connect better to an who they can relate to. When hosting a party or have something planned for your members, have simple graphics that talk about who it’s for, why they want to join, where to get more information. Getting back into a Content Schedule with Coaching Guest, Tania Griffin In today’s coffee chat call with Tania, we will be discussing about how to make planning our content easier. If you have other questions or want a consultation call with me, go ahead and ! Keeping up with content It’s common for us to slack, lose motivation, and get stuck in creating content for our businesses. Sometimes it feels like you're running out of creative juices or you're not sure what’s working anymore. Especially when you notice that you lack engagement and sales. Now let’s get into the basics. We want sales but we don’t want our content to look so sales-y, right? So how do we do this right? The best way to plan is to have an outline and a guide. One of the best things you can do to in your group is to have ate least three lives a week: one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening on different days. In that way you’re catching different people. And here’s the guides in planning for those lives: One is a coffee chat talking about your day/week. No selling agenda, it’s just a connection piece. Then one is a product live where you pick one product and say surrounding it. Tip: Mention reasons for buying the product, highlight the functionality, and attach scenarios/stories where your audience could relate to. In your lives, provide solutions to every one's problems. Then lastly, there should be one live about your passion and purpose. Highlight your community value! It’s the kind of discussion where you are educating, inspiring, . It’s a good conversation starter, because you can build up engagement without sounding too “hey come buy my stuff.” You could also have posts that ask your audience’s preferences. For example, when your company releases new outfit patterns, you could have stories/posts that ask your audience, this or that? Yay or nay? and so on. As long as you have those core pieces in mind (coffee chat, product, community value) it will be easier for you to plan. Increasing Social Media Engagement We have another coaching session that I would like to share with you! Brianne and I discussed about increasing engagement in our direct sales businesses. Have you been struggling with low engagement, unresponsive hosts, no interactions, in your group? It’s frustrating, I know. But this doesn’t have to be your fate forever. There’s a few things you could do to improve your group. Breathing more life into your business Making people interact with your posts is difficult when everyone’s busy, and when there are people who just want to go straight into shopping. So how do you get them on board to YOUR ? Here are a few tips: Show up to your business as YOU. People follow your page for you, so integrate your personal and business profile as much as you can. Remember that people connect easily to a person and not a product. (See also: .) Look at your group as your coffee shop. That’s your space where you get to sit down and get to know the people in your community. Build relationships by asking these questions: Why do people get into your coffee shop? Why are they staying in your coffee shop? Why are they telling their friends to come to your coffee shop? And why are they coming back? Asking those questions is a good way to find out if you are showing up, or if they know you. Are you sharing your personal pillars and community value? Less product posts, and more interact-with-me posts. Remember, people could see products anywhere. There must be a distinct reason why they are going to your group. What makes your coffee shop different? The answer is simple: YOU. What are you passionate about? Personal pillars? Community value? How can people relate and connect with you? If you’re hosting parties, do a message-me-posts. For example, if you have giveaways, tell them to message you a secret word to get a chance to have those giveaways. Then when you invite them to your products. Say something like, “hey, you must be enjoying the party, thank you for interacting. have you had the chance to hop on to the website yet? If you have questions, let me know.” Avoid frequently posting your links (being spammy.) Instead, put the links in one or few “announcement” posts and direct your members to those posts (i.e., by tagging them in the comments.) Be aware of your group’s availability. If majority of your group have different time zones than yours, find their peak online times and utilize the schedule feature of social media. The Tea about Planning Content I'm excited to share with you this fun coffee chat call with Tammy. A coffee chat call with me is when I help you with one specific problem, or stuff you want to dig deep in. And today we are highlighting how to create content and all about teas! What’s the tea? When you are creating content or challenges for your community, you don’t always have to make it about ‘buying your product.’ That’s actually a counterintuitive way to build your community. Instead, your audience with topics that revolve around the product. There’s a ton of ways to do so! For example, you sell tea. Your content could have something like, “The types of teas” “What you should look for in a tea when buying from your local store” “What tea is best for your health concerns” “Good tea alternatives for you” “The top 10 best tea shops in town” Don’t be afraid to recommend other businesses related to your products too. as the go-to person of people when it comes to tea. Your business growth will surely follow! You could create challenges for your audience too: “The next time you buy from the store, I want you to find the best tea brand for you and post it here.” In that way, you did not only engage your audience, but you also gather information about their preference. Tea party Depending on your pillar, you can help your audiences make better choices by informing them about teas, and by making them check the content of their drinks. And towards the end of that, you could invite them to your ‘tea’ parties. Isn’t it amazing that you did not tell them to come buy your stuff, but you instead gave them reasons 'why.' Selling with Integrity The importance of selling with integrity The relationship piece is vitally important to growing and sustaining a business. And you when you sell with integrity because more people will support you when they know they could trust you. Besides, selling with integrity will make your customers come back to you again and again and again. The lifetime value of your customers will skyrocket and your network will grow! Ok now how do you sell with integrity? Here are a few ways you could practice integrity in managing your business. Hop on to the episode for more tips, real-life examples, and more! You sell the right product to the right customer. Understand that not every customer, is your customer. You may recommend a product that fit the customer’s budget, but do they actually need it? In network marketing, you want to make sure you understand the personal need of your customer. So the instead of forcing your product to a customer you know isn’t a fit, tell them instead, “I’m not the right person for this, but I have a network that I know is the right fit.” Not only did you get the trust of the person, but you also strengthen your referral! You own and know your business well. You have to know who needs your products and how will it help those people. In addition, , not what you sell. This is so you could truly apply your core values to your business. Now the customer’s trust is on you, not the company. And when you switch companies, you don’t lose your customers. *wink* You don’t blow up your budget to a newly-released product from your company that you’re not sure if you yourself are going to use. But if you want to try it out first, you can approach your team member or network who have bought those products. You get out of the scarcity mindset. Don’t worry that you will ran out of customers if you recommend them to another. There’s more than enough customers in the world and it’s much more valuable if you find the right ones for you. You don’t try to chase sales markers. As a business coach, I don’t recommend this. Because first, you will easily lose your integrity when you try to chase customers for a quota. Again, are they the right fit to your product? Second, if you don’t reach that selling milestone, you might get discouraged. Remember that when you don’t hit those markers, it doesn’t mean that you’re not setting yourself up for success! Lastly, you show up differently. Selling with integrity means not being afraid to stand out from other reps of the same product. What do you want your business to look like? What do you want your customers to feel about you? What can you teach your community that you are passionate about? Integrity in your business is one of the keys to success.
