19. Baby Biohackers: Dave Asprey on Optimizing Pregnancy & Parenting
What struck me most about this episode was the fact that choices parents make in pregnancy and early childhood can deeply affect their child for LIFE! So while I knew this period of my child’s life was important, I was surprised at how much I can (and therefore must) influence their lifelong trajectory with a few smart choices at the very start. In this conversation, I sit down with Dave Asprey, the father of biohacking and creator of Bulletproof Coffee, to talk about optimizing pregnancy, early childhood, and the dad’s role in creating an environment where kids can thrive. Dave does not hold back. He shares things like why folinic acid matters more than folic acid, how EMFs and cell phones can impact fertility, why the birth experience leaves a lifelong imprint, and what dads can actually do to protect intimacy after kids. This one is part science, part sacred, and all practical. We dig into nutrition, sleep, postpartum recovery, and even the energetic role dads play in holding space for their partners. Some of it might challenge you. All of it will equip you to show up with more presence, clarity, and purpose. 👇 In this episode, we explore: What choices can parents make now that will affect a child for life? What biohacking principles actually support fertility and pregnancy? How do EMFs and environment shape your baby’s development? What nutrition and supplements matter most for expecting moms? How can dads protect intimacy and connection after birth? Why does the birth experience leave a lasting imprint on a child’s nervous system? About Dave Asprey Dave Asprey is an entrepreneur, author, and one of the fathers of biohacking. You might know him as the creator of Bulletproof Coffee and the Bulletproof Diet, or from his podcast The Human Upgrade. He has written four New York Times bestselling books and has shaped the way millions of people think about performance, longevity, and health. 18. End Your Wife’s Resentment in 3 Steps
Resentful women. Resentful wives. Resentful moms. This has become normal. Men hate it, feeling like they can never do enough and are always being criticized. Women hate it, feeling like they are constantly abandoned and left to do everything on their own. It seems impossible, but there is a solution! I’ve dealt with my wife’s resentment for years, and am happy to say I have reduced it by at least 90%! In this episode, I dig into how resentment shows up in parenting partnerships and why it’s not just a personal issue, it’s a systemic issue. Women often carry more household labor, even when both parents work, and it leads to exhaustion, anger, and distance. I explore how the Fair Play model can help rebalance responsibilities, create more fairness, and dramatically reduce resentment. I also share why date nights, real communication, babysitters and learning to say no are not luxuries but necessities if you want to build a healthy, lasting partnership. 👇 In this episode, we explore: How do you recognize resentment building in your relationship? What is the Fair Play system and how does it help? Why do women still do more household labor than men? How can date nights and attention restore connection? Why are babysitters so important? What role do boundaries play in preventing resentment? In this episode, I sit down with relationship coach Scott Wild to unpack what it takes to co-parent without drifting apart. Scott and his wife Mel, have two kids under two. They’re in the thick of it. And yet they’ve built practices that help them stay emotionally connected, even when they’re exhausted, touched out, and stretched thin. 15. From Bad Dad to Great Dad - Jason Bronstad succeeds in business AND family
Jason Bronstad thought he was doing everything right—executive title, steady paycheck, hustle mode always on. But when his four-year-old son told him his “dad voice” was what hurt him the most, it shattered the illusion. What followed was a total redefinition of fatherhood—from suppressing emotions and prioritizing work, to sitting on the stairs and asking his kids what they really feel. In this brutally honest conversation, Jason opens up about missing nearly an entire month of his wife’s pregnancy, taking zero paternity leave, and using food and alcohol to numb the emotional weight of family disconnection. But he also shares the tools that helped him rebuild—joining a men’s group, discovering somatic breathwork, shifting his parenting style, and learning how to show up emotionally, not just financially. He talks about how his marriage survived the early years of imbalance, how his kids now “read back” family rules, and how financial education and clean nutrition play a role in their household today. From Jiu-Jitsu to Acorn apps to crying in movies, Jason shows us what parenting transformation looks like—messy, real, and deeply rewarding. In this episode, we discuss: What does “Dad Voice” really mean—and how do you unlearn it? How do to parent our children and our inner child at the same time? What happens when we miss the birth or postpartum season? How do we teach kids about money in a healthy, respectful way? What role does somatic breathwork play in fatherhood healing? 12. How to be a Rockstar Pregnant Father: A Step-by-Step Guide to Showing Up During Pregnancy
For me, fatherhood began the day my wife knew she was pregnant. But what could I do? What was my role? I decided I was going to do everything I could to join in the pregnancy, embracing the idea that she wasn’t the only one pregnant, WE were pregnant. Of course men cannot actually be pregnant and we will never understand what women go through. But I set forth to handle the planning, prepping, feeding, listening, and learning—in every way and every moment possible. In this solo episode, I break down what I think it means to be a “pregnant father” and why emotional support, logistics, and snack delivery can be so critical. I dive into what I wish someone had told me before pregnancy: how to not take mood swings personally, how to build your village of dads before the baby arrives, and why feeding your partner is straight up the most important job you'll ever have. I also share my go-to postpartum plan, what birth classes are actually worth it, and why hiring a doula—even if you think you can do it all—is a must. This one’s for the men who want to be all in. In this episode, we answer: What I mean by “pregnant father” since men can not ever fully understand what it means to cary a baby? What’s the best way for dads to emotionally support their pregnant partners? How should dads prepare for postpartum before the baby arrives? What does a “pregnant father” actually do? Should every couple hire a doula, even for hospital births? 11. Can a Man Ever Do Equal Housework to Mom?
I value equality and have always tried to do my part of the housework, especially after we had our baby. But I wasn’t trained to see how much work there is, and how much unseen work my wife did every day. I especially didn’t understand how much thinking she was doing to hold it all together. That invisible labor and mental load began wearing her down and building resentment between us. The Fair Play system of household management changed everything. In this episode, I share how we implemented Fair Play at home—not just to divide chores, but to shift how we communicate, show up, and build trust as co-parents. From setting minimum standards of care to scheduling weekly check-ins, this system gave us more than just fairness. It gave us time back for ourselves, our daughter, and the creative stuff we used to love. If either partner in a marriage doesn’t feel the household work is 100% balanced, then you need Fair Play! In this episode, we discuss: What is the Fair Play system of household management, and why is it a game-changer for modern dads? How do you divide household labor without resentment? Why do women carry the “mental load” and how men can relieve it What is the CPE model and how does it stop nagging fights before they start? How can couples use “business meetings” to stop blowing up over chores? Why minimum standards of care can prevent 90% of conflict at home How to create space for self-care and personal growth through better balance The Fair Play Deck: A Couple's Conversation Deck: The Fair Play Book: Being dadicated isn’t about having all the answers. Joseph Anew is the kind of dad who cold plunges with his kids, does breathwork in a hyperbaric chamber, and ran a Spartan race 36 hours before this interview. But what really stuck with me was how much of his fatherhood was shaped by trauma, surrender, and choosing to do things differently—from barefoot healing in the Caribbean to escaping a hospital during COVID after a traumatic birth. In this episode, we talk about what it means to parent with intention. Joseph shares the wild journey he and his wife went on—from raw vegan pregnancy to organ supplements and detox protocols—and how they used biohacking not as a shortcut, but as a way to align with what our DNA actually needs. We go deep on postpartum recovery, RIE parenting, repairing our own father wounds, and why running is the single best thing he does for his health. In this episode, we discuss: What are the best biohacks for new dads with limited time? How can fathers support postpartum healing for their partner? 9. How Childhood Trauma Made Me the Dad I Am Today
What made me so passionate about supporting dads? My childhood trauma. I grew up undiagnosed autistic in the 90s, and for most of my childhood, nobody—including me—understood what was going on. I was the kid who always stole attention, couldn’t sit still, couldn’t follow instructions, and got stuck in endless punishment cycles at school. My parents tried their best, but they didn’t have the tools or support to navigate what I was going through. That early chaos shaped everything about who I’ve become—as a person, and as a dad. In this episode, I explore how fatherhood was the best (and hardest) tool I ever found to confront and heal my childhood trauma. I share how my early experiences led me into activism, social justice, and eventually conscious entrepreneurship. When my wife Serenity and I couldn’t find baby food that met the nutritional standards we wanted for our daughter, we started Serenity Kids — now the fastest-growing and fastest selling shelf table baby food in the country. But none of that would have been possible if I hadn’t been traumatized, and then been willing to do the work to face it and become a present father, husband, and leader. Learning about Postpartum Depression and Anxiety helped us understand what was happening for her and what to do about it. This episode is deeply personal. May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month, and I want to talk about what can happen for women after they give birth—their brain physically changes, their emotions shift, their anxiety can creep in at 2 a.m. when the house is quiet but she still can’t sleep. 1 in 7 women experience postpartum depression and even more have postpartum anxiety. Most dads have no idea what to look for or how to help, I sure didn’t. So here I felt compelled to share what I’ve learned about how to identify these conditions and what to do about them such as, listening without fixing, setting up real postpartum support plan (yes, with spreadsheets), and how sharing night feedings saved our sanity. From the way motherhood physically rewires a woman’s brain to the quiet moments when you realize she hasn’t had a minute alone in days—this is what we need to talk more about. If you’re a dad, a partner, or just want to show up better for the moms in your life—this one’s for you. In this episode, we discuss: What are the real signs of postpartum depression and anxiety? How does a woman’s brain change after childbirth? How do I respond to my partner’s seemingly irrational fears? What is of household management and how can it saved my relationship? How can dads set up a postpartum support system that actually works? How and when do I seek professional help? 👉 Get 15% off your first Serenity Kids order with code: DADICATED15 https://myserenitykids.com/ Being dadicated isn’t about having all the answers. 4. My Wife Tells Me the Hard Truth About How I Show Up as a Dad
Do you ever get to see a mom deliver a full critique to her partner on live television? Well in honor of Mother’s Day, I sat down with my wife and baby mama, Serenity Carr, to talk about the raw, messy, beautiful truth of our parenting journey and how I showed up. Serenity goes deep on how she went from not wanting kids at all to choosing to become a mom at 41—and the spiritual growth that decision sparked for both of us. We talk about everything: the nausea-filled pregnancy, switching our birth plan from home to hospital, launching a startup the same day our baby was born (yes, really), and the quiet but crushing weight of invisible labor that nearly broke us. Serenity gets real about her postpartum anxiety, and I share what I learned about actually showing up—not just "helping out." We also dive into how the Fair Play method Of household management changed our relationship and what it really takes to create space for both parents to thrive. This one’s for every dad learning how to support a partner through the chaos of new parenthood—and for every mom who's felt unseen in the process. Serenity, I love you. Happy Mother’s Day. In this episode, we discuss: What’s the biggest mistake partners make during postpartum? How can dads fully support a mom after birth? Why does invisible labor lead to resentment in relationships? 2. How Fatherhood Forced Me to Grow the F* Up
I hit a breaking point a few months into fatherhood. I was running on fumes — launching a company, supporting my wife through postpartum recovery, taking care of a newborn, and still trying to pretend I was fine. Not only that, but I wasn’t. I found myself overwhelmed, depressed, and unsure of how to ask for help. That moment — that low — became the start of something deeper. In this episode, I share how fatherhood cracked me open. I talk about parenting as a daily spiritual practice, the shock of realizing how much I still relied on my partner for emotional stability, and how I learned to parent myself while raising my daughter. I get into what postpartum looks like for dads (yes, it’s real), why building a support system is non-negotiable, and why the struggle is actually the point. In this episode, I talk about: What does postpartum depression in fathers really feel like? How do you build emotional support when you're the one holding everything? Why is asking for help a critical skill in early fatherhood? How can fatherhood transform you — if you let it? What does it mean to reparent your inner child as a dad? Being dadicated isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up. It’s about committing to the kind of dad—and man—you want to be, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
