Since Emily’s interview she has written a book! Click the link below to order your copy of Let’s go! A Guide to Increasing Your Confidence: How to go from too shy to order a pizza to unstoppable! Emily Jaenson. The first female in almost 20 years to earn the role of GM in Triple A Baseball. I think I can just end the notes here with that sentence. But I will give you a preview of my incredible conversation with Emily: What goes into being a GM The most challenging part of leading a team and how she tackles it What four questions she asks her direct reports every week (so smart!) What her direct reports do well when they come to her Why she thought she was going to be a trainer (p.s. Representation Matters!) Why she took a step backwards to take a step forward in sports Why she made the decision to only take two weeks off for her maternity leave What happened on her first day back from maternity leave The story she tells that she says makes her sound crazy (I don’t think so!) Upon accepting this role, Jaenson became the first female in Triple-A to hold the GM role in nearly 20 years. Jaenson’s role as GM is to lead day to day business operations for baseball, including the event experience, community engagement, marketing and media, and contribute to the sponsorship team. Emily is on a mission to bring excellence and intention to her job every day so that she can shine the light for other women to pursue roles traditionally held by men. Jaenson leads a podcast, Leadership is Female, where she interviews executives in sport so that she and her guests can lead the next generation of female leadership forward. Jaenson is married to Shawn Jaenson, a Navy veteran, and has two young sons, Magnus and Anders. Connect with Jahaan: Instagram: Email: Website: LinkedIn:
