Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Brian McLaughlin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University. He was also an Army major who commanded a paratrooper unit, served in Afghanistan in special operations, and later returned as the media production advisor to General Petraeus and produced documentary short films with an Afghan crew around Afghanistan. Today, he is a producer and co-president of Emerald Elephant Entertainment where he’s produced four feature films – all acquired for distribution – and have eight in development. Two of his films are also on Amazon Prime Video. Brian is also on the ’s Education, Mentoring, and One Guild committees and recently completed a role for The Walt Disney Company as a program manager for health and safety. In this role, he oversaw the COVID compliance department on various TV series, including American Horror Stories and . Ryan Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts from the in 2005 with a major in political science and completed his with a concentration in finance and macro economics at Columbia University in 2014 all the while working full-time at Morgan Stanley. During his time at Columbia Business School, he focused on the nexus between economics and international relations. During her tenure, Crystal has secured $1.3 billion in federal pandemic assistance for UC’s students and campuses as well as launched a national Double the Pell advocacy campaign. Prior to joining UC, she served in the Office of Senator Dianne Feinstein (CA) as a legislative assistant for a range of issues, including education, housing, child nutrition, arts and humanities, disabilities and social safety net programs. Feinstein’s office, Crystal worked at the U.S. Department of Education in the Office of English Language Acquisition, the Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs and the Office of the Secretary. A Journey of Purpose in Championing College Access: Meet Darren Morgan
Darren Morgan serves as the Executive Director of – a Little Rock-based nonprofit that works to identify, develop, and assist high-achieving students in reaching their goal of enrolling in college. Under his guidance, 120+ students a year are provided with supplemental college counseling, intensive ACT preparation courses, and exposure to colleges through various college visits and fairs. Prior to joining Arkansas Commitment, Darren served as an Assistant Dean of Admissions at his alma mater , where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Religion. In addition to recruiting and analyzing applications, Darren implemented outreach programs targeting underrepresented students and high schools within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. The workshops conducted through this program were designed to provide crucial admissions-related information to underserved public school students. It was this project that led him to his current role. Selim Nurudeen is the Owner and Creative Director at , a graphic design and multimedia firm. He is a two-time Olympian who participated and was a semi-finalist in the 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London) Olympics in the Track and Field 110m hurdles representing his native country, Nigeria. Selim earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in from the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, Selim was an NCAA All-American and four-time Notre Dame Monogram winner for Track and Field. He’s earned a (MSD) degree from Arizona State University and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in from Florida International University.
