Punch Drunk TV 127: Quarantine Madness
Surprise. Punch Drunk TV is back with episode 127 and, obviously, this is not your average show. Since we're all stuck at home, Jack and I decided to try one thing we've never done in our seven-year history doing this show: Record remotely. It worked, albeit my (Aaron) mic was not at great as his. No winners or losers in this episode. It's more like, we're just checking in, ya know? Although we do talk about television a bit. Tiger King, The Office, Sesame Street and more are mentioned in this episode. What have you been watching to keep yourself sane? Thanks for listening and hey, maybe we'll do another one of these soon enough. #ClinkTheDrink

Punch Drunk TV 126: Oh Holy ... Crap!
Well would ya look at that, we're back ... kind of. It's episode 126 of Punch Drunk TV and, well, it's been a while. When Jack proposed this "terrible idea" of doing a one-off episode where we talk about the year's best TV shows, I couldn't help but say yes. I mean, I have a baby and no social life now, so just getting the opportunity to sit in someone else's living room was incentive enough. But, it was quite nice getting the band back together, so to speak. Yes, this is a long episode. Longer than The Irishman, in fact. We talk about all sorts of big tentpole things like Disney+, The Mandalorian and Watchmen. But we also dig into lesser-known TV shows you should be watching like Primal, Sherman's Showcase, David Makes Man and something called Cannon Busters. We have no guarantee we'll be back to do this again. But who knows, there may be another episode of Punch Drunk TV for your earholes by the time Comic-Con is over. Anything's possible. But don't quote me on this. There are no losers in this podcast episode ... aside from Haim Saban. But you'll need to listen to really figure out what I mean.

Punch Drunk TV 125: The Punch Stops Here
Clinkers, we know it's been a while but we are finally back for one more -- and one final -- episode. Yes, it's true, after almost 7 years, we have decided it is now time to bring Punch Drunk TV to an end. This is Aaron typing, in case you didn't know. I started this show, back when it was first called Best Frienemies, and then revamped to the GeekNation show Pass the Effin Remote, for the simple reason that I wanted to hang out with Jack. I knew we had good chemistry, I was always entertained when we hung out, and a light bulb went off that we should do some type of show. Now, here we are. Doing this show helped us make new friends, brought our voices into households across the world, opened up doors to new job opportunities, and solidified my friendship with this dude I first met at a goth club over 20 years ago. This may be the end to Punch Drunk TV, but we are not going anywhere. Jack and I are currently working out an idea for a new show, so please keep in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter. We will announce something in the coming months. In the meantime, please clink the drink with us one final time. Punch Drunk TV 121: From Weird City, With Love
We're back after a week hiatus and, while Jack and I are both exhausted, we've still found time to drink and yell about TV -- for your aural pleasure, of course. It's also the end of this year's Winter Television Critics Association press tour and I may have hung out with the "American Gods" cast ... and I may have told Emily Browning that Jack requested I throw her in a sack. And it may have made things a bit awkward. You'll just have to listen to find out! NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Hulu has ordered four new Marvel adult animated series and a standalone special. "Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.," "Marvel’s Hit-Monkey," "Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show" and "Marvel’s Howard the Duck". The special is "Marvel’s The Offenders." Punch Drunk TV 120: Ted Bundy, Carmen Sandiego and The Black Dahlia ... Oh My!
This week, we're faced with a bunch of horror reboots for the small-screen which could be good or bad news, depending on how you look at it. We also touch on those big TV winners from this past weekend's SAG Awards -- and you'll never guess who won Best Stunt Ensemble. Jack's wife, JoEllen, wants to know ... have you accomplished any of your New Year's Resolutions? Or are you like Aaron and prefer to make goals, instead? NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: A "Resident Evil" TV series, from the same people behind the movies, is in the works at Netflix. Nick Antosca is developing a "Child's Play" TV series with original movie creator Don Mancini at SYFY. And according to Antosca, "Chucky can say 'fuck' on SYFY." CBS All Access has ordered a 10-episode mini-series remake of "The Stand." Season 2 of "Killing Eve" will air on both BBC America and AMC to broaden its reach. Punch Drunk TV 119: The CW ... Where Disney Teens are DTF
Aaron here -- after taking a week off my wife, her mother, my baby and I all got hit with the flu, we have returned for Episode 119 of Punch Drunk TV. There's a lot we go over in this episode, including the multiple Fyre Festival docs that hit streaming last week. Before we kick things off, Jack's wife JoEllen poses a question to us and you Clinkers: How would you describe The CW? Because they definitely have their own very specific brand going on. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: The CW has ordered a musical dramedy spinoff of "Riverdale" titled "Katy Keene." The CW also ordered a "Lost Boys" TV series which will no longer be an anthology series but, as THR says, will be "set in Santa Carla and explores the secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla's eternally beautiful and youthful undead." "Queer Eye" will go to Tokyo for four episodes in its next season. The special four-episode installment, titled "Queer Eye: We're in Japan!," will premiere on Netflix after Season 3 of the series drops later this year. Netflix is rebooting "Unsolved Mysteries" from the show's original producers. According to THR, "the new series will follow a similar format to its predecessor, which first aired on NBC in the late 1980s. Each of the 12 episodes will focus on a single mystery — the broadcast version had multiple cases per episode — and like the original, will enlist viewers' help in solving each case." Showtime has bought the rights to a four-part docuseries titled, "Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men." The first two episodes will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and then the series will air on the network in the spring. Punch Drunk TV 117: SAG Awards So White
It's our final episode of the year. And through Aaron's deliriously tired state and Jack's inebriation, we'd like to apologize for all the loud typing and random banging on the table (seriously, we didn't even realize it was happening until it was too late.) This week, we not only document our winners and losers of the week -- we go through the past year's programming and sift through the best and worst. And we also discuss the SAG Awards TV Nominations ... which, with just a few exceptions, is seriously all about the white people. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: A new rumor puts Ken Jeong as the frontrunner to host The Oscars. Ian Ziering has joined the cast of DC's "Swamp Thing" as the hero, Blue Devil. Japan's anime industry is now worth roughly $19 billion dollars, thanks to streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, and overseas sales. While it seems like Netflix has a bunch of debt to deal with, Amazon's Prime Video channels helped the streaming service grow with revenues gaining $700 million over 2017 averages. Punch Drunk TV 104: Somebody Feed Phil with Emmy Noms at Comic-Con
We have officially begun counting down till San Diego Comic-Con! So, of course, that means Aaron and Jack spend a good portion of the episode talking about the TV goodies (or lack there-of) happening next week. The Emmy nominations were also announced this week, so we not only try to figure out who will win in this insane race but dig through some of the snubs (ie: No Twin Peaks or Last Man on Earth!) For shame! NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage scored his seventh Emmy nomination for supporting actor in a drama series. Dinklage is now the most nominated person ever in the category. Sandra Oh becomes first Asian woman to score lead actress Emmy nom for Killing Eve. FX has renewed Pose for a second season Three new Archie comics series are in the works. The first of which is an updated animated incarnation of Archie and his friends. There have been numerous Archie cartoons in the past, but this one will reportedly lean more towards comedy than the current comic book series or even Riverdale. The second show is also an animated series, with Josie from Josie and the Pussycats in the lead. That series is described as a "horror-tinged" story. The third is a live-action adaptation of Sam Hill, a private detective character whose adventures have only been sporadically published within the last few decades. Sam Hill is far from an obvious choice for an adaptation, but it could be a sign that the company is attempting to expand its reach. The accompanying report states the three shows are being pitched to streaming services and broadcast networks. Season 22 of South Park will premiere on September 26. FX's Y: The Last Man series has been cast. Barry Keoghan has been signed to portray Yorick Brown, an amateur escape artist and the only human male who survived a catastrophic plague that nearly wiped out his gender. Yorick and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, may be the only two male mammals left alive. Imogen Poots will play Hero Brown, Yorick’s sister and an EMT who has her own burdens to bear in the new world. Diane Lane will co-star as Senator Jennifer Brown, Yorick and Hero’s mother. Captain Marvel co-star Lashana Lynch has nabbed the fan favorite role of Agent 355, a Secret Service operative who becomes Yorick’s protector and one of the most memorable characters in the comic. Juliana Canfield will portray Yorick’s girlfriend, Beth, while Marin Ireland will play Nora, “the president’s senior assistant and right hand.” AARON'S LOSER: Bill Maher Live from Oklahoma and SuccessionJACK'S LOSERS: The Outpost and Very CavallariAARON'S FENCERS: Preacher and Mr. MercedesJACK'S FENCERS: Cooking on High, Paid Off with Michael Torpey, Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters, TKO: Total Knockout and The Unbreakable Kimmy SchmidtAARON'S WINNERS: Explained, Claws, Somebody Feed Phil, GLOW and Sharp ObjectsJACK'S WINNERS: Youtube Channels: Lindsay Ellis and Red Letter Media's Best of the Worst, Anne with an E and Somebody Feed Phil Find us on Twitter: , and Join the conversation on . "Roseanne" is canceled but ABC is allegedly working to make a spinoff that would center on Sara Gilbert's character Darlene, instead. Let's discuss this "Lethal Weapon" drama, shall we? Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans sound like just a nightmare. "MST3K" has announced a 30th-anniversary live tour may be coming to a city near you. It will feature reboot host Jonah Ray, Crow, Tom Servo … and Joel Hodgson. Hodgson wrote in a statement, "We’ll be performing two completely different shows as part of the tour, featuring two incredibly strange and cheesy feature films: The Brain, a Canadian sci-fi suburban nightmare, and Deathstalker, a fun sword and sandal epic with some surprisingly muppety monsters! As with last year, these are two completely different shows they’ll be alternating throughout the tour. Beginning on October 9 in Portland, ME, the tour will last six weeks, span 29 cities, and comprise 42 shows. Tickets go on sale to the general public 10 pm ET on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. So, you know… be ready for that." Punch Drunk TV Ep. 99: Never Binge The Handmaid's Tale
It's our 99th episode! To celebrate coming in shy of the big hundred, Jack and Aaron brought their wives along for a very special episode. Here, we discuss our "couple shows" and how our significant others affect the shows we watch. We recorded this one a bit early this week (on Memorial Day, to be specific), which means there's no talk of the "Roseanne" fiasco that went down on Tuesday. Who needs more "Roseanne" talk, anyway. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: New Episodes of "Queer Eye" is hitting Netflix on June 15! The new episodes will feature the show's first female and trans male subjects. "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening is bringing his first new series to TV in 20 years. It's called "Disenchantment" and according to Mashable, "The series will follow the misadventures of "hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci." The report continues, saying, "As they go about their adventures, the trio will encounter "ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools." Idris Elba is set to direct, produce, and star as Quasimodo in a modern retelling of Victor Hugo’s classic, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," for Netflix. Sure. And because Aaron and Kelly are expecting a child, we talk about the impact the Marvel Cinematic Universe is having on new baby names. Punch Drunk TV 98: Who'll Watch The Watchmen?
It's that time again. Episode 98 of Punch Drunk TV is here and we start off with an apology from Aaron who clarifies his stance on the legality and morality of raping and murdering robots in Westworld. Because, for some reason, last week he just couldn't communicate his argument properly. Also, the whiskey ... it be strong. It's Memorial Day Weekend, what are you all doing? Besides listening to this new episode, of course...? NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Damon Lindelof says his "Watchmen" series will not be an adaptation of the comics or a sequel to the movie, instead saying, it'll be "a remix." Via The Hollywood Reporter, Lindelof says, "Those original twelve issues are our Old Testament. When the New Testament came along, it did not erase what came before it. Creation. The Garden of Eden. Abraham and Isaac. The Flood. It all happened. And so it will be with Watchmen. The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica. To be clear. Watchmen is canon.” Netflix has canceled their "Arrested Development" press tour in the UK following backlash against Jeffrey Tambor. Barack and Michelle Obama have inked a multi-year production deal with Netflix where they will be creating new documentaries, docu-series, feature-length movies, and other types of content.
