Episode Four: The Heart Remembers – Exploring Types 3, 2, and 4
Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher Guest Author: Sandra Smith In This Episode: This week, we move into Chapters 3, 4, and 9 of Sandra Smith’s The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self—exploring the Heart Center types: Three, Two, and Four. Alicia guides us through the tender terrain of the Heart Center—where image, identity, and emotional attunement shape our inner stories. You’ll hear how each type seeks love and connection in distinct ways, and how the journey back to the heart begins with reclaiming self-worth. With somatic insight and personal reflection, Alicia brings Sandra’s “compassionate entry points” to life—offering gentle practices and embodied invitations for each type to soften performance, over-functioning, and comparison. You’ll learn: How Type Three’s drive for achievement can soften into authentic presence How Type Two’s desire to be needed can open into the spaciousness of receiving How Type Four’s longing for depth can root into grounded belonging How shame subtly shapes Heart Center strategies—and how the body holds its residue Why equanimity, Holy Freedom, and Holy Source name the deeper spiritual journey of these types Whether you resonate with the Heart Center—or love someone who leads with image or emotion—this episode offers a warm, invitational space to remember: You don’t have to earn your belonging. You already have it. Reflection Question: Where are you still trying to prove your worth—and what might shift if you trusted that love doesn’t have to be earned? Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher Guest Author: Sandra Smith 🎙️ In This Episode: This week, we move into Chapters 6, 7, and 8 of Sandra Smith’s The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self—and begin our exploration of the Body Center types: Nine, Eight, and One. Alicia introduces the core patterns of the Body Center—how instinct, resistance, and groundedness shape our inner worlds—and how each body type carries a unique relationship to anger, fairness, and autonomy. You’ll also hear how Sandra’s idea of compassionate entry points invites a kinder, more relational path to growth—and why connecting with your body’s knowing is essential for real transformation. You’ll learn: How Type Nine’s habit of self-forgetting shows up in the body How Type Eight’s armor can soften into openness without losing strength How Type One’s striving can give way to the serenity of self-acceptance How anger lives differently in each type—and how to meet it with curiosity How Sabbath practices and reflection can create space for real change Whether you resonate with the Body Center yourself—or you’re learning to love someone who does—this episode invites you to slow down, listen inwardly, and discover how the body holds both our defenses and our way home. Episode Two: The Enneagram as a Compassionate Map – Understanding the Shape of the System
Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher Guest Author: Sandra Smith 🎙️ In This Episode: This week, we step into Chapters 2 and 3 of Sandra Smith’s The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self—shifting from presence to pattern, and beginning to explore the shape of the Enneagram itself. Alicia walks us through the deeper purpose of the Enneagram—not as a typing system, but as a compassionate, psychospiritual map. She introduces core elements of each type’s structure (ego ideal, focus of attention, defense mechanism) and reflects on how these patterns live in the body. You’ll also learn how the three centers—body, heart, and head—shape your instinctive responses, and how the triads can illuminate the ways we move, relate, and protect ourselves. You’ll learn: What ego patterns look and feel like in the body How the Enneagram reveals our inner landscape—not just our behavior Why naming your center of intelligence can bring type clarity How the Enneagram is both spiritual and somatic work Whether you’re new to the Enneagram or returning with fresh curiosity, this episode invites you to meet your patterns with compassion—and to remember that you are more than your type. Reflection Question: What does your ego structure feel like in your body—and where might you begin to meet it with more kindness? Episode One: Before the Map – Presence, Pause, and the Starting Point of Inner Work
Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher Guest Author: Sandra Smith 🎙️ In This Episode: We begin our six-week journey through Sandra Smith’s The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self by slowing down and starting exactly where the book does—with presence. In this opening episode, Alicia reflects on what presence means somatically, spiritually, and personally. Through story, teaching, and a guided body-based practice, she explores why presence is the foundation for all meaningful change—and why the Enneagram is more than a personality typing system. You’ll learn: Why presence matters more than insight What the passion of Type Eight (lust) feels like in the body How somatic work creates space between impulse and choice Why the pause is where transformation begins Whether you’re new to the Enneagram or already know your number, this episode invites you to return to the moment—and to yourself. Reflection Question: What does presence feel like in your body—and what helps you return to it? The Great Wait - Introduction Class
11/25/2024
The Great Wait - Introduction Class
Starting Sunday, December 1st for Members! Check out this preview of the upcoming course, "The Great Wait - Celtic Advent Meditation." Course Description: Join us for a contemplative journey through the sacred tradition of Celtic Christianity in "The Great Wait." This course invites participants to explore the four sacred readings from the Christmas Eve Vigil, immersing ourselves in the rich tapestry of scripture and meditation. The ancient Celts gathered around the fire on Christmas Eve to retell the key moments of the Birth of Jesus during different parts of the night. Each passage corresponds to the dance of darkness and light that surrounded the community as they told the ancient story of waiting for Christ anew. Each week, we’ll reflect on one of the readings, engaging in thoughtful discussions that illuminate the themes of divine presence and the universal embrace of God's love made Incarnate in Jesus. Our time together will include a meditative sit, where we allow the wisdom of the scriptures to resonate within our hearts. To deepen your exploration, journal prompts will be provided, encouraging personal reflection and insight into how these themes connect to your own spiritual journey. Together, we’ll contemplate the ways God reaches out to all people and fosters a deeper understanding of hope, anticipation, and community during this sacred season. Experience the stillness and renewal of Advent as we await the extraordinary gift of Christmas. All new Memberships start with a 7-day free trial. Fear, Mist, and Monsters - Job: Chaos, Monsters, & Unification

Fear, Mist, and Monsters - Job: Chaos, Monsters, & Unification
Class 4 In the Book of Job, we hear God ask, “Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope? Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook?" (Job 41:1) The Leviathan is just one of the metaphorical chaos monsters that are mentioned in the book and they show us just how unknowable the whole universe is. In Job, we learn that true union with God is a STAGE of spiritual development and not a one-time STATE. But we are asked to enter into the mystery of God’s wisdom even further as we learn to let go of our preconceived expectations of life. Activity: Contemplation Want the full course including the associated activities? These things can feel like metaphorical monsters lurking in the shadows and mist of a murky reality. It can seem wherever we turn, there are people who can only seem to offer Hallmark-esque platitudes and even toxic positivity in response to the actual help our souls desire. The Biblical Wisdom tradition takes the opposite approach to pain and suffering. Through Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job (three of the classic Wisdom books in the Bible), we can find a pattern that has been time-tested to help us find deep growth, even when we're facing the things we fear most in this life. Fear, Mist, and Monsters - Ecclesiastes: Smoke & Illumination
Class 3 In Ecclesiastes 1:1, we hear, “vanity of vanities! All is vanity.” The word for “Vanity” in Hebrew can also be translated as smoke or mist. In this Book, we hear a wise voice ask just why is it that bad things happen to good people, and how are we to learn to dwell in the mysterious reality that we may never fully know the answer to that question on this side of the veil. This powerful volume in the Biblical tradition teaches us maturity and illumination as we walk the path of wisdom. Fear, Mist, and Monsters - Proverbs: Fear & Purgation
Class 2 In Proverbs 9:10 we hear that, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” In the Biblical wisdom tradition, the most terrifying thing seems to be chaos--a world that has no meaning and where the good suffer but the bad succeed. But Proverbs shows us that the “fear of God” actually leads us to discern God’s order and how we can avoid most chaos by living our values. Pray Like a Cicada
07/11/2024
Pray Like a Cicada
Every year in the summertime, we are greeted by the loud songs of the cicada broods. There's normally about seven different broods at any given time who hatch underground after having lived five years or so underground. For many of the broods, they come up to the surface, they mate, they die. This year, however, we're also being visited by 'Brood 13' and 'Brood 17', and the sound is deafening. This meditation is an understanding of these cicada's prayers as a way of reevaluating our own prayer life. Want to watch the video version of this episode?
