In dieser Folge, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der BUNTE über die Bühne ging, ist Iris Berben zu Gast und damit eine der grössten Schauspielikonen der deutschen Filmgeschichte. Iris Berben machte ihr Debüt im Jahre 1968, wonach 10 Jahre später mit der Serie ZWEI HIMMLISCHE TÖCHTER ihr Durchbruch folgte. Seit da spielte sie in unzähligen Kult-Filmen und Serien wie BUDDENBROOKS (2008), RUBBELDIEKATZ (2011) und DAS UNWORT (2020) mit. Für Ihre schauspielerische Leistung wurde Iris Berben mehrfach ausgezeichnet, so erhielt sie unter anderem mehrfach den Adolf-Grimme-Preis und die Goldene Kamera sowie den Bambi und die Romy. Für ihr Lebenswerk wurde ihr 2019 der Ehrenpreis des Deutschen Filmpreises verliehen. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit in Film und Fernsehen setzt sich Iris Berben immer wieder für gesellschaftliche Zwecke ein, vor allem spricht sie sich gegen Antisemitismus aus. Für dieses Engagement wurde sie ebenfalls bereits mehrfach geehrt, unter anderem mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz Erster Klasse. Nach ihrer Arbeit in DER VORNAME (2018) und DER NACHNAME (2022) erscheint nun der dritte Film der Reihe DER SPITZNAME, welcher am ZFF seine Weltpremiere feiert.

«Leading FeMales in Film» stellt am ZFF inspirierende Frauen in den Mittelpunkt, welche über ihren Werdegang berichten und die unterschiedlichen Herausforderungen in der Filmbranche aufzeigen. 2024 widmete sich das Panel der Rolle von Regisseurinnen. Mit BARBIE von Greta Gerwig kam im Jahr 2023 einer der erfolgreichste Film von einer Frau. Doch dieser Spitzenplatz täuscht. Nur 14 Prozent der 100 erfolgreichsten Filme wurden von Frauen inszeniert. Warum ist das so? Wie erobern Frauen den Regiestuhl in einer Männerdomäne? Und: Sind Filme von Frauen anders? Drei Regisseurinnen berichten auf der Bühne, wie sie gegen alle Widerstände ihre Visionen verwirklicht haben. Diese Episode ist ein Rock & Randale-Special, entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zurich Film Festival ZFF. Sie wurde von der Gastmoderatorin auf Englisch moderiert und live aufgezeichnet. Mit dabei: Maria Brendle: Regisseurin und Drehbuchautorin. Sie ist bekannt für Filme, die sich mit komplexen Frauenthemen auseinandersetzen. 2020 wurde der Kurzfilm «Ala Kachuu – Take and Run» veröffentlicht; dieser wurde bei der Oscarverleihung 2022 als Bester Kurzfilm nominiert. 2022 wurde sie in die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences berufen, die alljährlich die Oscars vergibt. Sie feierte am ZFF mit FRIEDAS FALL ihr Langspielfilm-Debüt; der Film erhielt Standing Ovations. Waad Al-Kateab: syrische Filmemacherin und Aktivistin. Sie war Studentin in Aleppo, als 2011 die Proteste gegen das Regime das Land erfassten. Als Bürgerjournalistin dokumentierte sie die Schrecken des Krieges für einen britischen Nachrichtensender und wurde mit 24 Preisen ausgezeichnet. 2019 drehte sie den Dokumentarfilm «For Sama», um ihre eigene Geschichte zu erzählen. Am ZFF präsentierte sie den Dokumentarfilm «Death Without Mercy», welcher minutiös das verheerende Erdbeben in der Türkei und Syrien anfangs 2023 dokumentiert. Lina Vdovîi: moldawische Journalistin, Drehbuchautorin und Filmemacherin. Ihre Artikel wurden weltweit veröffentlicht, u. a. im Guardian und Al Jazeera. Nach Jahren der Entfremdung erhält sie ein Video von ihrem Vater, einem Wanderarbeiter in Italien, das blaue Flecken an seinen Armen zeigt. Sie stattet ihn mit einer versteckten Kamera aus, und begibt sich auf eine parallele Reise. Mit dem Resultat, der am ZFF gezeigten Doku «Tata», deckt sie Muster häuslicher Gewalt auf, die ihre Familie seit Generationen plagen.

In dieser Folge ist Sebastian Stan zu Gast. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte er durch seine Rollen in der Serie GOSSIP GIRL (2007-2010) und im Film BLACK SWAN (2010). Der grosse Durchbruch gelang ihm jedoch im Jahr 2011 durch seine Rolle als Bucky Barnes alias Winter Soldier im Marvel Cinematic Universe, in dem er seit CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (2011) in zahlreichen Filmen und Serien zu sehen war. In dieser Folge ist Kate Winslet zu Gast – eine wahre Ikone des Kinos, die durch ihre Wandelbarkeit in grossen Studio-Blockbustern, aber auch in keinen Indie-Produktionen glänzt. Mit ihrem neuen Film LEE erzählt sie die Geschichte von einer der bedeutendsten Kriegsfotografinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts und zeigt sie auf ihrer Mission, die verborgenen Wahrheiten des Dritten Reichs aufzudecken. Neben der Rolle als Hauptdarstellerin ist Winslet auch als Co-Produzentin am Film beteiligt. In dieser Folge spricht ZFF Artistic Director Christian Jungen mit Redaktorin Vivien Sasso über seine Highlights unter den 107 Filmen des diesjährigen Programms. Er erzählt, welcher Film ihn am meisten zum Lachen gebracht hat, das grösste Diskussionspotential bietet, die schönsten Bilder auf die Leinwand bringt und den besten Soundtrack beinhaltet. Zudem verrät er dem Publikum, welches Werk ihn zu Tränen gerührt hat und welchen Film er seinem jüngeren Ich empfehlen würde. Auch die vielen Stars, die im Jubiläumsjahr 2024 am ZFF zu Gast sein werden, sind Thema. Jennifer Somm ist Managing Director der SMP und erzählt in diesem Podcast, wie es dazu kam, dass das ZFF ein eigenes Kino eröffnet.
