Thank you for tuning in for another episode of Life’s Best Medicine. Ben Bikman is a researcher, speaker on the topics of human metabolism and nutrition, and advocate of the low carb/high fat approach to metabolic health. He is also an entrepreneur and is the founder/creator of HLTH CODE Complete Meal. He has his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Exercise Physiology from BYU and earned his PhD in Bioenergetics from East Carolina University.

In this conversation, Brian and Ben talk about the importance of seeking first to understand and, second, to be understood, the trap that many scientists fall into of becoming a zealot for a particular way of thinking, learning to acknowledge the limitations of your own knowledge and experiences, and the pragmatism of faith for living a moral life and holding yourself to the standard of your values.

They also discuss philosophy of parenting, seeking to avoid addiction and situations where you can become a slave to something, the relationship between mood and diet, the dichotomous nature of man, the damage that pornography can do to a man’s psyche and, consequently, to a marriage relationship, and the importance of instilling family and/or religious values in your children.

Life’s Best Medicine according to Ben: “Take your duties seriously, but not yourself. Realize that there are things that you as an individual have been uniquely tasked with doing. Do them to the best of your ability, but, in the midst of those efforts, realize that you are a flawed human and so is every other person around. Let that give you grace and compassion, and maybe even a little bit of welcoming laughter.”

Thank you for listening. Have a blessed day and stay healthy!
