Ram thinks deeply and intentionally about his self-development and the personal development of others. He is prepared to open doors and do what to takes to achieve his goals. He relates an experience:
‘Not a formally trained author. Never a writer never formally trained speaker, public speaking wise, wasn't formally trained in a lot of things. I was formally trained in design, which I finished in 2004. Completed design, college and I went on to start at Ogilvy in 2005, which is one of the world's biggest advertising marketing agencies in the world but I started in the mailroom.
'Okay, now I finished a scholarship. I finished my qualification under scholarship as well. And everyone was like, why are you doing that? You're better than that. In my head, I'm like no, this is the best move that I could ever make. I can meet 350 people in the first week in this company, and I was right I punted, right. It was that springboard to launch my entire career, the people capital, the equity in the relationships. I was willing to literally change light bulbs, yes, order printer toner stock, the fridges do people's dry cleaning….'
He shares the Triple A method for self-development – Awarenesss, Acceptance and Action
- Awareness –
- Knowing where you sit and what is contributing to what you are experiencing.
- Exploration revealing bias blind spots.
- Are you ready to an alternative outcome?
- What has got you here will not get you there.
- Start small
- Shift yourself talk conversation – ‘I’ve not been able to do that yet’
- Acceptance –
- Do you agree or disagree with what you have just been made aware of?
- Are you re-affirming?

- Do you know for certain that it is true?
- Fact, feeling or opinion
- Action – Act with the trust and compassion
