It's the third New England OCR Expo that has been put on and it is easily the most involved Mike has been! In 2020 we were just vendors with a table, last year Mike helped with getting athletes to show up and give short talks. Something that we have had on our potential future episode list for a long time is an episode on adaptive athletes in the sport of OCR. Once I started looking, it seemed like was the man to have on the show to talk about it. He is the founder of and has created a community on facebook to suport each other and to reach out to various countries around to world to try and get their events to be more inclusive! We discuss what it means to be a pioneer in helping pave a better future in this sport, the difference between the term adaptive and para-athlete, visable and invisable...
info_outlineFIT Challenge has been putting on obstacle course races since 2013 and we have been to almost every single one of them over the years (we just missed the very first one and the one during the extreme heat wave the summer of 2019)!
Unfortunately that all comes to an end after this past weekend since it was their final event. It is the death of the most important New England local OCR that we have had and it also has some backing of that fact with it winning the best small OCR event just about every year that it has been a category.
All that being said I tried to get as much content as I could, to try and give FIT Challenge the send off that it deserves! You'll hear from those competing in the elite wave, regular open wavers, ultra athletes, and everything in between!
