If you are reading this, there's a good chance you are living in one form of poverty right now. Don't believe me? Give me a moment to explain. Mother Theresa, upon landing in the United States for the first time, exclaimed she had never been to such an impoverished country. She wasn't talking about money - but about emotional and spiritual poverty. One topic almost sure to provoke disagreement, if not offense, is how to discipline children. Many people I deeply respect are hesitant to speak publicly about this divisive issue. With that caution in mind, I recorded this episode. Join me in the for a discussion about children's discipline. I try to start with some basics that most people should agree with and slowly build into areas that are more contentious. Hopefully, this episode will provide a starting point for a healthy and constructive conversation with your spouse. Remember to always hold such a conversation with charity! ...

Intellectually we know that science and the Catholic faith have to line up - but the world screams that they don't. Well, what if the world is wrong? What if science itself can prove that the Bible and the Christian faith is true? Join me in the as my guest Doug Ell and I talk about how we understand our faith in light of our scientific wisdom. This episode is a little bit different. Instead of purely being an interview, it's more like two scientists sitting around a campfire discussing theology. We've all watched our children attend to a story. They love hearing stories - even (or perhaps especially) stories they already know. Stories penetrate our mental defenses. They help define who we are. We all have stories; sharing our them is important. Join me in the as my guest Joseph Bolton and I talk about his story that is captured in his new book. This is a powerful story that connects us to the saints that preceded us. We also discuss the story of how God called him to write this book. We even talk a little bit about music and the youth. Technology is amazing; it lets us do everything from our jobs to ordering food without ever leaving our home. That's great, right? Well, actually, it turns out that some new data shows that loneliness and depression are at record levels, particularly among the younger generations, and most particularly in men. Our parishes were supposed to be a place where we gather to connect, support, and reach each other. Instead, too many people pull a Judas - receive the sacrament and run away. Join me in the as my guest Terry Poplava discuss this survey data and some practical ideas about what...

There are a lot of fitness coaches and instructors out there. The diverse array of food and exercise plans can be overwhelming! Worse, a lot of them aren't transparent about their fees and agendas. There's a lot of theories about what food is healthy to eat right now. What's even worse, it seems very likely that it may legitimately be very different for different people. How are we supposed to navigate this mess and be healthy? Join me in the as my guest Andy Felton explains his theological approach to food and diet. He creates an argument for food from a Biblical perspective. While the Biblical teachings about food and diet are nowhere near as clear as other moral areas, what is present is powerful. You can find Andy's book Nourished By Design . Also, I'm announcing my course...

While there's always been a wide diversity of ideas, our culture today seems particularly emotionally divided. It's hard to have a calm and constructive conversation with someone who thinks differently than you. What if these differences of though, perspective, and value were actually meant to help bring us together as people. What if they were an essential part of God's plan to find balance in a sinful world? Join me in the as I explain how political divide, at its core, is present in the Bible. It's a key part of God's salvation plan for mankind. We need to understand what's...

Have you ever noticed that women seem to be more eager to talk than men? Indeed, modern science suggests women on average use at least twice as many words in a day as men. It's one thing to know that - but as a husband, what do I do about it? Join me in this episode as I present a simple and fun concept about how marriage communication works: the Meadow Report. If you lean into and embrace giving your wife what she needs to feel loved and supported, she's way more likely to support you as well. Furthermore, it's what Christ calls us husband to do.

Parenting is hard. It's exhausting. Though people say the years go by quickly, the days can seem to last forever... Worse yet, we know that we have a heavy responsibility to get it right! We talk about leadership, service, and humility. We talk about the amazing responsibility that God has given us as fathers, and about how to trust in Him to get the job done. info_outlineIf you're at all like me, it's easy to get mad when your wife accuses you (unjustly!) of something. It's easy to quickly see why it isn't true, fair, or even appropriate for her to have said that horrible thing! It's even easier to respond by pointing out just how horrible of a thing it was to say!
But this isn't the Christian way.
Husbands, you are called to love your wives. unconditionally. This means you have to love her even when she is being unfair or unjust. (Hint: you are also commonly unfair and unjust!)
But how do we do that?
Join me in this episode as I talk about one major way to love your wife - love her through her accusations. This is hard. This is also essential. Putting those two together means you might need some help. I offer you two particular tools in this episode that will transform your marriage conversations if used properly.
Your wife needs your unconditional love, not your corrections.
