She and her birth daughter, Jessica, were reunited on Father's Day in 2008. Dr. Patrice Martin: Dr. Martin is a same race adoptee. In her profession she works in grants management in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. She has always known she was adopted and grew up with a loving family. Yet as life would have it, some twists and turns were embedded in her story as she learned that quite possibly she would never be able to find her biological family having been abandoned in a trash bin at birth. She now lives her full story with both sides of her family and is inspired to help others. She is does not shy away from the issues that adoption raises in adoptees' lives and works to help children and adults see their fullest potential despite challenges a non-ideal situation presents.
