Rambling Through Everyday Life Podcast
“The pantsuit is tea”… and apparently, that’s a compliment! Angela’s return to her alma mater comes with a vocabulary lesson, and we’re still explaining what it means to “Pull an Angela.” Add Taco Bell, Fran’s NYC week, and Atlanta Braves baseball, and we’ve got plenty to ramble about. The conversation takes a deeper turn with an Instagram account sharing FAKE Bible verses and why we need to check what we read against Scripture. We also discuss Phillip Anthony Mitchell’s ACCESS event, his Street Preachers podcast, and his upcoming book. “Contending is not just being...

Okay, but HOW did we get from Noah’s Ark to a heart check?! 😂 This week we’re rambling through the headlines and stories we can’t stop talking about, from possible Noah’s Ark discoveries and McDonald’s drama to Amazon Pharmacy, Slim Goodbody, and the realization that our very friendly “guard dogs” would probably welcome an intruder right into the house. Obviously, we have thoughts. But somewhere along the way, the conversation takes a turn toward Psalm 139 and the prayer, “Search me, God, and know my heart.” We’re talking about humility, the things we may not see in...

Our beloved friend Susannah B. Lewis (aka Whoa Susannah) is back, and this conversation takes us straight into both the deep AND shallow end, which of course is our favorite place to be. We start with the important things: what Susannah’s theme song would be (hello, Michael Jackson), the easiest plants to keep alive, and her ever-growing love of gardening. But that conversation leads us somewhere much deeper. Susannah shares what she’s been noticing in the wildflower fields and the vision God is growing in her heart for ministry there. We talk about Jesus’ words in Luke 12 to “consider...

We’re taking a little trip back to the ’90s reminiscing about the glory days we may remember just a little more fondly than they actually happened. We’re also talking all things Dolly Parton, farm animals, and the Calamity Club. You’ll just have to listen. 😂 But then the conversation takes a more personal turn as we share an update on Atlas and thankfully some very good news. We talk about how Psalm 139 became an anchor in the middle of uncertainty and what it means to trust the God who knows us completely, goes before us, and places His hand of blessing upon our heads. ...

What does it actually mean to suffer well? In this episode, we’re joined by a special guest, Dr. Beth Madison, for an honest conversation about suffering and the kind of faith that is formed when God doesn’t immediately change our circumstances. We often think suffering well means being strong, holding it together, or somehow finding the right attitude in the middle of something incredibly hard. But maybe suffering well has much less to do with our strength and much more to do with learning to depend on His. Beth shares how suffering hasn’t simply tested her faith but has transformed it....

We’re catching up on all the things this week including Fran’s recovery, our time speaking at Jesus & Jammies, a few words we absolutely cannot stand, and a new Bible study Angela is loving. Then we turn to Psalm 139 and a question that hits a little closer to home: If God already knows everything about us, why are we still tempted to hide? We’re talking about the important difference between conviction and condemnation, how to recognize the voice of shame, and why the Holy Spirit’s conviction is always an invitation to repentance, freedom, and a closer relationship with God....

What if the very thing you’re ready to move past is the place where God is doing His deepest work? This week, we’re talking about what it looks like to sit in the deep things with the Lord, to slow down long enough to let Him search our hearts, reveal what’s underneath the surface, and lead us instead of rushing ahead to the next thing. Psalm 139 reminds us that God already knows us completely, so why do we still pray, “Search me, God, and know my heart”? Maybe the searching isn’t for Him to discover something about us. Maybe it’s for us to become willing to see what He already...

What if the seasons that feel quiet, lonely, or even unproductive are actually invitations to something deeper? This conversation is about finding abundance in the ordinary moments when no one is watching and it’s just us and the Lord. We’re asking some honest questions: Where is my attention going? What has my affection? Why do I keep doing the things I don’t want to do? And how am I stewarding the time God has given me? Maybe the hidden season isn’t something to rush through. Maybe there is purpose in the unseen, blessing in faithfulness, and something good on the other side of...

What if the thing you’re trying to hide is the very thing God wants to heal? This week on Rambling Through Everyday Life, we go from monkeys in Costa Rica and an RV adventure to engagement news, books we’re loving, and a much deeper conversation about faith, vulnerability, confession, and being truly seen by God. Fran opens up about a hard season and what the Lord is teaching her about the condition of our hearts. We talk about the desire to be seen and known, the motives behind what we do, and how easily we can overlook sinful patterns because they don’t seem like a big...

info_outlineOur beloved friend Susannah B.
We talk about Jesus’ words in Luke 12 to “consider the wildflowers,” what it actually means to consider something, and why so many of us may need to retrain our brains to slow down long enough to notice what God is doing around us.
And because gardening will preach, we talk about seasons, pruning, and the reminder that sometimes cutting something back isn’t cruel but necessary for future growth.
Susannah also takes us behind the scenes of her writing life, including what she’s learning through the self-publishing process and her newest book, Our Happy Valley Home, with its Christian Southern Gothic flavor.
We wrap up with four biblical principles Dr. Dub believes every leader should live by, along with plenty of rabbit trails, laughter, and friendship along the way.
Whether you’re in a season of planting, pruning, waiting, or simply trying to notice what God is doing right in front of you, this conversation offers a gentle invitation to slow down, pay attention, and trust the work He is doing in your life.
Each episode is recorded on the campus of Union University! If you have a student looking at colleges, schedule a visit and let us know you are coming.
