YO AHORA
In this episode, I will show you who and where I was when PUA indoctrination began taking real shape in my mind. Okay, so I'm still setting the stage of world building here, but this time it's mostly focused on myself in relation to the PUA industry. Here's some things you can expect from the episde: Sobriety & practicing "cold approach" How Julien Blanc kindly "negged" me into changing my life Feeling depression at 24 lead me to my first sip of alcohol How I started listening to Real Social Dynamics content at age 16-17 My own romantic ideals in my relationships The programs/services...

In this episode, I give an intro to "pickup artistry" from the POV of a rogue anthropologist & observer of the niche. This stuff was a HUGE special interest for me at a really critical time of my life, and so much of my brain was evolving in conjunction with my fascination for PUA. My own relationship to the industry is definitely one of an "original experience" and so I'm keen to share this multiple-part story time! I've been wanting to have some form of a "tell-all" on my experience learning "attraction" from the PUAs (pick up artists) and then later how I started working with...

In this episode, I want to let it out. Look, it's a teensy bit chaotic and explosive at times. I can explain why I do this: 1. I'm a vocal show off lol. I like a chance to engage with the variance... 2. It's also to illustrate how seamless I could weave through those different volumes and paces 3. Nothing else to say, I'm just recognizing that bullet point lists look better in 3's This episode is my processing buffer along the yellow brick road of YO AHORA. In fact, it's the episode when I finally declare the actual name of the podcast, the intention for the episodes, and a rough...

In this episode, I want hiring managers to cancel me. This episode explores every mostly relevant plot point from my entire 20s: The decision to drop out of college by 20 years old The process of working dirty, gritty jobs (and why) The magic of getting my "dream job" (at the time) The evolution into an even "better job" Getting hit by a car at the age of 26 during the peak of my "good life" Finding many of my own "values" shifting in the aftermath of that accident Losing the attachments to my "status" Overcoming the mental trap of being a "hustler" Taking a hiatus to focus on mental and...

In this episode, I want to win. In this episode, I want to win. I actually recorded this one the very next day from the 1st one. I had so much fun recording that first long-format on-the-fly episode, that I just had to once again jump back in the very next day. This episode was also recorded before I ever decided to name my entire podcast project “YO AHORA”. It’s a nod to my bffl Martin from Argentina (“SHO AHORA”) and only after I recorded episodes #1-3 did I ask Martin if i could name my project after this exact term he introduced to me back in 2023. To this he said so warmly and...

In this episode, I want “good” to win. The first ever, super spontaneous recording for the podcast. For context, I’d already been itching to produce some long-form content, and one day back in December ’25, I had an idea to record something for TikTok…… but due to the nature of the NSFW subject matter, it really didn’t feel appropriate for TikTok’s algorithm. So I whipped out my voice memo app on my iPhone 12, and started to freestyle yap for over an hour and 40 mins all about my itty bitty careful thoughts on so many different things. Content...

This stuff was a HUGE special interest for me at a really critical time of my life, and so much of my brain was evolving in conjunction with my fascination for PUA. I've been wanting to have some form of a "tell-all" on my experience learning "attraction" from the PUAs (pick up artists) and then later how I started working with them. The chance to work with them totally shaped my existence, since it gave me access to marketing+operations experience. So it changed the entire plot of what became available to me.
It's been years since I've been associated with that entity and I'm beyond it now. However, my own brand title "Social Dynamics Nerd" is piggybacking off of company names from the PUA industry. This is intentional on my end... I am a romantic, and I think it is actually adorably precious of me to STEAL the legacy associated to some of my initial role models. Especially because my own role models had stolen from their mentors, while also building a business around my age...
This is the gift that keeps on giving.
The difference is: I'm looking to build an entity around "social skills", not just "cold approach" or "pickup". This lore is very SPENCER, and these stories have to be told so that I can lean into all future YO AHORA conversations as absolutely "SPENCER" as can be. You know?!
Before we get into my own personal involvement, this episode is really focused on world-building PUA for those who have no clue what it is or how big it was. So this is all a "101" type of intro on the whole matter...
Here's what this episode covers:
- Opening up the conversation around the industry
- How I stumbled upon the material (unintentionally)
- How the material hooked my curiosity and why
- How PUA started getting big (from the 90s into the early 2000s)
- Who were the significant thought-leaders in these years
And then I wrap up the episode covering this:
- Things from PUA that I didn't like but found to be valuable
- Things that I DEFINITELY do not like (non negotiable no's)
- Things I liked from PUA that I STILL like (attraction principles)
Then in "PUA2", the following episode, we will start to move the story along and how I actually got very closely involved in my late teens/early 20s, and why/how this happened...
In "PUA3" we go further, and "PUA4" even further into lore...
There WILL be a "PUA5". It has not been recorded and it won't come any time too soon.
For the sake of my own reputation and safety, I'm just gonna sit on that final instalment and test the temperature as these initial episodes release. For any uninvolved listener, this is all hullabaloo, but for me... I just wanna be smart. Some people from the industry are shady.
And the "PUA5" instalment will be the most critical, and so I wanna be the most mindful when the time comes.
Thank you for listening!
