Ep 8 is about how Brian Paul turned his pain into a passion that serves others. His passion became his purpose & leads others in that same vision.
According to The Center of Suicide Prevention ...
"For decades researchers asserted that six people are greatly affected by each suicide death. This statistic can be traced back to the pioneering suicidologist Edwin Shneidman. In the early 1970s, he based this figure on the average size of an immediate family. The figure was never scientifically tested but has persisted as the go-to number nonetheless.
This number hasn’t resonated with some researchers, however, who felt it underestimated the true burden of suicide grief, and now, current research confirms their reticence. 2019 studies indicate that far more than six people are affected by a single suicide. Julie Cerel, from the University of Kentucky and her team of researchers have found that up to 135 people are affected to some degree by every person lost to suicide. That number includes all people who have known the deceased.
Cerel developed a continuum of suicide survivorship still shows a range of people affected to be 15 to 30, which still far exceeds the old estimate of six people."
Do we really need to put a number to it? Even 1 is too much... so how DO we prevent the initial suicide in the first place?
We remove the stigma
We provide resources
We TAKE A STAND FOR EACH OTHER
We let others know their WORTH to us... regularly
But most importantly
WE TALK ABOUT IT!

Do we not DESERVE the same comforting from ourselves as we'd give a stranger?
Why are we not holding ourselves to the same loving levels?
Because we know all of our secrets...
We know we are not innocent...
We know all the words of #Selfdoubt that have been planted in our garden throughout the years...
Heck we COLLECTED them over time & carry them with us like they are so valuable that we can't put them down.
When we are reminded of them by others (#triggered) we pull out those toys of self-doubt & show them to others, reopening the wound.

Let me ask you... what IS self-love to YOU?
We want to know 👇
I feel like that word is a buzz word thrown around as a new #. The more it's thrown around & labeled the less substance the word has. I feel like we have a tendency to water down our language by creating a bandwagon & labeling-then throwing all the other words in the English language in the bandwagon weighing it down so it gets less traction on its journey.

The relationship we have with ourselves is maybe the most important, but also the most neglected relationship we will ever have.
If we don't love ourselves we can't properly love another to the fullest, because we don't understand the #boundaries needed to maintain healthy relationships. We won't understand how to communicate OUR NEEDS to another... so we just become a #giver, until we are so depleted that we want to throw in the towel... which is completely unfair to the other end of that relationship, since we TAUGHT & TRAINED that side HOW WE SHOULD BE TREATED. Communication is everything.
So how DO you make this foundation of self-love to understand, appreciate, & celebrate our own worth?
Self-love means that you have an appreciation, affinity, positive, & most importantly a COMMITMENT to loving & acknowledging what you need in your own lives.

It's not going to look the same for everyone.
It’s closely related to self-esteem & self-compassion. When you have a strong sense of self-love, you understand your own value & treat yourself in a loving way.
Self-love also is forever changing & adjusting to your specific needs in the timeline of the life you live. Just as your #goals change, so does HOW you self-care.
Feelings of #unworthy goes all the way back to the womb. Studies have show that through neurological behaviors during pregnancy, a child can FEEL the stress of the mother, the damage she is doing to herself, from feeling less beautiful to massive #traumas.

No one gets to decide who & how I am or react or how I feel about myself. #Boundaries...

This is true self-love. This isn't taking a bath or a facial, it's doing the hard work & digging deep to uproot the struggle to view myself as #worthy of true #love & #acceptance.
We CAN break the #cycle of destruction.
We CAN stop teaching our children how to respect & love themselves.
We CAN heal.

Let's let our inner child, the one who heard & saw all the things...
Let's put down our collection.
Let's grab a match & set it ablaze.
The collector...that child...
is YOU...
It's time to have compassion for ourselves 🩷
