The Quiet Revelation of True Nature show art The Quiet Revelation of True Nature

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

Awakening is often imagined as something dramatic—a powerful energetic shift, an extraordinary state, a moment in which everything suddenly changes. But the revelation of our true nature is often far quieter than this. In this bonus episode, Amoda Maa explores how liberation is revealed not through effort, discipline, or the attempt to transcend experience, but through a simple willingness to meet what is here without resistance. As the subtle effort to maintain and protect the separate self begins to relax, the contraction at the centre of experience is seen to be less solid than it...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this conversation, Amoda Maa and Kavi explore surrender not as defeat, passivity or giving away our authority, but as a profound softening of the grasping mind. Beginning with Amoda’s teaching on “the soft stop,” they look at the habitual movement to control, resist, interpret and resolve our experience — and what becomes possible when that movement begins to loosen. The conversation moves deeply into uncertainty, grief, loss, love and impermanence, revealing surrender not as a spiritual technique or destination, but as a way of meeting life itself. When the argument with this...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this bonus episode Amoda explores what it means to live from the quietness of being without withdrawing from the movement of life. Thoughts, emotions, fears, reactions and disappointments continue to arise, but they no longer have to define who we are or become the authority through which we interpret every experience. Through fear, sadness, contraction and triggers, Amoda points to the possibility of a shift in allegiance: away from the personal story and toward the silent openness in which all experience appears. When we stop asking what every feeling means about “me,” even difficult...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this bonus episode, Amoda explores what happens when awakening is no longer held as a transcendent state, spiritual attainment, or identity, but begins to permeate the ordinary movements of human life. She speaks about the subtle ways the self can appropriate realization, turning even openness, stillness, or spiritual experience into something to possess, preserve, or return to. When that movement of ownership relaxes, the light of being begins to express itself more naturally through relationship, action, listening, and the nervous system itself. This living realization reveals itself...

Clear Seeing: The End of Separation and the Soft Inner Gaze show art Clear Seeing: The End of Separation and the Soft Inner Gaze

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this bonus episode, recorded during Amoda’s recent retreat in Europe, she speaks about clear seeing as the essence of awakening. Ordinarily, we do not see life directly. Experience is filtered through accumulated memories, beliefs, fears, preferences, judgments, and the continual reference point of “me.” Everything becomes my thought, my feeling, my problem, myexperience—and in this claiming, the sense of a separate self is continually reinforced. Clear seeing belongs to a different order. Awareness does not compare, categorize, judge, or interfere. It simply allows what arises to...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this beautiful and intimate conversation, Amoda Maa explores the quietness at the center of being and the deeper realization that true peace is not the absence of movement, emotion, or difficulty. Beginning with her recent writing on the quiet radiance of presence, Amoda speaks about the ways resistance, craving, avoidance, and the inner argument with life sustain the sense of a separate self. Quietness is not something we create or force. It is revealed when this inner movement begins to soften. The conversation then opens into a more personal exploration of Amoda’s own awakening. She...

Beyond the Practice of Presence show art Beyond the Practice of Presence

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

Presence is often treated as something we must cultivate through effort or practice. In this discourse, Amoda Maa points to a deeper recognition: presence is not something we achieve, but the ever-present openness in which all experience already appears. As identification with the story of "me" begins to soften, we discover that awareness remains unchanged by thoughts, emotions, or circumstances. This recognition is available not only in meditation, but in the ordinary moments of everyday life, revealing a freedom that is found within experience rather than apart from it. This discourse was...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this opening discourse from Amoda Maa’s first seven-day retreat in Europe, Amoda invites us to discover the clear light of being—not as a mystical experience or future achievement, but as the ever-present awareness already here beneath thought, emotion, sensation, and circumstance. Awakening is revealed as a quiet but profound shift: from being defined by the story of “me” to resting in that which is unbound by any story or experience. As the effort to become, improve, reject, or grasp begins to soften, a deeper freedom becomes available—not freedom from life, but freedom within...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this bonus podcast, Amoda points to the quiet truth of being that remains when the layers of identity begin to loosen. As we stop deriving our sense of self from biography, memory, body, thought, and feeling, a deeper knowing comes into the foreground: the simple presence of I AM. Amoda explores how this recognition often begins as witness consciousness—the sense of being aware of experience rather than entangled in it. But the deeper invitation is to look more closely and ask whether this witness can actually be found. Is there truly someone standing apart from life, watching it all...

Conversations with Amoda Maa - Exploring Awareness Through Dialogue and Living Inquiry

In this conversation, Amoda Maa explores what it means to live beyond the psychological need for certainty. While practical planning has its place, much of our inner suffering comes from the mind's constant attempt to predict, control, and negotiate with life. Together, Kavi and Amoda explore the difference between practical knowing and the deeper freedom of not knowing. They discuss how the separate self is built upon imagined futures, remembered pasts, and the need to secure an outcome, while true presence invites us into a direct intimacy with life as it unfolds. The conversation touches on...

More Episodes

In this bonus episode, Amoda explores what happens when awakening is no longer held as a transcendent state, spiritual attainment, or identity, but begins to permeate the ordinary movements of human life.

She speaks about the subtle ways the self can appropriate realization, turning even openness, stillness, or spiritual experience into something to possess, preserve, or return to. When that movement of ownership relaxes, the light of being begins to express itself more naturally through relationship, action, listening, and the nervous system itself.

This living realization reveals itself in quieter and often very human ways: less reactivity, less defensiveness, less need for validation, and less identification with fixed roles or positions. In its place comes a greater capacity to listen, to respond without agenda, and to allow life to move with more openness and freedom.

Awakening, then, is not about becoming a perfected spiritual self. It is about allowing realization to become fully lived.

This discourse was given at a 7-day retreat held at San Damiano Retreat Center in California, May 2026.
