info_outlineIn this episode of Blood Sweat & Cheer, on June 18th, 2019 Stephanie Britt talks very frankly about the recipe for giving your athlete the most opportunities in cheerleading and in life. Which she feels is one of the most important roles as a mom. Here are some main tips she has learnt and wants to share with all of you!
- Being a selfless parent. Sacrificing money and time so that your cheerleader can lead an extraordinary life.
- Not letting pride deny your cheerleader a better future. Practice the 24-hour rule! Always pause and stay silent through struggles. Choose your battles and handle conflict in such a way that doesn’t shut the door on future opportunities or burn bridges.
- Commitment and not letting your athlete quit. Possibly allow your child to do more than one sport or activity to prevent burnout and never letting them quit cheerleading in the bad times!
- Be reasonable about expectations based on their body types and natural gifts. Help guide their passion so that can be successful.
- Get extra work on your weaknesses to master your craft.
Stephanie Britt explains that kids often blame their parents for “letting them quit” or “denying them a better future” so she recommends letting your cheerleader set their goals, then doing everything to help them reach said goals so they have the OPTION & OPPORTUNITY to be successful. Especially in the world of cheerleading!
