The Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace, founded two colleges, Ohio Dominican University and Albertus Magnus College, and schools all over America.

On a frosty February 28, 1822, Father Samuel Thomas Wilson, a priest in the frontier parish of St. Rose Church, rose to the pulpit to preach what was undoubtedly one of the most fruitful sermons of his life. With his friend fr. Fenwick, fr, Wilson dreamed of educating the youth of the new Kentucky settlement, and he was there to find the women to help bring that dream to pass.
