Janylène talks to us about entrepreneurs exiting and search for identities.
Janylène Turcotte spent 25 years as a senior HR executive, the last stretch at Deloitte. She served as an integrator on several deals — inside the due diligence, close to the moment a business changes hands — guiding people and organizations through transition and transformation.
Then her own role ended — not on her terms. She walked out of that meeting feeling like she'd left a coat at the door. Over the emptying weeks that followed, she realized how much of who she thought she was had been the coat. The title. The brand. The identity she'd worn without noticing. She knows first-hand the particular silence of a calendar that suddenly clears.
That's the terrain she now walks with founders who are exiting their business.
Because when an entrepreneur sells the company they built, they're surrounded by people — finance, tax, lawyers, advisors — and every one of them has a stake in the outcome. Nobody in that room is there simply for them. Nobody's only job is to help them digest what it means to hand over the thing that's carried their identity for years — or to answer the question that lands the morning after the deal closes: who am I now, and what was all of this for?
Today Janylène is the founder of Hypnocoach, a clinical hypnotherapist and ICF-certified coach (ACC) with more than 1,500 sessions behind her. Trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy under Marisa Peer, she works underneath the strategy — with the beliefs and the meaning no spreadsheet in the process ever touches. Her method, Peel Back, Rewire, Rise, is built for exactly this: the identity shift a successful exit sets off, and the reinvention that has to follow it.
She's practical, not mystical. Warm, and direct. She earned a merit scholarship at HEC on her academic results and cut her teeth selling encyclopedias door to door — rigour and hustle in equal measure, and little patience for fluffy personal-development promises.
For the founder walking toward the exit, she's the one person in the process with no skin in the game, whose only job is to be there for them.
