A cautionary tale about using AI as your therapist with Amanda Johnson & Chelsea Jewel show art A cautionary tale about using AI as your therapist with Amanda Johnson & Chelsea Jewel

Clarity on Fire

A curious pattern emerged within the last year: People — usually friends or coaching clients — keep coming to us, almost sheepishly, and “confessing” that they sometimes use AI (particularly ChatGPT) for emotional support. The thing is … we’ve used it for emotional support, too! AI has a lot of qualities that make it less messy than your average human. It’s a great listener, it’s endlessly patient, and it has access to an infinite amount of knowledge and potential solutions. Plus, using it is (sadly) a LOT cheaper than what you’d pay your average therapist or coach. But...

Dear Krachel: How do I believe in a better future when I keep getting rejected and disappointed? show art Dear Krachel: How do I believe in a better future when I keep getting rejected and disappointed?

Clarity on Fire

Welcome to another episode of Dear Krachel (our first since June of 2024!), our advice segment where we answer listener questions about life, career, relationships, existential angst, and anything that helps you become a more whole, fulfilled version of yourself.   This month we answered questions from two listeners who are both questioning what went “wrong” in their lives, how to recover from deep disappointment, and how the future can be better: Bottledottle, a medical school student who doesn’t know if she wants to be a doctor anymore, and who is deeply afraid that she wasted...

What if productivity could feel feminine? With Jamie Knight show art What if productivity could feel feminine? With Jamie Knight

Clarity on Fire

“If I didn’t love you, I would hate you.”   That’s a direct quote that escaped my mouth while recording this episode with my former client, Jamie Knight. 😆   Jamie inspires such intensity because she’s recovering from being that girl. You know, the cheer captain and valedictorian of her high school class. Got a bachelor’s and master’s degree at the same time, and had a 4.0 in both. Had a top-tier job offer before she even started her last semester of college. Ran half marathons, for fun! Excelled in her career and made absurdly good money by anyone’s...

“Failing at life” & retreating to Italy with Susanne Reichart show art “Failing at life” & retreating to Italy with Susanne Reichart

Clarity on Fire

In the last few years my client Susanne went from having a very normal, run-of-the-mill career to relocating to Italy, renovating a beautiful property, and opening a retreat space (she calls it a “thinker’s residence”) for creative people who long for peace and quiet to work on their most important projects.   Getting to help Susanne take this dream from vision to reality has been a highlight of my last few years as a coach, and I’m so excited to finally get to share her story with all of you!   Listen in to this month’s brand-new interview with a normal person, where...

Exploring the nervous system with Amanda Johnson show art Exploring the nervous system with Amanda Johnson

Clarity on Fire

It’s the fifth Friday of the month, which means this should be a “bonus book club” episode––it isn’t, but it’s also not NOT a book club episode, either. 🙃😂   During our last book club conversation about Attached with Amanda Johnson – our friend, fellow coach, and all-around expert on attachment theory – we said that we wanted to have Amanda back on the podcast to have an episode devoted completely to the nervous system.   So, that’s what we did!   Amanda is back on the podcast this month to help us explore all facets of the nervous system, using one...

More Episodes

When I first met Mary, she was at a near-breaking point.

She’d pivoted from one industry to the next, over and over again, and was no closer to career satisfaction.

She was incredibly burned out from a job that expected her to handle more than one person’s workload in a day (and where she never, EVER took a lunch break).

And she was scared of everything, even reasonable things––taking her daily lunch, asking for a work-from-home day (at a company where other people worked remotely), setting boundaries around her time.

In this month’s brand-new interview with a normal person, Mary and I get into …

  • Why she ended up so terrified of literally everything
  • How things started to make sense once I told her she was suffering from “vulnerability intolerance”
  • The small shifts she made that helped her go from petrified 24/7 to living a life of ease, peace, and creativity
  • Our shared thoughts about how fear shows up in dating, in particular, and how we both overcome that
  • And SO much more!

Come leave a comment after you’ve listened to share how Mary’s journey resonated with you!

APPLY TO WORK WITH US 1:1!

If Mary’s journey resonated with you – If you find yourself fearful, stuck, overwhelmed and are SO ready for things to change – then we’ve got good news:

We’re CURRENTLY accepting applications for new coaching clients!

We officially open doors for new clients just a few times per year, so if now feels like the right time, let’s talk.

  • We have space for maybe 10 clients (and some of those spots are already gone!), so act quickly if you think this could be for you.

  • This is for people interested in getting started ASAP (in January/February).

  • We have both smaller and larger options for 1:1 coaching, and can talk through which one is best for you.

  • You don’t have to know for sure that you want to move ahead with coaching. You just have to be serious enough about it to want to have a conversation.

Ready to talk about it? Fill out the form on this page to apply, and one of us will schedule an info session with you!

MORE ABOUT MARY

Mary Cardenas is a writer, Thriver, and recovering people pleaser. Between turns as a makeup artist and an assistant in LA’s film and television industry, Major League Baseball, and higher education philanthropy… Mary continued to find herself at odds with how she wanted to feel- and actually felt in each new role. A few months in, regardless of how different each landscape or location was- she was inevitably frustrated by each new job. Tired of not feeling like her most-favorite-version of herself all of the time, Mary enrolled in coaching. With Rachel’s guidance, her work-life balance, creative flow, and her authentic self all finally fell into alignment.
