Pursue Your Spark: Fitness, Confidence & Clarity in Midlife
The most dangerous lie women believe in midlife is that their best years are behind them. It shows up quietly. It sounds reasonable. It tells us to slow down, step back, and stop wanting more. In Episode 254, When Wanting More In Midlife Starts to Feel Wrong, I sit down with pro-aging advocate Ande Lyons to challenge that lie and reveal how easily women become caged by their age without even realizing it. We talk about how gendered ageism shapes confidence, ambition, and identity for women in midlife — and why wanting more in midlife can suddenly feel inappropriate, risky, or...

It’s a new year—and everywhere you turn, it’s the same message: new diet, new plan, new rules. But what if this year, you didn’t have to start over? In this episode, Why the Mediterranean Diet Isn’t Really a Diet, I talk with Dr. Anna Pleet about a refreshing approach to food and health that doesn’t require willpower or calorie counting. The Mediterranean diet has topped every “best diet” list for years—but we break down why it’s actually not a diet at all. And why that’s exactly what makes it work—especially in midlife. Dr. Pleet shares how this lifestyle...

Midlife weight gain can feel like a mystery—one day, everything works, the next, nothing does. You’re eating less, staying active, maybe even doubling down on healthy habits, but your body just isn’t responding. In Episode 251: Why your metabolism isn't the main villain in midlife weight gain, I dig into a hard truth most women haven’t been told: the weight gain, fatigue, and body changes you're feeling aren’t just about a slower metabolism. Yes, metabolism plays a role. But it’s not the whole story—and believing it is may be exactly what's keeping you stuck. What if the...

Tired of starting over every Monday? You’re not alone — and it’s not your fault. In How to Ditch the All-or-Nothing Mindset and Set Goals That Stick, I break down the real reason your workouts and nutrition plans don’t last: perfectionism disguised as discipline. So many midlife women believe if they can’t do it all — the perfect routine, the flawless food tracking, the six-day workout plan — then it’s not worth doing at all. But that mindset drains your energy and kills your progress. In this episode, I show you how to reframe the all-or-nothing fitness mindset into...

Do you find yourself dragging through the afternoon, reaching for coffee or snacks just to stay awake? You’re not alone. After 40, those 2 p.m. crashes become more common—and it has nothing to do with motivation. It’s your hormones and nutrition working differently now, and midlife nutrition plays a much bigger role than it used to. In Episode 245: What To Eat After 40 To Boost Energy, I explain how hormone shifts, stress, and sleep all affect your energy. As estrogen trends down, your body becomes more sensitive to carbs. Add cortisol spikes from stress and poor sleep, and...
info_outlineThe most dangerous lie women believe in midlife is that their best years are behind them.
We talk about how gendered ageism shapes confidence, ambition, and identity for women in midlife — and why wanting more in midlife can suddenly feel inappropriate, risky, or unrealistic, even when women still feel capable, curious, and alive.
This conversation introduces a pro-aging mindset and reframes aging not as decline, but as expansion. We explore what it really means to rewire, not retire, why purpose after 60 is not only possible but powerful, and how lived experience becomes an advantage rather than a limitation.
We also talk about visibility — saying your age out loud, being comfortable as the oldest woman in the room, and choosing to show up fully instead of shrinking. Ande shares why intergenerational community matters, and how connection helps dissolve ageism while keeping women energized, engaged, and grounded.
We cover simple daily practices that support positive aging: gratitude, journaling, intentional movement, protecting balance and strength, and choosing community over isolation. Throughout the episode, one truth is reinforced again and again: self-first is not selfish.
This conversation is a reminder that wanting more in midlife is not a problem to fix.
You are not done. You are not invisible. And you do not need permission to want more.
