Spurgeon said “Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity” Whatever we do in this life we must always view it through the lens of eternity, that lens will be steeped in a scripture that is repeated three times in the bible - "Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess"

Throughout the bible God has revealed HIs Spirit in different ways. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was placed on certain people for specific reasons and King David in his repentant heart asked the God would not take His Spirit away. In the New Testament because of the work of Jesus at the cross the Holy Spirit is given to us and now it's for all time enabling us to do all the good works God has prepared for us in advance.

In Genesis 27 we see for the first time a phrase used by Jacob to his father Isaac - "The Lord your God". In Exodus we see for the first time God use the same phrase to Moses after the people rebelled into false worship at the bottom of the mountain and God tells Moses "your people" have corrupted themselves. Moses responds with no Lord they are your people. No matter what God does in our lives we always need to remember the glory must always be given to God.

1 Chronicles chapter 4 tells us the story of Bithiah and the remarkable steps of faith she achieved which would change the course of a nation. Every church has a specific call and ministry and the people as the church create that difference with their specific call of God in their lives. We have to be willing though to go where we’ve never gone before to do what we’ve never done before and to go to places we never thought possible in order to see the difference not in our lives but in generations to come.

In Luke Chapter 5 - Jesus teaches us about the the old and new wineskin. When God moves us it’s always a challenge, but the challenge brings change and sometimes God allows challenges to bring in the change. We need to recognise the old wineskin is dead and so often the tension we feel as Christians is trying to reform the old man instead of living as the new man.

James 5:16-17 tells us "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. Ps Alan shares with us about the power of prayer and staying faithful to the word that God instills in our lives.

Mark 16:17 tells us "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” As Christians we need to learn that all authority is given to us through Christ Jesus.
info_outlineIt was the Samaritan, a man despised by Jewish society, who stopped, bound the man’s wounds, and ensured he was cared for. His compassion moved him to action, and that action became the miracle the wounded man needed. Compassion isn’t weakness—it’s the beginning of healing. It opens the door for God to work. In this story, Jesus reframes what it means to truly "love your neighbor." It’s not about knowing the law—it’s about living it through mercy.
