In Matthew's Gospel Jesus speak to the people about faith. We often hear faith the size of a mustard seed but have we thought about faith as a mustard seed. This is the Greek word used in Matthew 17. Its not the size of your mustard seed but where it is planted. Our faith is not in our own abilities, our own intellect, our own strength. Our faith has to be firmly planted in God, in His abilities, in His abilities and in His Word. Our faith grows when we hear, consume and act upon the living word of God.

The journey of our Christian wall is to live like Jesus, think like Jesus and be like Jesus. We know that we always have the best of intentions and yet like the Apostle Paul we end up not doing what we should be doing and doing what we shouldn't. There is a promise however for us un the book of Revelation 21 verse 21 which tells us that He being Jesus said "Behold I make all things new." The underlying truth of the new creation is that God makes us new when we receive Christ, we become in the spirit and a new creation and our journey in Christ is one of dying to self and putting on the mind...

In Acts 3 we never see the name Holy Spirit mentioned and yet we see the work of the Holy Spirit through the lives of Peter and John when dealing with the man at the gate Beautiful who was blind from birth. We read those famous word "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." As disciples of Jesus we must be willing to go where we haven’t been before so we can see things we’ve never seen before and not let our reasoning stop us from seeing what God has for us and others.

In Luke chapter 2 we read the faithfulness of God and the the faithfulness of two people - Simeon and Anna, two people who held on to the promise of God given to them that they would see with their own eyes the promise of Israel and the world. Both Simeon and Anna could have given up but they didn't and they could have said no this cannot be the promise of the Messiah but they refused to be limited by their own ideology and trusted the word of God that was given to them - the promise of Jesus.

Galatians 4 tells us that when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, not in a palace, not in a mansion, not in a large house but in a manger. The thought that God the Son entered into his own creation, entering time and space and matter to bring hope and redemption. The universe waited for this moment of time to tack place, we serve a God of true generosity.

As Christians we all have access to the same authority Jesus has, he even said in John's Gospel that we his disciples would do greater things. In order to do these things, the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do, we need to recognise and operate in the authority that Colossians tells us we have access to because of what Jesus has done for us.

The bible tells us without faith it is impossible to please God and that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. In a rudimentary way faith can be explained as "trust in action". For instance, people get on airplanes, cross bridges, and eat at new restaurants, all because they have a certain level of trust or faith that the plane will fly safely, the bridge will hold their weight, or the food will be safe to eat. This demonstrates that having faith—confiding in something uncertain but necessary or desirable—is a common human experience.

Many people, even those that have no faith in God can agree that if we all lived like Jesus the world would be a better place. So how do we as Christians learn to live more like Jesus – we become disciple making disciplers. Discipleship can be likened to a Jesus apprenticeship, we learn from following our teacher Jesus.

Spurgeon said “Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity” Whatever we do in this life we must always view it through the lens of eternity, that lens will be steeped in a scripture that is repeated three times in the bible - "Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess"

Throughout the bible God has revealed HIs Spirit in different ways. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was placed on certain people for specific reasons and King David in his repentant heart asked the God would not take His Spirit away. In the New Testament because of the work of Jesus at the cross the Holy Spirit is given to us and now it's for all time enabling us to do all the good works God has prepared for us in advance.
