847 |  Become the Authority You Were Meant to Be show art 847 |  Become the Authority You Were Meant to Be

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I explore how we can shift our mindset from feeling like an imposter to embracing our authority. I start by posing a thought-provoking question: How would you like to perceive imposter syndrome differently? I emphasize that authority doesn't have to be a triggering term; it can simply mean owning your life and your message. Throughout the episode, I discuss the common reasons behind imposter syndrome, such as caring deeply about our work and comparing ourselves to others who seem more experienced. I highlight the importance of recognizing that we often compare our beginning to...

844 |  The Hairdryer Cord -  Strengthening Your Mindset for Success show art 844 |  The Hairdryer Cord -  Strengthening Your Mindset for Success

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I share some stats about the sheer volume of daily thoughts—between 60,000 and 80,000, with a staggering 80-90% being repetitive and predominantly negative. This repetition can create thick neural pathways in our brains, reinforcing doubts, fears and limiting beliefs. I use a vivid analogy comparing our thoughts to a hairdryer cord, illustrating how negative thoughts can become strong and durable while positive thoughts often remain fragile and underdeveloped. Throughout the episode, I encourage listeners to recognize the power of their language and internal dialogue. I...

842 | Judgment Is a Mirror — And NLP Holds the Key to Compassion show art 842 | Judgment Is a Mirror — And NLP Holds the Key to Compassion

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I share the idea that judgment acts as a mirror, reflecting our internal beliefs and feelings. We all have our own internal representation of the world, and each person perceives the world through a unique lens shaped by experiences, values, and emotions. This leads to the realization that trying to change someone else's perspective can be a waste of energy, as they are likely operating from their own internal map of the world.  The judgments we fear from others often stem from our self-judgment. Judgment can trigger unresolved beliefs within us, and I emphasize the...

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I’m sharing the importance of challenging our thoughts and the profound impact they can have on our lives. We are not our thoughts; we are human beings experiencing thoughts. With an astonishing 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts racing through our minds each day—most of which are negative and repetitive—it's crucial to recognize that these thoughts are not facts. They are merely programming we have internalized over the years, often without even realizing it. Throughout the episode, I challenge listeners to confront their inner dialogue. I ask, "Why do we accept our thoughts as...

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In today’s episode, I reflect on recent experiences with clients who have faced toxic coaching situations in the past, emphasizing that coaching should not simply provide answers or only focus on the client’s goals, instead can they help clients uncover the underlying barriers that prevent them from reaching their goals. I share my belief that strategy constitutes only 5% of the equation, while subconscious work—addressing limiting beliefs and emotional blocks—makes up the remaining 95%. Throughout the episode, I stress the significance of getting to the root of why individuals feel...

In this episode we are speaking with Peer Coach, Joe Tlustos. Joe suffered from multiple addictions (including opioids, alcohol and others) for more than 20 years, mainly due to undiagnosed mental health conditions including Bipolar Disorder II, severe depression, anxiety and adult ADHD. Joe voluntarily entered inpatient treatment in November of 2008 and has been in recovery ever since. Prior to getting well, he spent more than 35 years in the broadcast media industry as an Emmy-award winning program director, on-air talent and talent coach. Joe started as a peer coach in 2017. In that time, he has helped hundreds of people from all walks of life find lasting wellness from addiction. He’s learned a number of important lessons along the way and continues to share them with his members. He’s experienced as a coach and a peer in that place where highly creative talent, mental health and addiction intersect.

In this episode we discuss:

1)  The importance of going slow to go fast, sometimes we are being asked to slow down, to tap in, to feed ourselves, take care of ourselves first, and none of it is a sign of weakness.

2) We have a current epidemic of loneliness, feeling as though we are lacking connection, not belonging or fitting in, and we’re not as powerless as we think we are.
