Jeff Shapiro is an elite wingsuit BASE jumper and hang glider pilot from Missoula, Montana.

His earliest memories are made up of childhood dreams where he would run across a grassy slope until he lifted off the ground in flight.  His fascination with flying hasn't changed over the years and he now structures his life around experiencing flight himself.

Jeff believes in seeking out adventures of true uncertainty for the experience and inevitable growth that comes with them.  These adventures have instilled within him a wisdom gained only by living life to the fullest.  His truths regarding risk, reward, presence and balance have been developed from the extreme joys and extreme losses that have come with the pursuit of his passion.

In this episode Jeff shares:

  • Why trying to make others happy should not be your primary goal in life.
  • How to be goal oriented while being present to unexpected opportunities.
  • How to know the difference between emotional and logical decision making.
  • How to assess the true risk of a decision.
  • Why you should seek out adventures of true uncertainty.
  • What he fears more than jumping off a cliff.
  • The benefit of choosing a path where you have no idea of the outcome.
  • How writing his own obituary in his head helps him achieve clarity.
  • His story of a close call he had wile hang gliding at 15,000 feet.
  • Why he feels maintaining "beginner's mind" is so important.
  • Lessons learned from facing his own mortality.
  • How to appreciate life and the limited time we are given.
  • Why learning you are capable of more than you imagine leads to happiness.
