It was timely for me because I’ve been thinking a lot about where the obesity market is headed. There have been some amazing breakthroughs in the past 10 or so years. Ozempic has become a household word.

When’s the last time a drug became a household word? It was originally for diabetes, but people found out you could lose weight on it. Doctors started prescribing it, and it entered the popular press. Then it was rebranded as Wegovy for obesity treatment.

Eli Lilly comes along with Zepbound, with the active ingredient tirzepatide. Clinical trials indicate it’s even more effective. Lilly quickly overtakes the market. Now you have Lilly and Novo at the top, and you wonder how long this can last.
