info_outlineLynn Trotta joins Patty on the podcast. She’s a long-time friend, former client and Patty’s nature-mentor. Lynn is truly one with nature.
Lynn’s bringing her greatest love to podcast sharing how we can get back to our roots and to find a place of belonging.
How does someone become a “nature-based-mentor”?
Lynn shares that she’s had a life-long love of the outdoors. It is where she feels most at home, and it was her personal place of refuge during her childhood. In her teenage years, she lost her connection with nature, until she had a transformational experience.
Find out how she made the shift and why she realized that this was meant to be part of her life’s journey.
Today her work helps others have their own transformation. It’s unique for each person, but the end result is helping her clients fine their own place of belonging.
What is cultural orphanhood?
Trotta shares that most of us in the US, live in a place that is not where our ancestors lived and died. Part of growing up is pushing away from our roots, as we seek our independence. Just as naturally, there is a season for us to search for our roots and connect again.
What is sacred nature?
Lynn explains that it’s an understanding that our fate is enterwined with the earth. All of creation has a soul. Sacredness means embracing that we’re all part of a collective. It doesn’t mean we have to be “outdoorsy” or one with animals. It really is for everyone. Listen to how she connects this feeling of belonging.
What is the impact of ignoring nature?
As humans, we evolved outside, in a place of connection. She outlines the physiological impact of spending time outdoors, and the brain science behind why it makes us feel so good. It’s biological!
The biggest impact is feeling like we don’t belong somewhere. Fortunately, she outlines simple steps anyone can do no matter where you live, or what your lifestyle.
Where can you start?
Do something easy. Go outside and sit. Lynn shares a simple practice that she and her clients like to do.
Tip: before you step outdoors, stop for a moment, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you are leaving your home, and stepping into someone else’s.
Engage your senses. Pay attention to the sounds, the smalls, the sensations. When we are able to embody our senses fully you can quiet your brain. It’s a wonderful way to lower stress and get out of your head and into your body.
What’s it like to work with Lynn?
Most of her clients come to her in times of overwhelm or a desire to reconnect with nature. Some are looking for a practice that brings a sense of spiritual connection. Lynn helps by bringing her clients back to their home, the place where they have always belonged.
