The Modern Mi’kma’ki Podcast explores what it means for L’nu’k to walk and work and live and laugh in the complex world of today. Mi’kmaw writers shalan joudry, Trina Roache, and Rebecca Thomas untangle a colonial history, wrestle with cultural teachings, and ask the big questions. How do we honour our ancestors? How do we all live as Treaty People? What does netukulimk really mean when you buy your food at the grocery store? Humour, joy, grief and reclamation. Join shalan joudry, Trina Roache, Rebecca Thomas, Sue Goyette, and Stephanie Domet in this ongoing conversation, produced by AfterWords Literary Festival, sponsored by ABO Wind and supported by the Nova Scotia Department of Culture, Communities, Tourism and Heritage. A Mom in Real Life" is a podcast hosted by Katherine Bush, a mother on a mission to empower women worldwide to become whole women while also being whole mothers, raising whole children. In our society, the conflict in being a whole mother and whole woman simultaneously often seems insurmountable. However, there are women out there who are determined to navigate this painful paradox and it all begins with embracing raw authenticity and getting real: why does the world make it so difficult for us to implement what we know about supporting our children's development? And why are we often told that our best is good enough without considering the extent to which our best is meeting our children’s developmental needs for wholeness? This podcast reveals uncomfortable truths, cutting through the hollow rhetoric of self-care and surface-level reassurances. We get personal about the real problems, the countless barriers, and the many contradictions that prevent us from becoming the mothers we instinctively know we should be. We share stories of women who are challenging the status quo, breaking cycles, and working to integrate wholeness across our motherhood, womanhood, and as a foundation in the first critically precious years of our children's lives.

Dateline: Sydney. Thursday April 01, 2010 For many people, it is the day before a 4 day long weekend because of Easter. However, for a group of Sydney women doing extraordinary jobs, it is a regular day. A Moment In Time follows these women as they go about their work in traditional male roles. The women are all aiming to do the best that they can to get through each day regardless of what Sydney throws at them. Their aim is to be able to go home at the end of their shift, alive. Most people take for granted that they will go home alive at the end of the day. But for these women, lots of training, teamwork, dedication and a little bit of luck is needed. Written by Eric Brook (aka Erk from Channel Erk Podcasts), this is his first novel. You might know him better from the online world and podcasting. This book is partly based on his experiences working on the Sydney railway system, as a volunteer in an Emergency Service organisation and as a life long Sydney resident. The book is entirely set on Thursday 01 April 2010. Following each character through the city of Sydney, incidents and their lives interconnect through the story. A Moment In Time was almost entirely written on an iPhone using an application called My Writing Nook.
