Ep 72: The Spectrum of Healing with Natasha Aine
Today we are speaking with Reiki Master Teacher & Spiritual Mentor/ Singer Songwriter & Sound Healer/ Movement Facilitator, Natasha Aine. Natasha is Mi’kmaq from Bouctouche & Elsipogtog First Nation, Irish, Austrian, and Nordic. Natasha is the Founder and Director of The Goddess Healing Grove, which focuses on Earth based healing practices, heavily directed and influenced by Natasha’s study and journey as a Reiki Master, Indigenous Drum & Medicine Carrier, and Irish Priestess. Natasha is currently on what she calls her “Journey to Joy”, as she unravels and redefines her life according to what brings her joy. In 2020 Natasha was diagnosed with cancer for the third time, this time it is proving to be the most intense and captivating healing journey with cancer yet. Her connection to Mother Earth, the Goddess, and Great Spirit, Creator, has been one of the most spiritual experiences of her life and continues to inspire healing within herself and also for others. May the gift of life keep on giving. In this episode we dive into: 1) Natasha is truly a storyteller and she shares so much of her experience of being diagnosed with cancer at a young age, how she’s spent years going inward, connecting with nature and spirit, and how her journey as a Reiki Master and Indigenous Drum & Medicine Carrier has continued to support her healing. 2) How our strengths can become our weaknesses and how we have to keep checking in, going internal and ask the hard questions to rewire our conditioning and what is important for us. There’s always room to change or shift, we have to allow ourselves the space to listen to the answers that support us. 3) How cancer is portrayed in the media, in books, movies, and how it’s not a clear representation of the journey. It easily becomes embedded in our approach to how we speak to others about cancer or even any of the difficult topics that we don’t want to talk about. We dove into the spectrum of healing and how learning to share our stories helps us connect with others. Ep 59: Energy Is Everything
In this episode, Sue and Marsha are sharing some thoughts on energy, how important it is when we are showing up to build our businesses and how to set criteria when it comes to choosing mentorship. They also share how close they are to seeing the book cover templates and how the first edition of Every Body Holds A Story Collaborative Book. In this episode we discuss: 1) How important it is to pay attention to our energy in our life and business. Our energy is our responsibility and it starts with paying attention to what fills us up and what doesn’t. We also tied this into choosing mentorship and setting criteria for what we choose to surround ourselves with, and there is no strategy that can help you when your mindset is needing support. 2) How to be mindful of the energy we are carrying that is not ours to carry. We spend so much time carrying opinions, thoughts, emotions that aren’t ours to carry and when the universe brings us ideas and opportunities, we can’t take a step forward because our hands are full of things that aren’t ours to hold onto. 3) We spoke briefly about responding to all of the challenges, trauma that surround us every day. We have to remember that we get to choose what we see, what we surround ourselves with and what we consume. We get to choose the energy we get to be in everyday and find ways to be kinder to ourselves on a daily basis. 4) Upcoming over the next few weeks we will be interviewing a number of our authors on the podcast and sending in Every Body Holds A Story Volume 1 into the editor. Ep 57: Human Expectations
In this episode, Sue and Marsha are sharing some tips on what to do when life is completely throwing you challenges, personal, health, family, and how can you still show up as your best self? As humans we are carrying a lot right now, we are humans having an unbelievable experience, holding a ton of different emotions, and some days it can be hard to be a human right now. In this episode we discuss: 1) The importance of compassion and if you haven’t heard from a friend in a while, don’t jump to conclusions, judgements or make it about you. Instead reach out, connect, hold space with no expectations. We can all be part of the ripple effect and humans need more and more support. 2) “You are the sum of the 5 people you surround yourself with”, Jim Rohn. This is financially, spiritually, relationships, growth, etc. You can choose who you surround yourself with and be open to brand new relationships. Don’t be afraid to surround yourself with people who will challenge you and call you out as needed. 3) The only constant is change, yet as humans we constantly resist this. Since we are under constant change and difficult experiences, where can we intentionally reach out to others and offer support or kindness? 4) Upcoming over the next few weeks we will be interviewing a number of our authors on the podcast and sending in Every Body Holds A Story Volume 1 into the editor. The limbo space is so uncomfortable, yet we still have to listen to what we need, what works for us and our business. If we could learn to give ourselves space, compassion and time to figure it out. 3) The steps to actually manifesting in our lives and businesses. Cora-Lynn explains how manifestation is grounded in neuroscience and how it starts by looking at our negative thoughts, the reasons for the stories, finding the evidence to disprove our thoughts, and the actions required to create the changes needed. She discussed how in this industry we need to allow ourselves to take the time it needs, be wildly brave and allow building the business to be easier without the added pressures. Ep54: Choosing To Stand Together
In this episode, Sue and Marsha are sharing what happens when we stand up together in solidarity, as they discuss the truck drivers convoy that is happening across Canada right now. Their decisions to stand up and make a statement that impacts so many of us truly makes us proud to be Canadian. They are also discussing how more and more people are inspired by other people’s stories and this is one of the big reasons why they are so passionate about sharing our stories. In this episode we discuss: 1) How more and more people are done with the division in our society and how we are all craving connections and this is now shifting because of some very brave humans who are choosing to stand up for what they feel is right. 2) We talked about bravery, courage and vulnerability as so many people are hoping that someone else will speak up at this difficult time. We tend to admire this in others as courage yet we judge it in ourselves as weakness. We all have bravery inside of us and we can all choose to leave these messages with others because it creates more impact for the world. 3) As the first volume of Every Body Holds A Story is getting ready to go to the editor, the doors are open for the next round of authors and we are starting the writing process in the first week of March. There is a link below or connect with us to apply to be an author in Volume 2 and the special edition on Brain Health. Ep 53: Standing Strong In Your Beliefs with Corrie Bignell
Today we are speaking with Nurse, firefighter, single mom, freedom fighter, Corri Bignell. Corrie is a survivor. She was a mom at 16, who battled cancer while in nursing school, became a mom again at 30 as a single mom, and went back to school to become a firefighter. Then Covid hit, and she battled “the front lines” as a health care hero! Then in September 2021 the hospital threatened her career by saying if she did not take a vaccine. she would be terminated. Corrie had contracted the delta variant in March 2021, so felt it unnecessary and actually dangerous to take the vaccine. The Grand River Hospital put her on unpaid leave Oct 2021. Corrie sold her home and moved to Nicaragua so her son could live free. Ontario is in another lockdown and Corrie is sitting at the ocean In this episode we discuss: 1) Corrie’s experience with her young cancer diagnosis, her persistence to finish nursing school, and successfully become a firefighter at 43. 2) What the early days and experience of Covid and the pandemic were like for the front line workers like nurses. The shift from being seen as a health care hero and how drastically that shifted when the vaccine mandates were being implemented. 3) Corrie’s journey to fight for her rights, her beliefs and what we incurred and experienced as she knew her job, pension and livelihood was in jeopardy and how she turned that into creating a massive life change of moving to another country. Ep 52: Rediscovering Untapped Potential with Danielle Gray
Today we are speaking with the Founder of Train Like A Gymnast, Wilhelmina Fitness Model, Certified Personal Trainer Danielle Gray. Danielle is a formerly competitive Junior Olympic gymnast who retired from the sport before college. After graduating from the University of Southern California in Public Relations, she worked full-time at a digital marketing agency and part-time as a gymnastics coach. Once she realized she forgot she was getting paid for coaching, she turned down a promotion at her desk job and pursued personal training and fitness modeling. She founded her own company, Train Like A Gymnast, to show people how much more capable they are. Her training style is challenging, yet approachable with a heavy focus on form, mindfulness, and intention. She is also a Wilhelmina Fitness Model, an iFit Trainer, a Ninja Warrior, an aerialist, among many other things. If you follow her on Instagram, you can see her adventures with acro, pole dance, travel, and walking her cat Zara. In this episode we discuss: 1) What it feels like to trust yourself, trust in your body and even trust yourself in business. When you don’t trust yourself it can look like bailing, pausing for a long time, overthinking, afraid of failing and lots of mind chatter. When you trust yourself it’s silent, this feeling or knowing of “I’ve got this.”2) “Be willing to stay with the suck.” Don’t push the uncomfortable feelings away or avoid them. Nothing will change by doing that. Learn to feel the emotions and face the discomfort head on, knowing that everything is temporary. Our uncomfortable moments can lead us to positive changes by removing something that isn’t working. 3) Suicidal ideations and the struggle and mental health journey that involved feelings of suicide. Danielle was incredibly vulnerable sharing her experience as well as the avocado tattoo that she got to remind her that the light can always hold the darkness, even when the darkness doesn’t go away. Feelings are temporary and seeing, feeling and recognizing them has allowed Danielle to learn to move through her emotions as opposed to avoiding them. 4) Danielle’s words on how to learn to let go of the need to control her emotions, and this quote was so powerful, “When you try to control what is outside of your control, it ends up controlling you.” By learning to feel her emotions as opposed to avoiding them, it has allowed her give others permission to do the same and realize that they are not alone.
