Everything becomes easier when you know your purpose because you now know what to say ‘no’ to and what to say ‘yes’ to. Even when things are not going well when you’re pursuing your passions you’re able to keep going because you’re inside your purpose. People of color have more degrees than a thermometer - it’s not about skill. It’s about the systemic challenges inherent to the system. When considering what we deserve, so often we sell ourselves short and don’t take into account that we are deserving of an expansive life. It is normal to want and have desires. We should normalize asking for support and asking for help. Look at mistakes as feedback, not as something you did “wrong”, but as a place to learn from. The language of using the word “sorry” often places blame where there is none. Ask for what you want, your time is of value, and you are deserving of the support you need to be successful. Shift your mindset to ask what your food can do for you. There is an importance of listening to your body and honoring its needs. It is important to have your own understanding of yourself, because some people will only ever see you how they want to see you. Awareness and reflection are critical elements in discovering yourself. Self discovery is founded on the acceptance of the version of yourself you are sharing, understanding the facade you show others if there is one and why you hide parts of yourself, and there blind spots that you don’t see in yourself. It’s okay to have areas of yourself that you don’t like, and be able to identify them as an area to work on and change. Make choices out of passion. Allow yourself to recognize the times that you have had to do what it takes to survive, be able to accept that and unpack the baggage. You are able to shift who you are and how you show up moving forward. If you are aligned with the flow of the work you are doing it does not feel burdensome. Prioritizing your purpose is essential to feeling fulfilled. Frustration only comes when you have not been actionable toward your goals. It is much easier to place blame on others but it is important to look to yourself, your actions, to determine what you can do to reach your goals. You should not be frustrated if you have taken the time to write out the manageable steps that it will take for you to make this manifest and every day you work on it. You can turn frustration into action, and then accomplishment. Find people who are supportive. It is harder to grow when you are surrounded by naysayers. Change in life should not be feared.
