KORTNEY LEANY, born near the picturesque Rocky Mountains of Colorado, grew up as a middle child in a loving family. Her journey of self-discovery began early, balancing parental expectations with her desire to forge her own path. Jaimie Zaki: Reclaiming the Lost Generational Knowledge of Breastfeeding | WAM226
JAIMIE ZAKI is here to help you enter motherhood with confidence. After realizing the medical maternal wellness system was not equipped to truly help mothers and babies thrive, she made it her personal mission to do her part to help bridge the gap of maternal health and wellness support. As a new mother who just experienced a difficult and unwanted cesarean birth, Jaimie dreamed of a peaceful breastfeeding experience to bond with her new baby. Instead, she was met with pain, misery, an angry baby, and heartbreak. The support structures she assumed would be in place to solve these issues were not able to help reach their goals, and even seemed in many ways to undermine her innate desire to nurse her baby. After finding mother-to-mother support that dragged her through the darkest days of her postpartum experience, Jaimie decided that more support was needed in the world, and instead of conforming to and trying to fix a broken structure within the corporate medical model, she would step outside of that model to help mothers where they were - at home. This is why Jaimie embarked on a journey to become a birth doula and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. After welcoming five babies, she has learned that wellness exists most naturally when we find the right balance between allopathic medicine and holistic wellness - ultimately learning two things: informed consent and trusting our intuition. Her goal is to help mothers find this balance as they seek wellness in pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. Check out her website link below and enter code WellAdjusted50 for 50% her online programs! Elisabeth Schellekens: Bridging Tradition and Tech - Revolutionizing Maternal Mental Health Care | WAM215
Elisabeth Schellekens, the visionary founder of Elle's Corner, is on a mission to revolutionize the way society approaches motherhood and mental health. As a passionate Motherhood and Mental Health Counselor, Elisabeth's driving force is to create a supportive community that ensures no mother has to face the challenges of postpartum depression (PPD) and postpartum anxiety (PPA) alone. With a rich academic background in psychology and drawing on her own harrowing experience with a difficult pregnancy and severe PPD, Elisabeth provides mothers with the essential resources and tools they need to build resilience and thrive during their postpartum journey. Elisabeth is also a fierce advocate for dismantling the taboos surrounding mental healthcare. She believes that everyone should have access to affordable, accessible mental health support, and she's dedicated to dispelling common myths surrounding PPD and PPA. In her ideal world, regular mental health checkups would be as routine as dental cleanings, starting in high school. As Elisabeth continues to break barriers and inspire change, her impact reverberates far beyond the walls of Elle's Corner. She is not just a counselor; she is a catalyst for a societal shift that places mental health at the forefront of our collective consciousness. Alan Feigenbaum, JD: The Baby Effect - From Lovers to Litigants | WAM211
ALAN FEIGENBAUM is an experienced matrimonial and family law attorney whose prime focus is the maximization of his clients’ long-term, post-divorce, emotional capital. Alan assists a diverse range of professionals and their spouses, including business owners, lawyers, investors, and entertainers, on their family law matters, with a notable focus on evaluating the optimal strategies to manage and resolve complex financial and custody disputes. He is well-versed in managing agreements (separation, prenuptial, and postnuptial) to create a framework for his clients’ futures, and approaches dispute resolution with an eye toward facilitating cooperation and reducing conflict, making every effort to settle cases out of court. Understanding that divorce can affect the trajectory of a person’s life, Alan focuses on his clients’ long-term financial and familial best interests. His multifaceted approach has included: Working with financial experts to identify and define the scope of assets acquired by a spouse before the marriage, thereby eliminating litigation over whether those assets are part of the marital pot; Resolving the disposition of a spouse’s interest in a business without resorting to a pro forma approach that assumes complex valuation of that interest is always required; Reaching agreement on the payment of expenses while a divorce action is pending, without the need for costly, interim support motion practice; Negotiating interim parenting schedules by empowering parents and not substituting attorney judgment for that of the parents; Settling contentious custody disputes without involving court-appointed professionals, sparing the family from the potentially lasting effects of domestic relations litigation; and Prioritizing the value clients place on financial independence both during and after the divorce action concludes, including in the case of the nonmonied spouse evaluating the financially feasibility of retaining the marital home. Alan also has significant courtroom experience, including first-chair trial experience in domestic relations matters and, at an early stage in his career, examining witnesses before the U.S. International Trade Commission. He also speaks and writes frequently on matters of family law. Alan is a regular contributing columnist for the New York Law Journal on matters of divorce law. For his pro bono work at the firm, Alan is a volunteer discharge upgrade attorney for The Veterans Consortium. Outside the Firm, Alan and his wife, Talia, live in Maplewood, New Jersey with their two children. Tammy & Marc Goldberg: Growth Mindset and Positive Talk Around Math in the Home | WAM209
TAMMY AND MARC GOLDBERG are underground math education innovators who have figured out how to get math right! Their work can be experienced at Mathnasium Learning Centers worldwide. It is their mission to empower children to excel in math and grow into confident young adults who are able to think logically and solve complex problems. Tammy’s origins in the math classroom and the private tutoring space merged with Marc’s accounting and business background in 2008 when they opened their first of several Mathnasium Learning Centers in NYC. But, perhaps, the more interesting part of the story was the emerging creative collaboration with Mathnasium co-founder, Larry Martinek, that gave them the perfect think tank and platform to write a revolutionary math curriculum that has empowered millions of students to develop true understanding and self confidence in their math abilities. In addition to writing the majority of Mathnasium’s curriculum, Tammy and Marc are the operators of 5 Mathnasium Learning Center locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and one in their current hometown of Doylestown, PA. As parents of school-aged children themselves, Tammy and Marc have seen the negative academic effects of the Covid pandemic firsthand. Having the experience of working with thousands of students in their centers and developing a curriculum that has parents raving around the country, they feel a personal responsibility to share their collective wisdom and bring awareness to parents as to what kids actually need to be successful in math compared to what most people think they need. Outside of their work in math education… Marc is a dynamic rock singer and multi-instrumentalist, a professional problem-solver, and a youth baseball coach. Tammy is an astrologer, a wellness enthusiast, and an aspiring singer/songwriter. They have two kind-hearted, creative, math-loving kids, a Miniature Schnauzer, and a Russian Blue cat at their home in Pennsylvania.
