1 in 200 kids are estimated to have PANS/PANDAS – but that number is likely lower due to the lack of education surrounding PANS/PANDAS. PANS/PANDAS, which stands for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections, is a condition that affects children's brains and behavior. It can be difficult to see your child experiencing sudden and sometimes severe symptoms that may disrupt their daily life.  ⭐In PANS/PANDAS, the immune system, which is meant to protect the body, starts to act in a...

Don't Skip These Thyroid Tests! show art Don't Skip These Thyroid Tests!

The Trust Your Gut Podcast

Most standard Thyroid panels do NOT test enough metrics to help you make the best decisions around your health. If you’ve only tested 1-3 metrics - usually TSH, T3, and T4 - then this isn’t enough information to decide to go on medications. You need a bigger picture, mainly because the vast majority of Thyroid issues are actually being caused by something else underlying anyway. In this episode I discuss the full Thyroid panel that you need tested, and what the results mean.

We hope you are entertained as you learn more about the staff at Sarpy Chiropractic!

If you are interested in learning more about the Omaha arts community, here is Bri's list of what to check out:

Arts Organizations / Galleries in Omaha

**I mentioned "First Friday" - Look for First Friday events in ANY city you plan to visit, including Lincoln and Omaha. This is a national thing!

Hot Shops - Many artist studios in a very cool building. Has glass blowing, welding and pottery demos/workshops, individual workshops held by artists, art displayed all over walls. It is super inspiring to just go walk around in there and maybe pop in to chat with an artist if their door is open!

The Union for Contemporary Art - Bri loves their volunteer opportunities! Aimed at revitalizing the North Omaha neighborhood and making art accessible to everyone with a variety of programs. They host exhibitions, kids art classes, residency programs for artists, neighborhood clean up days, and open studio days where artists can sign up to use tools like the dark room or pottery wheel. They also have a community Abundance Garden so people have access to free, healthy, fresh food in their community.

BFF - Benson First Friday Organization (mentioned) - Art shows, collaborations, events organized and promoted by fellow artists centered around the Benson area. Every first Friday of the month they host events in Benson where art is displayed inside and outside of local businesses, bars, galleries, you name it! Currently holding a virtual artist market until September.

Bemis Center for Contemporary Art
 - Has fresh, contemporary art installations and exhibits. Really cool, different stuff! They have an artist residency program and an internship program for college graduates to work alongside internationally exhibited artists. They also host art talks, discussions and screenings. Big event is the Annual Benefit Art Auction - artists donate pieces to be sold for charity!

The Kaneko -  Hosts exhibitions that get really popular around Omaha, guest lectures, workshops, artist conferences, etc. for a range of artist mediums including music, light installations, film, sculpture, etc. They also have a research library accessible to University of Nebraska students.

Bench - Maker's studio building that offers spaces for artists, designers, creative people to work and conduct business. Holds an annual event, called Bench:Made, featuring makers from all over the area! So much fun to shop for the best local stuff from artwork to jewelry.

The Apollon Art Space -workshops, camps for different age groups, and events for art of all different kinds including theater, comedy, dance, painting, drawing and sculpture. With a focus on the South Omaha community. (*virtual events right now, free family art days possibly starting in October?)

Joslyn Art Museum
 - of course an Omaha staple, a new kids area and workshops for families to check out! They also host a mentoring program through Kent Bellows Studios for high schoolers. This is where I go when I need a quiet day to myself with a cup of coffee in hand. Get lost in their exhibition rooms, you won't regret it. Includes lots of Bri's favorite famous historical art!

Smaller Galleries: This is a short list, there are lots around town!
Split Gallery
Petshop Gallery in Benson
Modern Arts Midtown
Gallery 1516
Artists Cooperative Gallery
The Blue Pomegranate
The Mobile Mayflower - Art gallery on the go! Usually parks around Blackstone district and Dundee
Old Market Passageway - check out the galleries in the passageway, along with the Garden of the Zodiac sculptures (up the steps and onto the roof of the passageway - best seen in summertime!)

THERE ARE SO MANY. OMAHA IS SO COOL.
