This week our guest is John Fairley From Country Valley. He is a dairy farmer from Picton NSW who peeked Gab’s interest in 2018 when he advertised on social media about adopting his cows in order to help supply them food for the winter given the drought. What was funny about this interview is that being a farm in Picton, loads of friends stated that ‘it is so close to the ocean, they wouldn’t have seen drought’!!! this is true in comparison to far more rural farms but is a good reminder that the drought hits closer to home than we often realise. John talks about buying from farmers, Mental health of farmers impacted, the struggle of farming in Australia today and what we as the local community can do about it. Such an amazing talk with such an amazing human. You can find out more about his particular farm at @countryvalley on social media and also find him loitering at local farmers markets in Sydney and Canberra on a weekly basis.
