info_outline EP60: I'd rather be doing what I'm doing!Life Love Music & Space Travel
A good portion of my time on planet Earth has been spent daydreaming, projecting or dwelling, longing for things to be different, filled with a desire to be doing anything OTHER than what I was doing at the time. How about you? And although I've been on a more awakeneded plane these past many years, it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I was presented with the verbal concept of, "I'd rather be doing what I'm doing."Since then I have been very focused on that exact concept!! What's been extra cool is that I'm realizing that for quite some time that that HAS been my mindset! I just hadn't put it...
info_outline EP59: My voice matters. TO ME.Life Love Music & Space Travel
Have you ever squelched your voice out of fear? Have you found yourself feeling ashamed after speaking your truth? Have you ever felt like your voice doesn't matters?! If so, you're absolutely NOT alone ;) At the very least I have definitley felt the same way! In this episode I share my experience with having spent a good portion of my life "keeping quiet", and more importantly how grateful I am for having made it to a place in my life where I realize that whether or not my voice matters to other it DOES matter to me :) Take a listen & hopefully you'll be inspired to...
info_outline EP58: MUSIC EDITION: Here's to kicking off another MUSICAL ADVENTURE AROUND THE SUN!!Life Love Music & Space Travel
On January 30th I officially kicked off my 2024 musical adventure around the sun with a performance by the Benny Hill Jazz Quartet! It was a spectacular benefit event raising money for the Cape Fear Community College's music department and it was a few hours WELL spent!! Then on February 2nd I chose to once again celebrate what used to be my marriage anniversary by attending a concert, in order to make some new memories ;) This year I had the distinct pleasure of taking in a performance by Elvis Costello & The Imposters, with Charlie Sexton guesting in as well, and boy oh boy was my soul...
info_outline EP57: My mental health matters. TO ME.Life Love Music & Space Travel
I spent my late teens, 20's & early 30's in a rather unwell mental state. I was roaring through the world like a tornado, generally unaware of how my behavior was regularly harming those around me and equally harming myself in ways that had me in a viscious cycle of self abuse.Although I knew something was "off" with my mental health, I honestly didn't know what to do about it. So I drank and drugged my way through most of it, and when that made things even worse I drank and drugged more! That went on pretty much until my life hit a serious bottom on December 19th of 2000. Shortly...
info_outline EP56: Boundaries baby! Boundaries!Life Love Music & Space Travel
Boundaries? What are those?! Aren't they something you set while playing basketball, or other sports? You set them to block the other person out right?! Or don't they relate to property lines? Yup! That's what I thought for quite some time ;) Boy oh boy, was I rather surprised when I eventually learned that boundaries were also something I could set within my relationships! EMOTIONAL boundaries! What a concept ;) And even more surprising was how often I had disregarded other peoples boundaries due to my being ignorant of the concept ;) I'm happy to say I've come a long way baby!! These...
info_outline EP55: It's a' wrap!!! Out with '23 & in with '24 :)Life Love Music & Space Travel
Here we are again! Where? At the end of a calendar year and beginning of another! Whether we feel as though we're "ready" to start a new chapter it's happening regardless ;) Thanks goodness for the concept of "One day at a time", because that's all we really ever have. That being said, here's to a clean slate! A new beginning! A continuance, if you like ;) Whatever way you choose to feel about this time of year I gently invite you to join me in a bit of reflection and hopefully you'll be inspired to do your own reflecting on where you've been and where you would like to be heading! The earthly...
info_outline EP54: What's the reason for the season?Life Love Music & Space Travel
Well here we are again! Where? In the midst of that mystical time of year when religion, "holiday" music, forced family fun, suggested excessive spending, food gorging, and expectations of being merry and bright are sort of pushed into our lives whether we like it or not. Of course there is always the option to isolate one's self away, turn off all media devices and hunker down until the "season" passes... But where would be the adventure in that? ;) In this episode I share a bit of what's been on my mind as 2023 comes to a close, bringing with it the onslaught of the Triple Whammy:...
info_outline EP53: Interview Episode: Alex Mintling - The Man, The Myth, and Mooshie ;)Life Love Music & Space Travel
HELLO CYBERSPACE!! Oh how I've missed you!! In the spirit of the Holiday Season I'm ending my 2 month recording hiatus with a serious shot of GRATITUDE!! Reason being? While in Colorado this past October, I finally got the opportunity, AND more importantly the nerve, to interview my dear friend Alex Mintling, creator & host of The Builder's Journey podcast. Among many other things he is also the guy who inspired me to start my own podcast :) In this episode we touch on each topic of Life, Love, Music & Space Travel ;) This being my 1st ever interview episode, I'm super stoked to...
info_outlineDo YOU love NOLA? Jazz Fest? Are you thinking of going to either OR both in your future? Are you a live music lover?
If you have the tiniest bit of interest in any, or ALL of the things I mentioned than I believe you'll hear something that resonates with AND inspires you in this episode :)
I went to New Orleans, for Jazz Fest, for the first time 3 years ago. It was the first Jazz Fest after the pandemic shut the world down, and I could hardly wait!
A friend was supposed to join me, but because certain places were still requiring a vaccine card they opted out. I entertained the idea of not going, for about 5 minutes, and then begain to solidify my plans! I have since fallen in love with the Crescent City!!
I attended solo and have gone back every year since! The first year I attended the first weekend of Jazz Fest, last year I attended the 2nd weekend, and this year I stayed for the whole shabang :)
I've released a few prior episodes: #'s 11, 12 & 46, in which I share about my experiences during each visit, and here I am again about to share all about my first 5 days of Jazz Fest 2024 AND MORE!!!
My intention is to provide you, in a 3 part series, with tips on getting around, info on the place I stayed, and a peek into the many venues where I took in live music, along with my Jazz Fest specific experience ;)
I saw SOOOOOOOO many concerts in my first 5 days! I almost couldn't believe that after those first 5 days I still had 8 more days of music, food and fun to enjoy!!
I hope you can live a bit vicariously through me, via this episode, AND be inspired to either visit/revisit the Big Easy yourself, or get jazzed to get to another city you love ;)
In the meantime:
