What We Discuss In This Episode:
Dr. Robbins discusses the common misconception that "anti-aging" is achievable, when, in reality, aging is a natural process that cannot be fully reversed. She emphasizes the importance of managing expectations and focusing on feeling your best at each stage, rather than trying to turn back the clock. Embracing the aging process is key.
Dr. Robbins explains that addressing aging and menopause requires a multi-factorial approach, not a single "magic" solution. Key elements include lifestyle (diet, exercise, stress management), hormone balance (not just estrogen, but also testosterone), and targeted therapies/supplements. She stressed the need for a personalized plan based on each individual's needs and goals.
Many women experience symptoms of low testosterone as they age, but this is often overlooked or misunderstood. Dr. Robbins discussed how to assess testosterone levels and the various treatment options, including lifestyle changes, supplements, and bioidentical testosterone therapy. She emphasized the importance of working with a provider who specializes in women's hormones.
Dr. Robbins' top recommendations for women navigating menopause and aging are:
1. Don't just accept the symptoms - seek out professional help to address the underlying issues, and
2. Build a support network of other women going through similar experiences. Having that community and accountability can make a big difference.
