Practicing humility in your recovery makes you teachable,
Practicing humility makes you a better listener and it allows you to examine yourself without shame or judgment.
The hardest thing about practicing humility is that most of us want to feel that we have some kind of power or importance in our own lives. Lowering our importance goes against what is natural to us.
Humility is not low self-esteem.
Humility means taking credit for what you are responsible for and giving credit for what you are not responsible for.
Humility means learning from others.
Tonight, we talk about Humility
First to mind?
What comes first to mind?
Where do you want to start?
When you were new, what was your opinion of humility?
What is your understanding now?
What does humility look like for you in a practical way?
Why is humility important to you?
How has your attitude toward humility changed during your time in program?
How did you learn about humility?
What steps helped?
What prayers helped?
How did the fellowship help?
How did your sponsor help?
How does your higher power help?
What is the difference between humility and humiliation?
Why is pride dangerous?
Why is pride bad for your recovery?
When is pride good?
When does pride cross the line from something that is ok to something that threatens sobriety?
How do you know when pride is moving into dangerous territory for you recovery?
