Now let’s talk about FAT!....Don’t go shying away, fats can be healthy. Fats have gotten bad press, but did you know they are actually key in lowering inflammation and helping people to lose weight. I know crazy right!!! Over the last couple of years, the truth is finally coming to the surface.


Fat is essential for your body to work optimally and the key ingredient for cellular function. We have all heard about the effects fat has on heart disease, but now studies have shown no link between cholesterol, saturated fats, and heart disease. Fats help with weight loss (especially compared to low-fat diets), give us energy, are vital for brain and nerve function keeping it sharp, balance mood, aid in preventing dementia, are required to make hormones like testosterone and estrogen and to metabolize vitamin D, and actually are key in reversing every single indicator of heart disease risk, including cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, inflammation, and more. Fat is required to make cholesterol, found in every single cell in the human body, needed for cell structure, aids in the body’s important metabolic and hormonal functions, helps absorption and use of fat-soluble nutrients, and optimizes digestive health and bone health. A low cholesterol diet just forces your body to work harder to make its own, revs up its own production, causing higher cholesterol levels. Fat satiates us by turning on leptin, that tells us we are full.
